So guys my katana v3 works like a dream. Bore the hole to 1/16 and massive improvement on draw. Nice vapor production, the whole nine yards. However, sometimes, while I'm vaping, the draw progressively gets tighter, which leads me to believe if I bore the hole to 5/64 it would be better for draw, and vapor production would also be improved.

But the thing is, I really like draw at 1/16. I like the feeling that I get a feeling of inhaling through "something" as apposed to the idea of almighty airy draw(from how most seem to describe it, since they always warn of how airy the draw is). I can make a hole bigger but once it's done I can't change my mind and make it smaller. So many people who do the 5/64 hole and enjoy it thoroughly. I would like to think 1/64 of a difference in size isn't that drastic, and to be honest just a taaad bit more airy would be good on draw. Plus vapor would go up as I would imagine.

Is there a way to test out what a 5/64 hole feels like? Is there something to compare it to? What should I do katana family?

If you like it at 1/16, leave it at that and slow down. For me, when the draw gets tighter is cuz the wick has started acting like a straw and the juice is traveling up the wick. When this happens I set it down for a couple minutes and let the juice return to the tank. Come to think of it, the only time this happens is when I chain vape on the Katana... lol

Any hints on getting less of a heavy throat/chest hit would be greatly appreciated. 1.5mm air and fill hole, 11mg 65pg/35vg (usually use 18mg) no hot spots, 400 seasoned wick not touching posts or tank base. air hole aligned "Y" format.

Check if the wick is touching the bottom of the tank. This will cause a short, darken your juice and give harsh hits. :)

I have mine at 1/16" and it is working great. I have not noticed the draw changing at all, perhaps the chamber is filling with juice and causing that. Maybe try vaping closer to 4 o'clock instead might prevent this.

lorderos - thanks!! If I take that to Home Depot, they would have a few of them? I want back-up before I get serious about sanding it down like Scott did.

I,don't think home depot will have that, ACE probably will though. If you find one that has 5mm threaded and the rest of the shank smooth it would be even better. No sanding needed that way. :)

just got my katanav3 today. been to busy vaping on it to post. only gripe is what scott said in hisreview. the switch screw needs to be sanded. its not horrible but it is grating some. bought a pack of orings at home depot and just kept swappping till one aligned the airhole properly and holy**it, its a beast, up there with my orionv2. will probably do the topcap mod mac n rweschler did. these genisis pvs are so good i sold all but 3 of my reos. sentimental on the original wood reo is what got me off analogs. my standard woodvil n vv woodvil are just to beautiful to part with. but with an orion, my katana, andnow a zenisis ays mini. i feel i am finally ready for the zombie apocolypse.
