has anyone tried oxidizing a SS wick with a small butane lighter (a la cigar lighter) or is it only possible to do so with the larger (and scarier) butane torches? i ask because i feel thai do not have a proper place to set a chef's torch down...i guess space in new york's manhattan is certainly a premium rather than privalege, haha.

patch - I do my wicks on my gas stove ....

blu - that's wonderful news! when i watch the youtube videos of oxidizing wicks with the butane torches i become deathly afraid--but the lure of the genesis atty's vapor and flavor is far too strong! i have decent experience with a gas stove, haha. do you hold them in your bare hand when doing so?

Posted this elsewhere, but I figured I'd put it up elsewhere so more people know about this trick as it's extremely helpful for those having issues setting up their genis.

Here's my DID on the COV Ω meter I just got in from Bruce. If you're having trouble setting up your DID or any other 510 genesis atomizer, I HIGHLY suggest you get one of these from cloudsofvapor.com! What I do is meter my length of R wire with my multi meter to get a control number, screw the atomizer onto the meter, turn it on, wrap my coil, and then right away I know if i have any shorts if I get a number higher than 3-4Ω or lower than 0.5-0.7Ω depending on the number of wraps and gauge of the resistance wire, and if i do, i know instantly whether or not my coil adjustments are doing any good as I make them. This method bypasses any need for the cigarette paper method and also helps you isolate exactly which adjustments provide positive results, which teaches you the proper techniques going forward so you can eliminate the need for the meter at all.

This looks like a great training tool! I think this might help new Genisis users get the techniques down much faster than without one. :)

patch - I wanted to Kick the Standard, but you would have to jam it in there pretty much, so I didn't go that far. I tried for about 10 mins to finesse it, but it was a no-go .... so I just traded that bad boy away yesterday. LOL

My Katana is pretty perfect for me at about 8.5 watts, a 5 wrap coil with 34g Kantal. I have no clue what resistance that is, but I love it.

blu - i gotta say, whatever the genesis mod makers say: that you don't need regulated power with a genesis atty, just remove one coil for more heat, etc., the performance of my katana has never been more amazing after getting kicked! it's like those first couple drags off a fresh battery but for the duration of your vape! pretty amazing stuff--i can't begin to fathom the electronics behind the kick--but that thing works like magic. been using a 5 wrap coil with 32 ag1 kanthal at 10V and this thing vapes a dream.

the only non-regulated device i have is a reo mini where i use a 1.5 Ohm bridgeless cisco 306 so i have never had to use the kick before...i have a couple DIDs on the way so i am eager to see how they work when pushing some serious voltage. should be a great vaping experience.

you are so lucky to be getting a caravela euro--a truly snazzy and most rare PV. the UK vapers are sporadically still on the fritz, but i am keeping my fingers crossed that someone on the list will drop out since i was an early alternate buyer. who knows? maybe i'll have a wonderful european reason to head to the nhaler site yet again! man, those folks in Europe be moddin' like it's going out of style!

thanks for the kick tip! it truly is like having a whole different device in your hands!

Will do. I just posted a DID preview which I'm gna follow up with a full review in a few days. If I'm in the mood, I'll film an Orion review on the same day :)

yep watched the did preview, loving the did. Availability and the fact that all parts are easily replaceable is a huge plus
