Yep, I am the proud owner of a brand new 8" sieve. Now I will get some spares to never use.....
What are you guys doing to go through insulators so fast!? Mine look as good as the day I got it, and I've had one KFL for 6 months!
I just got 10 from them. I think it was about $13 with shipping. They're a perfect fit on my clones, but I haven't had to try one on my genuine KFL yet.
Master of Bassets...and not much else.
AMEN to that!I wish someone had just handed me a KFL+ and a ProVari and some instructions, right at the very beginning. But I guess I had to start there ... to appreciate here, as much as I do.![]()
Hey Doc. No or little vapor is usually due to lack of juice to the coil. I say that because 1.4-1.7 ohm coils should be performing fine at 3.7-4.0 volts under normal circumstances. You didn't say what gauge kanthal your coil is built with. If it is 28ga it can take some time to warm up and may require a bit more power to work correctly. You also didn't say what your wicking material is. I am using cotton. Enough to slide into the coil with a bit of resistance. Then I trim it to about the same width as the base. Wet it well with juice, then I nest it against the vertical wall of the build deck, keeping it away from the juice channels (it lays on the small deck below the build deck, pushed up against the wall, but back from the juice channel). If you do this correctly, you should be able to screw on the lower chimney portion without having to fiddle with the wicks.
Every so often, take a primer puff without firing your device. You should see a little air bubble rise up; that means the juice is feeding properly. The height of your coil above the build deck and air hole is important too. I set it at about 1mm. The coil should be centered above the air hole on the build deck; I usually set it diagonally between the posts, this allows the wet wick to make kind of an "S" shape as it exits the coil and lays on the lip below the build deck.
For the record, a good coil to use for baseline is a 30ga micro coil, wrapped on a 5/64" drill bit or screwdriver, 9 wraps will come in at 1.8 ohm +/-. Set it and wick it as described, and see how it goes from there. If you are still having problems, feel free to PM me, and I will tear mine down so you can see what I am doing. Good luck.
