Actually here is an update:

The "Janty" products Eastmall has, are ILLEGAL.

I have checked up on this now with joyetech, and they have not, and will not produce for them.

One thing is rebranding - ofcourse i dont know all of the shops that do rebrand as i have other things to attend to - but this just turned into a serious matter.

We have given Eastmall a 48 hour warning, before we will take legal action, seeing as those products are our copyrighted, and patented products - and take it from there.

So - if you hear people speaking about those products, please do warn them: We know now, for a fact, that the PCB onboard is crap and that the units they are selling could very well be dangerous as their safety mechanism are poor at best. And then ofcourse, they arent original products.

So now you know!
Any update wrt this?

In what regard sorry?
Wrt my quote of what you had previously posted (your post #82). Not the nitty gritty but any new development that can be discussed either here or via PM.

I believe the vaping community has a right to know about this kind of thing, especially when there could be safety implications involved, and I applaud you bringing them to light.

We know that there is a lot of copying going on, but when companies use rejected material, it causes concerns for the community, don't you think? I further believe it is in everybody's interest to expose such practices if we are ever going to retain the right to vape in a safe and efficient manner. Don't you think?

i got an e-mail from EastMall on 19.04 proclaiming the riva being "a improved version for eGo".

listing the same "improvements" as in their supplier board and it don't seems like they care for any problems they may drive into.

from the pure looks of it, i don't see improvement. they messed the design totally up.

if this is joye, janty should maybe think of a different manufacturer.

Hey guys,

1) this is NOT a Joye product. I know who makes the fake, but wont say it here - its pointless. But it is not a Joye.

2) One thing is for us to go after them legally, another thing is for us to begin discussing this with the customers/public. I dont think this is necessary to be honest. I mean afterall if you decide to go and buy a cheap clone, then you get what you pay for = even if that means it might explode in your face. That is not our responsability - and it is impossible for us to babysit the entire world. We make quality products, we make sure they are safe; but you make the choice. A penny saved, is definately not always a penny earned in these cases. Personally i will always rather buy the original, than a copy - simply because the original has more soul, more time put behind it, and that always translates into a better product.

It was obvious than eGo will have clone, eGo is the best ecig so ...

Cheap clone doesnt mandatory mean it will explose, but Mik is right about soul and creativity.

I will probably buy one to have THE clone i like to collect things :), but i already own 3 janty eGo (one for each color) and 1 titanium, for personnal vaping :D

But now, i want XL batteries !!!!!!!!!!!!

I must be insane, but I'm thinkin of pullin the trigger on an eGo. God, I've already invested WAY too much on vaping hardware but I'm intrigued.

So the question is - how close is the Xl batt to being delivered? It'd totally piss me off if I bought the eGo set and 3 weeks later Janty has an Xl set.

Can you throw me a bone on rough shipping date on the Xl?
You mean vaporware? :p

Thanks that is good enough for me.

Problem is people who don't read forums, buy a clone, and then run around saying "Product X is crap". Providing of course they still can say it …

Happened more than a few times with 510s: "It's barely better than a 901, don't know what the hype is about!" How is a newbie supposed to know a "<shopname>-510" or a "Joy 510" is probably not the original? After all, even I own a "Joy 510". It wasn't a typo after all … (And I had been vaping for all of a week back then.)

Mik,

Since you brought up product safety and the "possibility" that a non-Janty product might "explode in your face"... may I ask what safety features you have incorporated into the eGo for our protection?

Unlike "traditional" PV batteries which have a plastic LED ash-cap that can "blow off" in case of a battery vent issue, the eGo battery is in a sealed can (except for the button hole). So does the eGo use a "protected" cell? Or, is there specific circuitry in the eGo that will non-destructively and reliably protect the user in the case of an over-current situation (like a shorted atomizer)?

Im checking this with the factory now to be able to provide you with some more info.

May be mine are just old now :) there are from first batch (with hole in center)
Could very well be mine don't have a hole. Regardless JoyE products vape at 3.1V under fire. So what is above could be considered insignificant, except in the stretch. Has your battery life decreased any?
