In the land of no hills and red dirt
Been meaning to do this for a while now, life keeps getting in the way.:(

I have spent about two and a half months with the 510 and 901 Mr. Puffer (MP) models. Both have held up well, and continue to vape with no problems.

Pros: The Mr. Puffer is a compact, affordable, and dependable mod. Any problems encountered have been minimal, and have been easily fixed with at most a trip to the crafts store for easily available supplies. And, I cannot say this enough, NEXT TO NO LEARNING CURVE.

Cons: The size comes with a price: you can only use the MP with the 14500 battery. The tube from the juice bottle tends to snag and come detached, though it is easily fixed. The self juicing cart design is not quite up to the level of self juicing bottom feeding atty designs like the CJB, Reo or AFS when it comes to volume or taste of vape, though the 901 is a lot closer than the 510. Both are marked improvements for vape and taste compared to any second generation, non high voltage mods that I've tried.

It may sound like I'm damning the MP with faint praise, but I'm not. It's kind of like having the smallest house in the nicest housing addition in your town. The MP is helluva little vape, but don't be expecting the performance of a carlos juice box for half the price and no waiting. If you're wanting to make a tentative foray into 3rd generation (self juicing) mods for a minimal investment, you can't make a better choice. If you're wanting a second unit or something to throw in your car or purse and take about with you, same thing.

But the MP is simple, reliable, affordable and enjoyable enough that I have recommended it to people who want to quit smoking and start vaping. The conventional wisdom was to recommend newbies to a 510 kit, but the MP represents nothing less than a paradigm shift. If my mother smoked and wanting to start vaping instead, I would confidently refer her to Mr. Puff's website. And I could see a lot of those folks not wanting or needing to try anything different later on.

eveything says out of stock, do they sell them in colors like it shows on the site? really interested in one of these, mostly for friday and saturdays when i'm sitting for 6 hours in front of the tv, filling the carts is a pain.

MrPuff has been putting them up for sale at 5 PM EST every Monday only, so they're only there til each week's limited batch sells out. Currently they aren't available in those solid colors (the painting took him a lot of extra time, slowed stuff down too much), just clear colors, or colorless clear, or solid black. Now there is also the new 'TougherPuffer,' which has a solid black rubberized face plate and is clear only on the back.

i emailed them and never heard back, does it come with the cartridge for the mr puffer or do you have to modify your own cartridge? can you get whistle tip 510 cartridges for the thing? And if you take the atomizer off, is it possible with this thing? like usually when I carry in my pocket with my bartleby, I take the atomizer off so it doesn't get broken in my pocket.

Like the product listing pages say, what they don't come with are batts, chargers & atomizers (well, juice either, tho it doesn't specify that one lol). Therefore everything else, yes. And if desired there are also extra pre-modded carts, bottles and tubing listed there that you can buy. Altho like anything else I suppose sometimes he may be sold out and you'd have to check back.

Currently he uses 901 carts for both 510 and 901, and they're just a little tighter is all. Many ppl prefer 901 carts all the time on their 510 gear. I've only heard one person mention that he didn't like the tighter fit, and it was suggested he just sand the 901 cart down a little. However -- MrPuff has stated that eventually he will also sell/use 510 carts specifically for the 510 model.

Of course you can take the atty off, only thing is that you'd want to devise a way to keep everything including the cart and tubing from leaking while disconnected; and to guard against leaks if the tube gets pulled off accidentally at any time. (I hear the leaking actually isn't that bad when the latter happens tho.) But also, with the MrPuffer you may want to avoid removing the atty more often than necessary, and regardless, always be extra gentle including not screwing it on too tight -- only because that may wear down the epoxy that holds the connector in faster. (Which can be repaired at home if desired tho, if it does happen.)

It's a pretty small unit, isn't hard to find something that'll contain it all assembled if you want to consider that. I had several reinforced eyeglass cases already that fit it perfectly. Others might have more suggestions on that one tho, I haven't experimented a lot yet with porting it around.

The fastest way to get answers to basic questions like these probably is to just ask current owners of the MP1, maybe on higher traffic threads like this one (link). There may be newer 'high traffic' MrPuffer threads than that, haven't looked lately. Forum/google site searches can turn up a lot, including under the term "puffer" (tho note there is also a mod called exactly that). MrPuff is just one guy doing this around his full-time job, and if he had to take the time to answer all basic prelim questions himself, many of which have already been answered multiple times in existing threads, the units he's selling would literally not get done. FYI, in the past he's said that he gets to PMs faster than emails, but there are better and quicker ways than that to find or request answers to the basics.

Just placed an order for one this morning. What kind of shipping time should I expect? (yes I ordered a battery too, lol).........

He has a general (not account-specific) 'Status' page on his site too. Is updated a couple or so times along the way of each batch to give indications of where things are at, including when they've shipped. IIRC sometimes it takes a couple days for the latest batch to be shown there, but if the one you're in isn't showing yet it will be soon. He has also been posting it on one thread or another in the Supplier's Forum once a batch is shipping.

Mine showed up today and I ordered almost exactly two weeks ago. Two weeks seems to be the norm.

I've only been using mine for about 15 minutes, but I have to say that the "made with care" motto is accurate. This is a pretty simple device with only a few parts, but everything is assembled very well. Obviously a lot of effort went into the construction process. I suspect Mr. Puff has made up jigs so that all the holes and cuts are perfect every time, but if you told me it was done with CNC I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think you could buy a better-made box mod (let alone a juicebox) for less money anywhere.

The only thing that lets it down is the battery box, and that can't really be helped. A plastic battery box is a plastic battery box. All I can say is that if the UMP is as well put together as this is, I don't care what it costs - I will buy one.

Quick question, but first praises. I had spent a week with my tougher puffer 510. And IT ROCKS!! I especially like it with the LR atty from heaven gifts. My question is how does the 901 version compare to the 510 LR atties in terms of vapor production and flavor? I am thinking about picking up a 901 version of the tougher puffer and the answer to my question will be the deciding factor.

A 901 atty has a higher resistance than a 510 atty, and much higher resistance than a LR 510. This results in a cooler, smoother vape, which many people (myself included) enjoy. You don't get more flavor per-se, but you get subtleties in flavor with the 901 that you miss with the 510. It's not a huge difference, but it's there.

I would recommend picking up a cheap 510-901 adapter and a 901 atty to try it out and see if you like it before buying another mod. There should be enough slack in the tubing to accommodate the adapter - it adds less than 1/4" - though the 901 atty itself is also a bit longer than the 510.

My puffer is in the hands of a neighbor, who is using it after some minor repair (shorted 510 atty screwed with the connections).

The pink Mindy puffer, refitted with a LR atty, is in the hands of a new vaper who is utterly enthralled with it.

I have a philosophy of donating review mods to smokers in need who have a desire to start vaping.
