Nah @Katya it's cool, I'm glad you are enjoying them. Although what I mean was any review of Ares 2 by me which from the sound of it would not be a good idea would have to start with the murky past of Ares one. I know what you are talking about.

Happy for you. We all have different tastes in Atomizers. I happen to love the Fummytech Rose V3 which most people just LOATHE so there is no accounting for taste. Etc.

I am glad it is working for you!

If only... But, it's so not. I don't like the mesh coils either and refuse to try the 1.2 coils because well, I am stocked for life on the 1.6s.

An RBA would be interesting, IDK. I don't think the Zenith is remotely like the Ares 1 or 2 honestly. It is super not GREAT unlike the Zenith I guess you can't win them all and I still say the Zenith is THE drop in tank of 2019.

Anna
I agree. Of course, it's the only drop-in tank I've ever used, so my opinion is meaningless.

Funny, I have 3 of those still boxed up, except I think they are called the gold version. I was on a site that had them on clearance for 3 bucks a pop. I don't know anything about them, but for 3 bucks I was willing to add them to my stash.

@Redbird11 I have the gold version too. I have nine of them. Take one of the coils in the box and build on the diagonal, vape at a fairly low (you'd be shocked) wattage.

You will love them, flavor is awesome, my wicks last forever and capacity is the BOMB. They are my second favorite RTA, after the (BD Vapes) Fumythech "Upvape" Precisio. There are lots of other RTAs I love but those two win, every time...

Anna

Don't accidentally eat a coil, it will cause you wonderment and distress on the way out. ;Much as I love those coils, I had to discard that one. LOL

I'm not really sure why building on the diagonal means, but do think these look like good tanks for sure.

That might have been the smart choice there.

Joyetech eGo one with CLR coils was another good one. Very popular here for a while. The beauty of CLR drop-in coils is that they are rebuildable (R stands for rebuildable). A lot of us moved on to Z coils because I think they are a bit better overall, but I have a stash of CLR coils in my vapocalypse box. Really easy to rebuild.

Well, you're obviously biased against the Ares. Can't say I blame you, given your history with Ares 1. I never got one because I knew it was trouble. BTW, I almost never buy version 1 of anything--they tend to be buggy and version 2 is usually much improved. Even the successful Zenith V1 was redesigned and made much better.
Happy for you. We all have different tastes in Atomizers.

Very true.
I am glad it is working for you!

Thank you! It is. For me, it's a solid MTL tank, sturdy and user friendly, stupid easy to build, doesn't leak, airflow adjustments, such as they are, can be done without removing the coil, glass + stainless steel, 24mm diameter, all I want from an RTA. Flavor is subjective and not the first thing I'm looking for in an atty. Not even a second. I wanted a workhorse and Ares 2 seems to be that.

Does it deliver that beautiful, dense vapor like my beloved (but unusable) Kayfun 4? Nope. Does it offer options for more open airflow like my Hastur? Nope, not even close. Is it esthetically pleasing like the doggys? Nope. It's ugly, really, and that excessive branding and knurling all over the base are really annoying.

So there.

Last week a guy at my work told me to try building a twin coil setup diagonally, as apparently this way you get a more intense vapor production. I see him dripping on a big 30mm Asgard all the time but I forgot to ask if that was the tank where he used this configuration, it might be an easier one to build that way because of the size and pretty much postless deck. So basically the idea is to place a coil at 45 degrees in relation to the deck, and the other one angled opposite way (So they form an "X" in relation to each other). Did you mean something like this @stols001 ?

Nope. One coil. One post on one side, the opposing post on the other side.

If you want a ton of vapor production use dual coils. Easy enough.
Anna
ok I got you now, I thought you were referring to how the actual wraps are orientated, not the negative/+ posts

Yep I can confirm this is BS.. And I'm now done with Innokin.. Every single one of these coils I had to toss out at 500 puffs and an average of 4 to 5 days. I'm done.. I don't get it.. I'm running 7 dayz Apple juice at 10 watts! Imagine if I bumped it up to 11 watts, I bet I would be lucky to last 2 days..

Just done, I'll be quitting with my subtank mini, I'm not spending anymore $$ on hardware ever again. Very disappointed that I never got to the bottom of this and what I'm doing wrong.

Buyer beware: Don't buy your coils from Element Vape Or Direct Vapor.. I just confirmed that they have both given the same results from both vendors. Either the quality has went to .... or I'm vaping too much.. 500 puffs in 4 days.. what do you guys think?

Hey there,

Would it be alright if I DM you some personal questions about your experience with your Z coils?

I think you're doing something wrong. Honestly. I don't know what to tell you other than what we have already told you before when you first reported your problems.
Innokin Zenith MTL tank--Phil Busardo

I've been using my Zlide with 1.6 and .8Ω coils for months, and I only burned 1 coil--and it was my fault--I was in a hurry and didn't prime it first. I just installed a new coil, filled the tank and waited a couple of minutes--that wasn't good enough and my coil started tasting burnt after a few puffs. Rookie mistake. Oh, and I had a bad coil that came with the tank--it just never performed well; don't remember why I tossed it.

So, Do you prime your coils (put a few drops of eliquid directly into the coil before installing it)? Do you let the coil sit in the tank for 5-10 min to let the coil saturate fully? Do you start at low wattage--lower than recommended--for the first few puffs?

Do you chain vape? What kind of juice are you using? Is it very sweet or dark or a NET?

Also, why did you have to toss each coil after 500 puffs? Because it turned dark? If so. rinse it out under hot running water. Was it burnt--if so, it's dead. Any other reason?

I always prime first. One drop in each of the side holes and 2 or 3 down the center. I then let it stand for 5 minutes before hitting it.

Unless chain vaping is a puff every 15 minutes or so, No I don't chain vape.

I had to toss each coil out do to the burnt taste. These coils only taste good for the first 300 puff or so. I'm running 7 dayz apple juice salt. I just don't understand it.

I'm now on my last coil and am contemplating not getting anymore and just facing the nicotine withdrawls head on. Tough choice but I need to make a decision now because I fear I may already be without even if I order today.

Me neither. My coils last for weeks. I vape 1.6Ω coils at 10 or 11 watts and they are just perfect.

You said you have a Subtank mini. How is that working for you? Are you using drop-in coils? If they work fine for you, stay with the Subtank. I got my STM years ago--it's a very good and versatile tank. Just make you sure you stock up soon.

Your experience with the zenith coils is nothing like mine.
I dont know how to help you though, and that is because our experiences are so different. I was replacing the coils not because they were failing but because they lasted so long I thought they could be a bit unhygienic to keep using.
There was another poster who seemed to have a lot of problems with zenith coil short life span about 18months ago and no one here could help him with it because no one was really having the same problems he was having. I think he gave up on the zenith in the end.
