Blue-Check age verification requires....
Last 4 digits SS#
Selfie of you holding driver's license without obscuring your face.
cell phone number to receive the 4-digit SMS code that is entered before paying for your order.

I guess I won't be ordering from any vendor that uses Blue-Check.

There are dinosaurs out there — like me — who don't have a cell phone of any kind. And I'm not getting one, and paying $1,000+ per year, just so I can order vape supplies.

So as far as I'm concerned, vendors using Blue-Check can take it and stuff it where the sun don't shine.

I wonder what they will do if they don't find a document or they find one with your exact name that isn't you. I just google my full name and found 1 hit. It said I lived in the wrong state, wrong address and that I died in 2001.
They said they have you send them a drivers license

I just placed an order with Halo.

There was a new "Age Verification" tab added to the process.
All I had to do was put in my date of birth.

But I have an account there, and logged in prior to checking out.
So there you go.

I read about this somewhere, where if you had an account with certain vendors since so n so date, then you didn't have to jump through all the hoops. I wish I could remember where I read that. I'm going to leave "Veratad" until this can be confirmed.

I’m very concerned about where this is going. We’ve all been buying things for years, with full knowledge (I’d hope) about the associated exposure. Right now there are vendors who are struggling like crazy to stay in business, many with the full knowledge that it won’t even be possible once the end of this year rolls around.

So here were are creating what amounts to a Black List, containing names of people we’ve come to know, come to trust, and in many cases, come to truly care about. With little or no effort we might swipe away any possibility they have of hanging in here, with us mind you, until the final curtain falls.

Most of us are already angry, already sad, and already very confused. What purpose are we serving if we condemn a vendor, be them friends or acquaintances, here in this venue? Can’t we just do our homework, make our decisions, and wish everyone (vendors AND vapers) the very best for now and future?

I don’t know about any of you, but our (XXX) legislators have already done more damage to these people (and us, yes!) than I care to obsess over. I don’t want to hurt them anymore than they already are, and if I decide to not buy from someone, for WHATEVER reason, I’d prefer to just keep that to myself.

I get what we were trying to do here, but I implore everyone to have some compassion for the vendors, some of whom have become true friends, and are in reality simply vapers - just like us.

THEIR worlds will turn upside down in 2017. Many will lose what they have put their lives into creating, and may have to go back to jobs they never thought they’d EVER need to return to. This whole thing is truly heartbreaking to me, and I hate to see it be made worse for anyone, even IF the intentions were & are good.

I get what you're saying DP and I agree with some of what you said. Black list....maybe so. That wasn't my intention when I started this thread. My intention was to find vendors I didn't have to give too much personal info that could be abused. It may seem selfish but I have to look out for myself first because nobody else will. If the deeming BS isn't overturned or changed, then most if not all vendors will be out of business anyway. In the meantime, if I accept these ridiculous requirements, all of my personal info will be out there for anybody to do what they will with it.

I understand exactly what you're saying TM, yet as Racehorse so accurately stated, that horse has left the stable. Our info IS out there.

And I know that your intentions were good, and helpful. And I also know that all this will become something we place in our memory banks some day.

The information in this thread is good and valuable, and my suspicion is that it will change and evolve as time goes on.

Absolutely, TM - I know that wasn't the intention, and I'm totally supportive of collecting & sharing information.

I just hope that things remain much more objective than subjective in the longest of runs. My post was not an assault at you (you know I'd never), and instead just an attempt to keep people thinking about the biggest picture, before too many judgments and/or opinions are expressed.

And sorry about that, @Robino1 - I know I pushed that one out of anger. Thanks for covering my rear.

Unless I'm incredibly naive, there are a limited amount of people/businesses that have a photocopy of my driver's license or my SSN. I would rather keep that number as low as possible.

Just ordered from myvaperstore. Order went thru with no issues or questions. They did mention in their policies that they use Veratad. I have ordered from them before.

Thank you. That goes along with what I said before about being a previous customer.

After reading all the posts of age verification methods that are crappy to say the least. I did have to send a scan of my DL so I can buy nic up here in Canada. With me having a Canadian billing address and credit card along with a US shipping address, I don't think its going to be a good experience when I have this bluecheck verification to attempt to pass. As mentioned before I can buy my DIY gear from non vape sites but I did stock up on my tobacco concentrates so I don't have to worry for a few years. Beginning to dabble in NET's so I wont have to rely on any vape site for anything until my hitters begin to die off.

Contacted Vape Shop, and this is basically their procedure.
Provide cell# after completing age verification info. A text message will be sent to verify that it is you making the order.
If you are under 27 take a pic along with your DL.
They are working on a new website that will hopefully be less intrusive.

My thoughts exactly and that's what I told Ecig.com, which happens to be one of my favorite vendors.
I was thinking the same thing and suggest that if anyone decides NOT to go through a particular vendor's AVP that you shoot them an email to let them know. If they get enough negatives and lise a lot of business they may go to something more reasonable.

Wa-a-a-ay, wa-a-a-a-ay in a another world far long gone, when you were issued your SS# to apply for your very first job around 16, the SS Ofc. would admonish you not to give your number out to anyone other than your employer........Now it's become a National I.D. Number......Might as well tattoo it on our wrists.

I remember way, way back when you had to put your SSN on a check when you paid for merchandise. Some people routinely had it placed on their checks under their address when they ordered their checks. Me? I would just spout off 9 random numbers whenever a clerk asked for it and let them write it on my check. But somewhere along the way the practice of using a SSN for identification purposes when making a purchase by check was made illegal. It could no longer be asked for in merchandise transactions. My SSN also used to be my driver's license #. That practice was also abolished. And now, they want you to go right back to using it again as identification in transactions? Online no less? WTH

I do have compassion for vendors, but only for those who work to find ways stay in business without getting my SSN. For all others - not much. They do not have compassion for me. If they have trouble staying afloat - it's their problem, and it has nothing to do with me. I do like to see list of businesses who do not require SSN for age verification. Period.
