Did you read my post? I *said* I filled it thru the bottom hole! That's the only fill hole on the thing! And I filled it only about 40% full! So why is it doing this?

Andria

No Ma'am, I didn't. For the same reason as yours, just read the highlights. And I AM SORRY!

Ok, a very simple question, from a complete newbie to kayfuns, and I really don't want to read 976 pages to find out if the answer has already been posted, and the search is no help whatever, I searched "kayfun filling" and got about 16 pages of results, and that's useless.

Is there any way at all to fill it, without having to spend 30 minutes afterward blowing out the flood so it won't gurgle?

I got the coil made, yay, though I probably should do another with lower resistance, but for the moment, the coil I made *is* working, even if it is 2.1 Ω.

Followed all the instructions from the Busardo video (kayfun lite vs. russian 91%) and got it all put back together, and I filled it the way he did, from the top. Nothing but gurgle, I must have wasted 2 or 3 ml of juice. So I spent about 20 mins blowing it out, FINALLY got it to where it would vape, and it's really nice, so I thought, well I'll fill it the *proper* way, from the screw on the bottom Did that, and again, nothing but gurgle, spent 15 mins blowing it out, still not done, but I thought hell with it, I need to ask somebody what I'm doing wrong here.

Any clues, tips, hints, secrets, ANYTHING that I should do differently, so it will stop doing this? I'd really rather inhale from it, than blow into it for the rest of the evening.

thx!!!
Andria

Maybe it should be reset to specific items Dusty. Some of the remarks were uncalled for. IMHO. No one knows everything. If you do, then climb on your cloud and have a nice day. Some of us still want to learn.

Well, it seems to be working now; although it did leak some after filling it again, which emerged when I did the blowing-out, it was only a few drops, rather than a sputtering flood as it was before. Even after I tried filling it from the bottom the first time, it must have been still flooded from the initial fill I did from the top, trying to do it the way Busardo did. Don't think I'll be trying that again, and I don't understand why he would recommend something so fraught with the certainty of flood; I've always liked his reviews and instructions and explanations, but that one just doesn't work.

Is that few drops leakage always going to happen, or was that just the end of the original flood?

Yes, I did it the wrong way first, thanks to Busardo. THEN I did it the right way, but it was still spitting sputtering and leaking a flood, so I figured filling it the proper way had caused that, but it must have been still the flood from the first fill.

This time I did it the right way again, and it's not spitting and sputtering, but it did leak a bit. Just wondering if I'm STILL doing something wrong.

I don't usually bother to top fill my KFL unless it's a fresh build, and not even always then. You can actually fill it more from the fill screw. Just fill it to the top of the glass and no more (when looking at it upside down). You need to leave a little air in there, otherwise you end up with wicking issues.

Assuming the wicking and seals are sound, it shouldn't flood at all when bottom filling it. In your case, maybe it was just left over from top filling it before.

I'll throw this out there too because I don't see where you mentioned how you were holding it when you were trying to clear the flood. If it floods for whatever reason, cover the air holes with a paper towel, hold it upside down, and then blow through it to clear the flood. Should only take a puff or two on the KFL.

Stick around, read, learn, share..read some more, just how we all did. How do you think the Busardo's and Rip Trippers of the world learn these things?!

There's no magic fairy that waves their wand and teaches them things.

For Gods sake drop the attitude when somebody is trying to help you. We are not being paid to put up with the negative attitude. We are just fellow vapers that have learned through trial and error and are taking the time to share our experience.

One more nasty post, and I will start to take action. End rant!!

Andria , filling from the top does work as well , Busardo's not trying to steer you wrong , as Dusty said the chimney section is a common culprit for flooding especially when refilling from the top , the o-ring in the top cap grabs the chimney section and loosens it , as far as filling from the top , don't tighten the top cap all the way before you flip the atty upside down , tighten the top cap leaving 1 turn then flip the atty upside down finish tightening the top cap and wait a few seconds for the air bubble to reach the top then turn it rightside up , takes a lot less time to do then explain . I usually get a gurgle or two after I rewick because I tend to soak the new wick and coil with juice before I reassemble . Both methods of filling do work , filling from the top takes a little more patience and technique .

I once had an issue where one of my kfls was leaking and sputtering like crazy. I would rewick and refill over and over and still the same thing. I finally took a good look at it and it was cross threaded on one side of the plastic section. I finally got it apart and screwed it on properly and all was well. I used to fill through the screw hole but now I'm too lazy.. I always fill from the top now, whether refilling or the initial fill.

End it Dusty. This is nonsense to me. Everyone here has had a problem or two or five with their KFL's Go tell it to the judge. or return it and see if you get your money back. I'm so sick and tired of people gripping about something that is suppose to be "FOR ADVANCED VAPORS ONLY"
Some of us will gladly spend the time to do the information needed to do a proper build. Go back to your nova's, kangers.
I'm out of this crap. ECF is going downhill as fast as my shop is.

Hi Donnah, this just made me laugh in lieu of the stuffy atmosphere!! I read and read and read until I got my first KFL+ from Cloud and your troubling experiences saved me alot of headache!! Among you, Bronze,Dusty,Q and many more that I don't mean to leave out, thanks for sharing your experiences with us all!

Thank you all for the info here. I've learned a lot. About a month into vaping only. Got a provari but not too happy with the nautilus. I've bought a kayfun lite plus clone on eBay and some prebuilt 1.8 ohms coil too on eBay as I don't know how bad I would be building my own. Thank you all for the info!

That was actually my husband's fault; he knew I was having issues and was trying to get help for it here, and just kept blathering at me, and when I snapped at him to leave me alone, he started screaming at me like a 3 yr old. After a long hot afternoon of frustration, that was the last straw. But, I did say in my post that I had tried it the right way, but still got a flood. These things are completely new to me, I have no idea what they will do, or what I should do about it, so I did try to explain what I had already done, and what happened thereafter. I forget that info in the middle of a paragraph is not read and understood as clearly as what's at the top.

As a husband too, care to tell me when is it NOT our fault?! ;)

Do you scream at your wife? I bet she would get a mite huffy if you did. :D Especially if she'd already been frustrated out of her mind at whatever.

I have another question, this one not so earthshaking, just wondering. About the airflow control. I see there's another aperture of some sort on the bottom, and I see this L-shaped tool in the included parts... is that the correct tool for adjusting that? It seems just a little airy to me, because I like to feel some resistance in the draw -- haven't been quit smoking all that long. ;)

Answer to first question: ARE YOU MAD?! I get into enough crap with her by being nice to her. Why on earth would I scream at her?! :D

Answer to second question: Not familiar with the Kayfun 3.1 clones, but somebody will come along and provide an answer for you. If your husband comes back into the room, grab a broom, and swat him across the head with it.

Correct. The screw has a hexagonal hole in it and the L-shaped tool is hexagonal and fits into the hole. You'll most likely get a bit of a whistle as you tighten the draw. Just the nature of the design.

In case you missed it, when you try to blow out the Kayfun because of flooding, you want to do it upside down otherwise you'll be blowing until you empty the tank.
