I'm still waiting for it anxiously as well, i hope its in time for next payday, which will be the 29th fer me anyway, if not ill probably end up buying my usual joye 510 and 306, some peeps are saying the HH.357 is pretty nice or the cisco spec HR 306 3.0ohms are good as well, i dont typically take quick short sharp draws so im not sure a hh.357 is for me or not, the price is pretty good though if it lasts at least 2 months i mean

I use the HH-357 almost exclusively, and I've had a couple that I've had since January, and they're still going strong. I had two that I got back in October and they both went within a week of each other, but lasted until March. I love them. You get used to the way they hit...then you're spoiled. :) I highly recommend them.

So, JC, how did the BFF/Chalice compare with them, in your opinion?

Well, didn't get as many chances to test it as I would have liked (I wanted to take it home with me for a week and really give it a workout, you understand...... :)), but I really liked it. Your setup (Chalice WITH the VV Grand) had two variables, so I'm not sure I was loving the Chalice or loving the VV. I've only used the 357s with 3.7 straight vaping and I love it. And I loved your setup. I think the bottom line is.....I need a Chalice and I need a VV Grand. With that setup, I'd be willing to give up the 357s.

edit: hindsight is 20/20, but looking back, I wish I had put the Chalice on my 3.7 REO for a few hits....then I'd have a true comparison point.

Oooooh another lucky sampler :)
I'm glad it's you JC!

Yeah, we had a little "Okie" vapemeet a few weeks back in my hometown at the Vapor Kings vape lounge and Clyde brought the Chalice (beta version....lucky duck) and his VV REO Grand (beta version....lucky duck AGAIN!!!) and wowed all of us. I got to hit on it many, many times and I really did love it. Just the idea of a repairable atty has always been a dream of mine. I did love it....very smooth hits...looks GREAT...I love, love, love the size. I've somehow always thought (or the other ones I've seen) that they had to be big and bulky. This little thing is sweet. He took it apart so I could see the "guts" and it looked soooo "do-able" to me. I've been pricing lighted magnifying glass set-ups (I wear bi-focals) so I could work on it....and I'm just dying to get one. It's the first time (although I've WANTED ONE for a long time) that I really thought a rebuildable atty was something I could deal with. It's definitely a "new frontier" in my vaping education. I've learned so much in the past two years about everything vaping, that I figure I'm ready for this.

LOL, I've been looking at magnifying setups as well! Trying to decide between a magnifying visor or a magnifying glass on a stand....

Ha. Me, too. I'm thinking a magnifying glass on a stand with a gooseneck....something like that. Not sure about lighted, but think probably that would be best. I've looked on ebay and Amazon, but haven't really settled on anything. My whole house has been taken over with vaping (who am I kidding....my whole LIFE has pretty much been taken over by it!!) and I'm trying not to get carried away with this and get something too big.

As it is, I have DIY juice making supplies and equipment spilling over everywhere (no kids or pets around) and now I'm thinking I'll have drawers and boxes full of wick material, Kanthal wire everywhere, magnifying set up out all the time....here we go.

Well, after posting above, I went to Amazon and decided to try both.

This glass seems to have the largest area, so Im not squinting trying to see what I'm working on:

Carson LM-20 2X LED Illuminated Magnifier & Desk Lamp: Amazon.com: Sports & Outdoors

and this visor is cheap enough that I thought it would at least be worth ordering to see if I like this type of magnification better. If I do, I can order a better one later:

Amazon.com: SE MH1041LC led lighted head magnifier: Health & Personal Care

They should be here in a week or so.

I'd personally go with the desk lamp because this guy.

So it's been about a month since Clyde first reported on this unit. Clyde, care to give us an update? How much are you using this atty now? Any new observations? What kind of wick and coil and what length of time do you use them before replacing? What kind of cleaning do these require?

Thanks

And that guy is who you want to rebuild your atty for you (I bought the same cheapo vizor locally as Kazz found on Amazon, and prefer it to my 2x power lighted lamp.) except that he's wearing monocular night vision goggles. My real preference would be for Anthony Michael Hall to build me a Kelly LeBrock; there are SOME things I can put down Excalibur for.

My VV Grand is acting up, I think I may have gotten a bit of juice onto the button which gummed it up; which was the bane of my existence during my Darwin phase. The modmaster has graciously agreed to look at the VVG for me. But I'm still ragged out from my 15+ hour drive to and from St. Louis this weekend, so I'm not in physically good enough shape to recoil the BFF/Chalice for 3.7v in the interim. (Though I did verify that the BFF is still working, just in case.)

OTOH, I did get a chance to try the regular Grand with a 2ohm boge carto for the trip. Great little setup, dependable little vape with a full bottle and spare battery (and carto, just in case) for a long road trip.

I'll try to recuperate, and get my goggles back on for a ss LR rewiring soon.

I guess option 3 won the vote on facebook for the look of the chalice, so at least we kinda know what it will look like for sure

thing is, im not so sure itll fit on my PV, i use a custom 6amp maximum str8tek mod w/ 510 connection and drip cup, im just not sure itll fit in the drip cup, id need the width of the bottom of option 3 chalice to know for sure if itd fit or not

If it's not am I still just as cool? It's the future me...I don't have the $$$$ to pay for that beautiful tattoo yet. I thought you've seen my pic before? I'll PM you!

BTW, I did get around to posting a recent picture of myself on the Reo subforum in all of my pasty-middle aged goodness.

I have a str8tek VV. Its also a 510 and has a large brass drip cup, in fact larger than the standard Reo Grand drip cup. So I would guess if it fits in the Reo it should more than fir in the str8tek, assuming Chris uses the same drip cup on all his mods.

Hey there folks! I was just looking around in here! Thought I would make myself known. I was wondering if you were using a stainless steel wick on your Chalice. I am using one in my MY-T Atomizer and it's working better than the wicking material. Kind of made it like an upside down Zen into the spike for the Type B Cart.

Yes, I am, Dan. Liking it immensely. But I have to ask, what is a my-t? When you mean it works like an upside down Zen, do you mean the tank is over the coil instead of underneath it?

EDIT: Did some research, and saw that the My-T appears to be a bulli a2-TM clone or style atty. I do remember seeing how some clever folks modded that into a vertical ss wick like the genesis.

But the chalice's wick configuration is like the standard bulli a2 and Mark T Infinity Atty in that it stays horizontal against the floor of the atty and lets the Reo do all the work in supplying juice to it. A small squonk supplies enough juice for a few drags, and releasing the bottle sucks any excess juice back into it.
