Virginia is for vapers
Here is my vape mail from yesterday. My first purchase here on the classies. A Katana v3 purchased from borncrosseyed. The deal could not have went down more awesomely, and I love it. I am a little frustrated at the moment though, as I am having a difficult time getting any vapor out of it. I am sure I will get the hang of it sooner or later.

OK, guys. I have had my Katana v3 for a couple days now, and have finally mastered wicks and coils. All of a sudden though, my Katana will not fire. I believe it has something to do with the battery nipples not making contact with the top screw (screw at the bottom of the atty). Does anyone have any input?

I seem to have it sorted out. The top screw (positive) was sunk below the black plastic wafer. I pulled off the wafer and pulled down the screw a bit with some pliers. I put the black plastic wafer back in, and everything is golden!

Quick question for the Katana crew:

I picked up a barely used V3 and so far it's been great. My experience however has been limited to ProVari's so while this question may sound a bit newb please bear that in mind.

How do you know when to take the battery out so as not to over discharge them?

I'm using the same AW IMR's that are in the ProVari and the ProVari like every other device device I own that uses batteries like this has a low voltage warning. Is it just something you know after a while as in you can see the power dropping when it starts to get down to 3.4 volts or so? I haven't gotten through a whole battery yet so I don't know what to expect. First battery is still metering at 3.7 so it's not done yet.

I know I can install a kick and use 18500's but I'm just wondering about the 18350's and 18650's.

Any input is appreciated. I'm sure it's a pretty obvious answer...just not one obvious to me.

I change my batteries when I notice a drop in flavor and vapor that's usualy around 3.7 . You can keep in longer but I but I pefer a hotter vape.

Congrats on the Katana acquisition! You must have got yours around the same time as me! I have only had mine for about 48 hours now.
As for the batteries, you simple know when they need to be charged again by the performance. When they start not hitting well and not producing vapor, they need to be charged back up.

Thanks for the answers I figured it would be something obvious. Just haven't gotten to that point yet with a battery.

The only time I've had bad production is due to flooding. It doesn't seem to like to be laying on it's side when the tank is pretty full. I'm used to just putting my provari with penelope rebuildable on it's side and not worrying about it. That's pretty obvious you can hear and feel the gurgle.

I picked it up this morning actually...drove an hour to meet the guy selling it.

Why wait for the mail when you can drive and have it sooner.

Congratulations to you also. It's nice looking device with a few minor quibbles that I'm sure in my case are user related.

And of course before I forget the obligatory Katana porn.

It's in great shape. I can't find any flaws and I'm pretty picky. The etching on the short tube is slightly more faded then on the large tube but that would be the only thing of note. I have the original spring from inside the switch but I also received a set of magnets and find I prefer them. Came with some of the original wire, mesh, and three extra tanks as well so it's not seen a lot use. Also included were extra screws.

Ezkill - once you get it running well, the Kat is the best! :toast:
Thats what I am finding. I only vape my own DIY juice, and I am finding that I will have to reduce the nic. I vape at 16mg on my ProVari using DCT cartos, and I am getting all tingly/buzzy after just a few good pulls on the Katana with the same juice. But the flavor... WOW!!! Doing Pina Colada right now :)

I had to go from 18mg to 12mg with genesis atties, and I think I could go to 8mg .... I get the "ookie feeling" if I vape to much, and I ALWAYS vape too much.

I think ill be stepping down as well. Overall the throat hit on the Penelope is more fierce but not by much. Either way between these two devices I do have step down.

The only "issue" im having right now is I basically haven't figured out a good system for the katana. If I lay it down I get some flooding in the atomizer. I assume that's because you can plug the fill hole with one of the screws I have in the baggie but all the reviews I've watched advise against doing that. Not really sure on that one. Anyway if I stand it up I find I want to turn the locking on for the fire button. I'm kind of just used to putting my other stuff flat on the table. Just don't have a good system for the katana yet.

I don't really know why it's occasionally seeping juice but it seems it's the juice hole or it's over wicking. Just not familiar enough with device yet to trouble shoot that or know if it's normal.

As far as setting it down, I just set it down standing up after I lock the switch - no big deal. It just takes a while to get used to remembering to lock it. I still pick it up without looking and spin it around and around, fingers searching for a ProVari side button that is not there.

On the juice coming out of the air cap: It is actually 2nd generation juice in the form of built up condensation. I found this out because the stock air cap is just to tight of a draw for me. I bored the air hole out to 1/16, and have not seen a single droplet come out of there sense. Its getting more air, so the condensation buildup is less (and IMHO, the draw MUCH better).
