Okay, I went through all 12 pages and did not see it mentioned so hope I did not miss it.

Age verification is a farce. The whole purpose of it is so that an underage person cannot buy something online that they are to young to buy. CC's require you to be of legal age to have one. So we need to stop the children that are using their parents CC - well if the children have access to your CC then they have access to all the info needed for age verification... It is not a live transaction...

Just received this e-mail from vapejoose:

"Online Age Verification Does Not Work

As of August 8, 2016 the FDA’s Deeming Regulations went into effect stating that for every transaction containing “Tobacco Products” the vendor must verify the customer is over 18 years old. In face-to-face transactions this is simple by showing your government issued photo id. However online it becomes much more difficult, and the technology doesn’t quite seem to be there to fully support proper age verification techniques.

BlueCheck does not offer any support options for vendors or consumers other than a ticket system which does not appear to get checked. That is why I’m writing this blog post to point out the flaws in their system and explain why we are removing BlueCheck from Vapejoose.com.

After 72 hours of running BlueCheck age verification plugin here is what we’ve found:

    1. The BlueCheck plugin is easily bypassed by closing the plugin, allowing customers to checkout without providing age verification. This essentially makes the entire service worthless.

    2. Customers over the age of 27 are still being prompted for photo identification.

    3. International customers are occasionally being prompted for photo identification.

    4. Verification time is suppose to be 20 seconds, however some customers have reported having to wait up to 36 hours for SMS verification code.

    5. There is no way to complete age verification without a mobile telephone, which many customers do not have.

    6. For many customers there are several assorted errors that prevent checkout, even after successfully completing the age verification process.
After researching many age verification options, and researching the ins-and-outs of the deeming regulations we’ve found a major flaw in the other age verification options available. The next largest age verification provider available only has a 60% match rate for age verification data and according to the PACT act (the same act that requires online retailers to use a third party age verification system) we are not allowed to manage the failed transactions. BlueCheck is the only service we’ve discovered so far that manually validates failed transactions, meaning with other popular age verification services 40% of customers would have to be turned away with no option of verifying their age.

Until a better option is available to online retailers that actually works more than 30-40% of the time, provides timely support to both vendors and consumers, and manually validates failed verifications, Vapejoose.com will not be using third party age verification software. If you’ve already gone through the age verification process, thank you, if you’ve had difficulty checking out over the last few days please try again today.

To voice your comments or concerns about these changes please comment below or email hello@vapejoose.com"

I agree but kids will be kids. Like I said on another thread, if kids want something bad enough they will find a way to get it. If parents care about their kids health, they probably encourage their kids to vape rather than smoke if they know they are smoking and just let them use their CC. This whole mess isn't about the kids anyway. It's about Big Tobacco losing profits but I'm getting away from the purpose of this thread ranting about BT.

Sorry, was not trying to sway the thread. I am just very glad you started the thread - from what I have seen so far it sounds like there is one viable AV and the rest are questionable - now if we can get our favorite vendors to swing in our direction...

You didn't get a page after you hit "Place this order" that said to send them a pic of your driver's license?

    Edit: what is EVS?
No, I didn't. I just went back to ecig.com just now and put stuff in my cart and I got a regular screen. I did note the following tho.
    This is what I saw
Listed above where you input your cc info they have

'If you enter an address other than the one on file with the credit card's issuing bank, or an incorrect CVV code, ecig.com will deny your transaction for security purposes. Additionally, the funds may be held by your bank for up to 5 days before being released back to the card. You may also be asked to email your ID.'

Then on the right side of screen where it shows what you are purchasing along with shipping amount is a check box that says

'I accept the terms & conditions of the sale and certify that I am 18 years old or older'....

I did not completing the purchase at this time .

Where before, they did have a screen pop up that asked for dob, last 4 of ssn. And then listed why they wanted this info which is included in my original post on this thread here

List of vendors Age Verification requirements.

and then a few post down listed I all of those links to show what EVS is.

    Hope this helps.
    :)

That is my next mission. I will be calling my favorite vendors to see what AV they are using and if it's not Veratad I'll tell them what I've learned here and ask them to look into it. I hope others will do the same.

Oh gez! I'm sorry. I forgot all about that post. CRS

Well your experience and mine were different. Have you ordered from ecig.com before? I have many times so maybe that's why they didn't ask for DOB or last 4 of SSN or maybe they did and I don't remember. CRS again.

I'll try to figure out how to change the list to reflect EVS.

Another thing...when you went back to do a test purchase, you didn't complete the transaction. I did and that's when I got the page that said they wanted a photo ID.

You are right that may be the difference. And yes, I have ordered from ecig.com many times in the past.
I looked all over their site tonight to try to find any info on AV and found zilch. So I am not sure why(if they are still doing it) that they wouldn't inform their customers, since AV is a huge concern to their customers. I even looked at their FB page. Nothing there about AV either. I guess when I am ready to order and IF I use them to order from, I will find out. But rest assured, if they wait until after a sale is completed(as in your case) to tell me to send a photo id, I will cancel immediately.

    :)

I placed an order with RTSVapes today. Seems I was verified before 8/8 and am still showing up as verified so am not sure which company they are using for verification. Hopefully someone else has ordered from them and we can find out. If I am remembering it correctly they did ask for my birth date when I placed my last order for nicotine a couple of weeks before the doom date and doing that verified me. I have searched their site and haven't found out how they do their verification but in my case they just needed my birth date.

I simply can't hold it back anymore ---

Many of these vendors have been your Friends. Please don't give them more headaches by publicly suggesting that they are breaking the law.

Please Do Not Post the Names of Any Vendors who you THINK might not be doing a third party verification system. They very well may be working their buns off getting it set up or have put in another system that hasn't been discussed much. Plus, it's off topic for the thread title.

"If I am remembering it correctly they did ask for my birth date when I placed my last order for nicotine a couple of weeks before the doom date and doing that verified me."

The way this thread has been going, RTTS would be on the list as "no verification" when it really might be another more sophisticated system. IMHO, they would have the $$ to have a less obvious one in place.

Some of our vendors are 'puter guru's and might have even developed their own system. There are systems in place that are discrete, and the buyer would have no evidence a check has been done.

I know it is a confusing mess right now -- but for gosh sakes read some of what is on this thread. Just because you are asked to do a selfie or whatever really only means that your data can't be verified or something isn't adding up. Perhaps you never put in your correct birthday last year when you set up your account, or used a fake or now extinct phone number. As we all know, typos can create havoc, too.

@tmcase I understand your intention to help, but please reconsider in your dreams, and edit that list in the morning, or simply delete it.
