Agree--spinning hundreds and hundreds of times fixed mine--now rock steady--also agree, be sure the receptacle is bone dry, it makes a difference.
I've never used a tank setup or had to deal with the fidgeting that apparently is part of using one. Have been using simple box mod with cartos for 2+ years. This piece interests me. Was thinking of ordering one along with a protank mini.
- Will tanks be too frustrating to get working properly (coming from a simple setup)?
Shouldn't be any different than any other device. Just watch the diameter.
- Who has the best price? I see it around $100 in webshops and around $80 on ebay.
Shop around, I've seen them as low as $70.00 from US vendors
- Have never used unprotected cells. To tell when it's time to charge, you just go by the battery indicator light color on the mod? I'm worried about over-discharging.
Don't worry, be happy! Seriously, the VTR shuts down long before any damage will occur. Mine shuts down at about 3.3 volts and going as low as 2.7 volts is fine, so no problem.
- Does the protank mini fit in where it's supposed to go on the mod? Definitely don't want it hanging on the top.
I use Protank IIs on mine, but use a long drip tip. The VTR does need a taller tank to get the mouthpiece up high enough to be comfortable.
Thanks,
Matt
Tanks are much faster to fill than cartos and the increased juice capacity means less frequent filling. However, there is more to go wrong with a tank. I general vape 70PF/30VG juice and have never found tanks fiddly but there is no shortage of people who do. In particular, feeding thick, high VG juice can sometimes be a challenge.I've never used a tank setup or had to deal with the fidgeting that apparently is part of using one. Their site say they are 3 to 4 days behind on shipping but 101 Vape has the Camo VTR for $64.99. Venerable Vaping has the normal, shiny VTR for $74.99.- Who has the best price? I see it around $100 in webshops and around $80 on ebay.
The VTR has battery over discharge protection. The light will go red and it will shortly shut down thereafter. However, you get more total hours of use from the batteries if they are lightly charged so I generally change out my batteries every time I fill a tank.- Have never used unprotected cells. Me too... I just use Ibtanked tanks and the cartos from their site and the ohm reading dealio doesn't impact my vaping at all because I don't use it for anything

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but... If your VTR has the rotating 510 connector you ARE effected by the varying ohm problem no matter what delivery system you may use. Example, if it reads the delivery device high, it will deliver more power, regardless of the mode, to maintain the power level, or voltage level, you set it for. That can result in burnt taste or even a fried coil.
Also can u get skins for them yet.
If the resistance reading varies, you will, eventually, experience some problems. This is not related to the power adjustment wheel but to the mount at the bottom for the 510 connector. If you have an early version of the VTR that mount actually rotates and that's what causes false resistance readings.
What I am saying is that IF you have the rotating mount there can be a problem, 3.2 ohms or 1.2 ohm, 4 watts or 10 watts, if the resistance reading goes haywire. Typically, a low current is used to sense the resistance each time the VTR fires. After determining the resistance it raises the power to whatever it is set for based on that reading. Problem is that the higher current can "clear" the problem that provided a high reading, hence extra power gets delivered, beyond what is actually required.
If you have a rotating mount model, count yourself among the lucky few that haven't had a problem, but keep an eye on it, just in case.
