Just a newbie saying hello. A little late to the party but I'm waiting for a Katana v2 off the classies and bliss from the website as my first foray into the genesis realm. Went through both threads, this one and the previous. A WHOLE lot of great information. I bookmarked the googledocs page that one of the poster here put together (thank you!). I'm hoping that armed with info, my first build wouldn't be a complete disaster.

Will report back after I get some hands-on time with the katana and the bliss.

Virginia is for vapers
Woohoo! Got a couple pyrex tanks coming from the UK... Can't wait, as some of the juices I like to vape are kinda harsh on tanks. I -think my current poly tank has 3 or 4 tankfuls of Pluid under its belt already... Still looks fine, and I have two more polys waiting for emergency use.

Bonjour Aoi ~ if your first build is a disaster seek help from someone here. And just keep with it. Once you get it you will never look back. I struggled for a while with it but enjoyed every bit of it. Once I got it I feel a huge sense of accomplishment now. And my vape tastes better than it ever has. Good luck and be patient

Hi guys I'm really really at the end of my tether here :(
I recieved a katana V2 yesterday and I've had many many genesis attys/mods and they've all came with a bit of a learning curve but I've overcome the learning curve with a couple of hours faff,
Then katana V2 arrived and I've been recking my Brain trying to figure out why it's not wicking,
Its got an extra hole for a u wick so I know it's not an airflow issue, I vape 100% VG and I've tried both #325 and #400 mesh at different widths, I've tried .20 .16 and double twisted .16 kanthal and no matter what I try there is no juice goin through the wick and the coils are glowing, this even happens when I turn the katana upside down apart from the occasional blast I get of just pure flavour with hardly any vapor,
PLEASE help me someone I'm in despair here I've only had the katana 2 days and I'm already thinking of getting rid

I think you may have a vacuum issue. when a standard (non-U wick) wicks it uses the capulary action and a bit of vacuum to pull the juice up the wick. so when you get the wick going it will keep going hence why it works better without the fill screw. I think with the 2 holes you might just have too much airflow and not enough vacuum. I think your wicks are probly fine since you have much experience with them. but I use a wick that is roughly just over 1 mm thick. It slides pretty cleanly and easily through the wick hole but when its wet I can almost position it anywhere and wrap. I hope this helps Curtis

Thanks alot for the reply
I've been experimenting again all day,
I did think it could be something to do with it having to much air going into the tank which was causing the wicking issue so I sealed the second hole that was made for a u-wick up with a piece of oxidized mesh,
Still the same result though I'm afraid I can literally tip the katana upside down and I'll still get glowing coils, I tried the mesh in a zen atty and it works just fine :(
I think it's going to be the mod I have had for the least amount of time ever

I wonder if by modding it to U-wick style it messed up the feng shui of the unit. I am sad that your not having success with it. Maybe you could get a new inner piece for the top and redrill the holes to make it standard issue again? I have my days where sometimes it takes me a 2 times to get the wick right but lately I seem to be on a roll for getting the stuff just right. Its definately tricky. This was my second genesis. I made one from scratch custom and it didn't work nearly as well as the Katana. Picture 41.jpg

Maybe you could try one of those plugs that go in the end of the cartos .... (I hate the "name" ...LOL)

Just temporarily to see if it really helps.

That's a good idea ;)
I would really like to get this mod up and running rather than pass it on to someone else,
I'll give the carto plug a go and report back tomorrow
Thanks for the tip :)
