I just got a couple extra screws for the button ... they are size "M3" at Ace Hardware, if anyone is interested, and I got them a teeny bit longer, so I have more room to play with magnets. :)
Also got needle files (?) and did the ole sandy-sandy on a new screw. Works great now.

holy cow..............you have files............and a new vocabulary sandy-sandy

Hey guys. So I just joined the Katana club!

First of all, amazing info here and thank you. With all this material, I was able to build successful wick/coils on all of my first attempts so far. This is my first genisis mod so I'm pretty impressed with that so far!!!

Couple of quick questions. I'm using the infamous bobas bounty.

Wicking with vg can be tough, but with a good wick and the fill screw removed, it seems to survive the upside down torture test and keep uP ok. When it's not tilted, the capillarie action doesn't seem as good. I'm using 400 mesh, should I try something coarser, or is there a break in period?

Secondly, the flavor has been good, but not off the wall. That I expected, but the vapor is less then I'd expect, and the th is like nothing I've ever experienced! But not really in a good way. Will I need to open the air hole to increase vaper and decrease th? This is a stock Kat and I don't want to mod and regret it.

I'm using 4-5 wraps and on a 18650 it's crazy hot. With the kick set at 10w it's cooler and more reasonable, but still the vapor to th ratio is whacked out. Any advise on any of this crap would be much appreciated!

All that being said, what an amazing machine! Can't wait to get her tuned and puking out dirty clouds of bobas! Thanks all!

Dam A short again.I vape around 3 mg nic and wta. I like the warmpth at 3 wraps.Should I use different gauge wire?I see I can do it with 32 gauge.Again it must be the wick.None of the wraps are touching,The wick is not touching the bottom or top.I do have to keep it tilted to vape it.Bottom up so the juice will flow.
This is not poor wicking ot a short actually :)

With a 3 coil wrap you are in the 1.0 ohm or less territory with 32ga kanthal. It gets hot too fast for wicking to keep up with it. You need to supply alot of air movement over the coil to prevent it from butning as well as to have the mesh flowing very nicely. You can do it, it will knock your socks off and if you're not careful will get you into nic overdose territory.

If you like a hot vape then you can do it this way. To keep the juice from burning while you're breaking in a 3 wrap coil, just pulse the button...1 second on, 1 second off while you are vaping. This will take care of the burning issue. Again, just be careful, nic delivery at that heat, done properly, is very high. :)

Chinner - Hi! Is your air intake hole on the headcap right in front of the wick? That will decrease your TH I believe ...
You can use an o-ring around the cap threads at the bottom to make it so you can get the hole where you need it, or you can spin your top plate thing. That doesn't really "modify" anything.

Actually my top cap hole isn't bad, it's not perfect but better then some I've seen as far as placement.

This is really weird, I love the th, but it's missing that creamy rich bobas vapor and it's just way too harsh. I think I'll try an extra wrap next time. Even when it's a drenched wick, the vape is still quite hot and thin.

How long do you guys give your coil/wick setup before tweaking or changing? Is there a break in period, or if it's not perfect right away should I be changing it until it is?

Thanks for the response!

What WTA juice are you using? I don't know of any... lol. Try folding the outer edge of your wick so there is a smooth surface instead of the cut surface which will have little frayed mesh. Only have to fold ~1mm.

Stove works fine, but definitely switch over to the microtorch. It makes the process SO MUCH faster than using the stove
Island - do you get the juice flavors, or just the plain concentrate and add it? How much do you add?

Also - you can use the flame from a gas stove if you have one. I make my wicks that way, haven't opened the microtorch I bought yet.

Fair enough! I actually burned myself something gnarly last night with my micro torch...got careless and accidentally raised the flame, which melted the tip of my thumbnail. Stupid me.
rwechsler - I don't mind the stove ... it's sort of a ritual. LOL

I am afraid I'll burn the kitchen down with the torch.

Ouch!
The one I got at Home Depot has a support thing that has it at about a 45 degree angle, instead of standing up like the Kitchen Torches, almost like the stands for soldering irons? It makes me nervous.
I suppose I could use it in the garage on the workbench, but that isn't metal, or very protective either.
