Hey katana peeps,
I received my katana, but im having issues with it. I'm using 15mm x 40mm 400mesh but seem to have wicking issues. When I make a coil and do dry burn before filling the tank, the coils glow evenly, with no hot spots. After filling the tank I can hold the button down for about 5 seconds before the top coil glows red which in turn gives me a very burnt flavor. What i think is happening is that the wick isn't absorbing juice fast enough to feed the top coil. Im using 70pg/30vg juice, without the fill screw, 5/4 wraps of 32awg kanthal. I love the genesis line and therefore retired my odys, and now im wanting to use my katana as my all day pv, but so far it hasn't been doing it for me.
Any help would be appreciated. Oh and here are some pics of my katanas with the rest of my collection.

Personally I do 30mm x 40mm and then trim the wick once it's installed so it's ~1mm above the top electrode screw.
Mine are about 15 x 40 also, but I drilled my fill hole a tad. Seems to be doing well since then.
I've been thinking about doing that... but idk. I don't want to make any modifications that are subjective.
loft - I am going to Ace tomorrow to get extra bottom screws, and I was just gonna get another little screw to fit the new size. Just like new - you can leave the screw in, or out .....
I don't plan on selling my Kat though, so I don't mind doing stuff for my preferences.

Loft, I didn't enlarge the fill hole on mine much, just found the next size up in the drill bits, and used that. It almost fit in, in the first place, so didn't really change it drastically. But it did seem to make a difference. I would notice before I did it, that the fill hole would retain juice, like a bubble, and I wondered if that was messing up the wicking.

How long has the wick been in place? Have you done a turn and burn to get the wick flowing?
The turn and burn is when you tilt it about 45 degrees upside down and hold the button till the juice starts to drip right through the wick and the coils can no longer glow red with the PV at that angle. It helps ALOT to break a new wick in. After that you should have no wicking issues.

I hear you there. I've got the entire POC Genisis collection including Hybrid Mini, Genisis Atomizer kit and Katana (V1 and a very special V2). None of those will ever be looking for a new home

I've had the wick in for 2 days, and thought that it would get better since that's what I've read. I've made a new wick, and bored out the fill hole to 2.8mm as per Mac_206 directions, and haven't had any issues. The wick and coil hasn't broken in yet so Im only expecting better. So far so good, and the katana will definitely become my all day PV.

I've wanted the Hybrid Mini for a loooooooong time now... almost bought one off of Bruce (Clouds of Vapor owner) but he wanted $450 for it... lolI hear you there. However - I got my NGP today and for 85 bucks... it's freaking amazing~!

I like it a lot actually... it's very light, fits in my flashlight lanyard so I can wear it around my neck - and holds enough juice to last me a couple hours. The screw electrodes are obviously a plus...
