iz2sick, you beat me to the punch. I did, essentially the same thing. I used Q-Tips (cotton buds) with ispropyl alcohol and got some gunk out of there as well. That spinning connector is a total waste and failure point. Why it's even there is beyond me. In terms of "helping" you install or remove a tank, it's about as handy as a screen door on a submarine.

The trick is to get that oil and machining residue out of there so the connectivity to the 510 connector remains stable. I got really frustrated by readings that went over three ohms on a, nominal, 2.1 ohm 30s. It also made me worry about the possibility of overpowering the 30s when the resistance drops as the current hits and improves the connectivity. To me, it looks like an easy way to blow a coil.

I haven't had any buzzing other than the standard rattlesnake with the coils once in a while. I suspect that it's a loose board or loose component on the board, probably a coil used in the boost circuit since that would have enough mass to transmit the buzz pretty nicely. I sure hope that both of these problems get addressed by innokin because I'm buying two more VTRs, one for my wife and one for a good friend, as Christmas presents.

Been hesitant to pull the trigger on a VTR after hearing how heavy it is? Or, do you already have one but wish it would enter a weight loss program?

Never fear! The VTR Trainer will soon have you lifting the VTR as if it's an nJoy cigalike!

Thoughts on the i30s

What I don't like:
No flavor
Plastic tank

What I do like:
Stainless steel
Swivel drip tip
Accommodates standard drip tip
Plenty of vapor
Capacity

Even with all the positives the lack of flavor is a deal breaker for me.

Have you tried it with higher wattage or voltage? My experience was that the flavor was lacking at "normal" power level, but started to shine at 9.0 watts and higher. Now I set it and forget it at 12.0 watts. No burning, just great flavor.

I just tried it at 12 and it burnt first hit. Using 50/50

I went up half a watt at a time with the iClear 30S, starting at the same 7.5 watts that I had gotten in the habit of using for everything. I held at 9.5 or 10.0 watts for a few days, being amazed that I could use that much power, then kept going. Thought it might have started tasting a tad burnt at 12.5 watts so backed off to 12.0.

My DIY joose is in the vicinity of 75/25 PG to VG.

I like how much vapor a 30s produces, but the flavor is definitely weaker to non-existent to me. I've tried it as high as 15 watts and anything over about 9 watts starts tasting burnt rather than bringing out any flavor.

A thought about dual coil devices in general. If you normally vape a single coil at 6 watts, to produce the same effects with a dual coil you would need to go to 12 watts to maintain performance. That's because the power, 12 watts, is divided between the two coils giving them each those 6 watts. At least that's the theory. In practice the two coils being so close will increase the heat effect more and result in burnt taste a higher wattages. At least that's my guess.
