Yeah I'm also getting 0.10 higher than actual.

I tooked a look at the math and it's assuming 5mm legs, it's using the ID of the coil rather than the center line, and also it's assuming coils legs are ending 180 deg off, pointing in two different directions.

I have one I made specifically for touching coils. You guys can have a copy as long as I can get some feed back on it.

Yea, I noticed the math. Leg length can vary greatly. Obviously, you and I are doing something similar to steadily get the .10 difference. I have touching coils. I would be happy to give you feedback.

Cool, anybody* that wants a copy of my Resistance Calculator spread sheet, PM and I will email them out; I mean if that's not against ECF rules (?).

I never thought of this because I developed the spread sheet for myself, but I guess it could have helped out with the Strata testing, better late than never.

*Anybody that has pre-ordered a Strata:p. Joking, free to all, maybe I'll send out ~10 copies and then you guys take it from there. The spread sheet is Excel based. Feedback would be much appreciated.

My micro coils always touch and the spreadsheet is pretty spot on for me..

Odd..

Well it's a fun little spreadsheet to play with at any rate.

Raqball, Sorry I didn't mean to steal your thunder. I think that the resistance calculator you posted is a good find. It's pretty accurate for smaller ID coils and I really like how it can calc various wire types, ribbon, nichrome, ect.

Anyways, I hope I didn't derail the thread. Just trying to pass the time till we can see some sexy Strata pics :)

If someone wants to post it in a Google doc that's fine with me. I was kinda trying to milk some feedback from you guys :D to see if it needed some tweaks. But whatevers clever.

I think I've sent out 7 copies of it and those that have it are free to share. I've just got a project that is due on Sat (for my Mechanical Vibrations class), should have started it wayyy sooner, lol.

I like it a lot! Much less clunky than the other. Really like how the measurements are updated both in inches and millimeters. I couldn't seem to get "Coil Type" (light yellow field) to work though.

Edit: Just figured out it updates on its own according to wick thickness! awesome.

He did a nice job! I need to measure my legs. :) I love spreadsheets, I write them for everything. My whole world is logged in spreadsheets. The first thing on my screen in the morning, is my 'quit smoking' stats spreadsheet.

I did not know there was a 'nano', 'micro', 'macro', and 'mini'. Cool! Learned something!

Update 12/10/13:

- 200 Simplicity Strata bottom's are done (100 ribbed, 100 smooth).
- 100 Precise/PrecisePlus Strata bottoms are done
- 1000+ Screw in coil retaining posts are done (for ELA, P+ and Simplicity Versions)
- 500+ Center posts are done and at the platers, just sent them an email for an update as they said last week they were working on them
- We'll now move on to the Top Caps of the Simplicity and Precise/PrecisePlus Strats (300 of them to match the bottom half), they are the same for both).
- After those are completed, we'll crank out the 200 ELA top and bottoms (Center posts and Coil holding screws are done for them already)

In my own little world
Thanks for the update David; waiting patiently for my Strata!

I'm more of a natural lurker than poster (my apologies for my hasty arrival and subsequent disappearing act) but I had to get in on this.

I ordered a Strata for my ELA a month ago or so and am glad I did since they have sold out.

Here's what I use to help with my builds: PV Web Apps. It calculates my coils pretty much spot on (haven't tried the google doc but seeing it in this thread made me think of this) and is great for genesis atomizers as there is an app to calculate what size mesh to cut. I've been getting back into gennys lately and this has been an invaluable tool. I didn't develop these apps but use them regularly.

On to my idea: the ELA version of the Strata will be much wider than the Simplicity and P+ versions; it seems to me that the juice well could be milled out more on the ELA versions than the others, to the point where the walls of the juice wells on both versions would be the same, but the ELA version would have more total open area. The post distances and top cap chamber size would stay the same, there would just be more area for filler material and therefore more juice. I plan on filling the juice well of my Strata with Sera wool and dipping my wicks into it, kind of like an upside down spheroid. A larger juice well will also save some weight, otherwise the ELA version will be the heaviest by far. The well being filled with Sera wool and juice should not negate the benefits of the reduced chamber top cap. Is my thinking correct here and is this possible?

I've had this idea rolling around in my head for a while and wanted to through it out these before the ELA Stratas get milled as it could benefit some lucky ELA owners. My ELA doubles as personal protection as it is and needs no help in the weight department and more juice in the tank is always a good thing. :vapor:

@Steam_Bern, dig the Battery Life Calculator portion. Is it bad that I'm getting <40 pulls per 18650? haha :)

Yeah I made the same assumption about the ELA Strata; however David had pointed out the juice well extends into to the telescoping tube. I trust he has looked at it from all angles.

My ELA makes a 650 Poldiac feel light, it's even heavier than a Paps X. I welcome a big chunk of American made steel.

Nothing beats a well machined chunk of American Made Stainless Steel! :)
