Okay, so it's not me...

Thought the BFF was a helluva lot harder to thread in the holes with this last coil...turns out the diodes turned a bit on me....may have over tightened the top screws a bit. Was able to manually adjust them to line up easy-peasey, and no problems with the mod after that (thank God). Sent in an email to Mark to ensure everything's still groovy.

Oh, Hi Keekers!

Clyde, just wondering if you and/or Keith would be good enough to give us a little video preview of how it vapes and also maybe some show and tell with how you are making wicks and wrapping coils. Pretty Please! It might help hold us over till a release date is announced. Also a couple of questions. I'm not sure how long you've had your BFF, but am wondering about the life span of the wick and coil. I've seen reviews of other RBA's that state the need to replace the wick about once a month, and the coil maybe once a week. Just wondering if you have any insight yet as to how the BFF compares in that regard.

Neither one. It's just harder to thread the ends of the coils into the holes in the posts when the holes are facing the wrong way.

Think of threading a needle when the other, far side of the needle is partially blocked.

And the lifespan of the wick and coil depend heavily on the materials used, the skills and techniques of the person doing it, and how hard its vaped.

I like to use 2mm silica wick (thick bulli) in a single strand with 3-4 loops of kanthal wrapped around it. No need for needles, paperclips, etc., to hold things in place while you wrap the coil. The bulli wick gives out after 3-4 days of hard vaping, and I usually just start with a new coil then. It's a rebuildable where the wicks cost roughly five cents per coil...so I'm not afraid of recoiling just for the heck of it.

Oxidized SS mesh for wick can be resused a few times, and simply recoiled. More effort to ensure it's properly oxidized when it's sitting on the floor of the mod, or else it'll short out and not create any heat. OTOH, it does create a very clean, hot burn that really allows you to taste your juice.

And hildicat, you're probably thinking of a genesis or zenesis mod where partially oxidized SS mesh is formed into t straw that dips down into a juice tank below it. Not a bad setup, but not Reo friendly. It also is exclusively a tanker, you cannot really drip different juice onto the top of it.

Hope this helps, may consider a video review.

Yup, what I'm picturing is that genesis, straw type wick. I take it the BFF uses something else. Any chance you might link to a video of another RBA that uses the same style wick? Sorry to be so needy, but never been much of a reader, I need visual aides to really learn a new concept!

The Mark T Infinity is the closest one to it (except for not being a bottom feeder, it's almost identical). The bulli a2 is roughly the same concept.

The Reo (or other bottom feeder mod) directly squirts juice through the 510 connection itself into the coil on the floor of the mod. Releasing the bottle sucks the excess juice back into it.

I found this video review for the infinity...
Repairable Atomiser Head to Head Part 1 - Mark-T Infinity Bug - YouTube

Is it safe to assume the BFF is akin to the infinity in drip mode, but with an open center post? A squonk forces the juice up to wet the wick, then vape away, right?

Sorry if this seems obvious to everyone else, but I'm kinda thick like that. I still would love to see a video of someone actually replacing the wick and coil. The guy in the posted video skipped over that part.

Been informed of a few things via email by Mark this morning:

1. The BFF is indeed a prototype. There will be a couple of changes, including making the holes in the diodes a bit bigger to make 'threading the needle' easier.

2. The design is tentatively named the Chalice.

3. There are currently 2-3 designs up for consideration for the final design. Vapers will be given an opportunity to vote on which one makes it into production.

That's all I know. Really, truly. I'll post further details as they become available. Another good place to looks for news and hints is on Mark's Wizard ecig thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ajitorul-smallest-lightest-mod-ever-made.html

OTOH, I guess this means mine, not being officially named, can stay the 'BFF'. Though it may be a evolutionary cast off or dead end, it doesn't mean I don't like vaping it one bit less.

I'll still be proudly showing her to anyone who will listen in Tulsa next weekend.

Take your time, get some glasses if you've got older eyes, and you'll get the hang of it. Couple of minutes fiddling for a couple of days great vaping? Worth it to me!

This atty with the Reo is the best experience I've ever had, hands down, (so far).
No glasses needed but I sure do wish they came with a tutorial!
I really want. A lot. The atty.
You're my favoritest Clyde to flirt with
