Can't tell, but it does look like an IMREN...
Found this via IG repost earlier. Perhaps this is the issue with the explosion, says it will cause a hard short.

How can you people sit and say this guy is uneduacated? Sometimes accidents do happen. Just because you think you are "educated" about battery safety means noting if the battery malfunctions with out being pushed to its limits.
Interesting that you would take exception of my statement and defend an activity that 500+ deaths and 100,000 emergency room visits a year are the result of. And you say I must not be keeping up?
I think relativism matters in the way that we should not be judged (taxed and/or regulated) any differently than other activities that has the same or higher level of risk involved. I don't have any statistics on hand - but I can somewhat confidently say that most kinds of extreme sports have far more injuries than vaping. Why should we be regulated - or face potential de facto bans?
This reviewer's take on the cause of the incident.. He recommends not using most of the sub-tanks available on devices with hybrid top-caps.. Now that a plausible explanation is available, how would "Joe Average" vaper know this when picking gear out in a local shop? I consider myself well-informed on many things vaping-related, but haven't really heard about the pins on many sub-tanks not playing nice with hybrid top-caps until now...

Besides, that doesn't justify bad design in vape gear, does it? Comparing vape gear to ATVs doesn't really take vape gear off the hook, does it? All it does is change the subject.
Instead of comparing other unsafe things, why not just commit to making vaping safer? In 2015, vaping has been around for 10 years......there is no excuse for a mod that is improperly vented to be carried and sold by any US vendor. (The scary part is that some of them seem to know less than the accusedly "stupid consumers" buying them.)
This is where industry professional trade associations come in. It's about networking, education, a desire to get on the same page.....to uplift your industry and give it credibility...........and it's still not happening, though we were talking about it back in 2012 when I joined up here.
There are always solutions. That is what keeps me positive. In order to find them though, you have to be looking at the problems and also not be in denial that there ARE some problems.
Have you ever seen/used an Atlantis IRL?
I don't understand how anybody that has picked up an Atlantis would think its a good idea to use with direct battery contact. You can press the 510 pin in with your finger far enough to cause a short.

If that is the case. Atlantis is not a very safe choice for many Mods. I have several that have a bit wide/flat 510 center pin. Any collapse could lead to a hard short.
People seem Bent on the Idea this Explosion had to take considerable time and heat to occur. The after incident interview with (Chris) clearly shows minimal to no burn injury. Only a small cut requiring 2 butterfly stitches.
The 4Nine split at the threading between the top and second spacing section leaving the threading inside the top piece.
Again - This was a Battery Fresh off the charger and very likely a Fake Lithium wrapped as an IMR.
Darryl Licht - none of the Videos take into account <Containment> effect on Gas expansion.
Top cap holes are for tool to remove if stuck. (Needle nose pliers/etc.)
Switch upside down would drop a normal length battery down and NOT fire until switch is depressed. Switch might get stuck once pressed.(maybe)
Yes, a 4Nine.
Either Grommet collapsed or more likely - Replacement battery was a Lipo Button top(longer) and locked the switch.
I have (2) 4Nines and use each for Different length 510 connected atty's. One used Flat tops and the other requires button tops.
well, what's a "normal" length battery? I have three different types of 18650's and they're all different lengths.
