I've worked in manufacturing and know that there is no such thing as 100% total quality and that no matter how stringent the QA is, there will Always be a statistical percentage of defects.

What made this thread ironic to me is that I decided 2 weeks ago to get an eGo with Automatic batteries. For 10 days I scowered the web looking for either the batteries and charger or a starter kit. A few people told me that they would be getting some in 5 to 6 weeks but I wanted it now. I was about to give up when I saw that Janty Canada said that they were supposed to have some Automatic starter kits in this week.

I e-Mailed Sean and he confirmed this. The next day I was about to place a pre-order when Sean e-Mailed me back to say that the Automatic kits were in. Too Cool. I ordered one and felt glad that the long search was over. Now, 24 hours later I read this thread.

I’m sure that if there is a 1 in 10,000 chance of getting a bad battery, that I will be the person who does. It’s just the way my luck is going lately. But I also feel, that if I do have a problem that Janty / Janty Canada / Sean will take care of it. I’ve read very good things about Janty support and it was a deciding factor in my purchase decision.

Okay first of all. No more coffee for you. That bold is seriously hurting my eyes :)

Secondly, if you bought something from Janty Canada I hope you realise that this is a Jantyworld forum, supporting only France, Holland and USA - for any troubles you might have you have to mail and speak to the canadian shop!

You are ofcourse welcome to hang around and shoot the breeze with us though :p

As for your automatic i will say this:

If it dies, have them replace it with a manual battery. The automatic batteries are very very fragile - and they are best used with a filter - not with dripping. Even when used with a filter be careful that it does not get too moist.

The automatic system is not 100% closed, so liquid can - and will - get inside if you are not careful. As you will notice, alot of vendors have decided not to carry this product anymore, and i personally expect to see them fade away slowly.

They are not bad products, do not get me wrong; and with the Janty warranty you cant go wrong anyways. However, it seems that most newcomers to the e-cigarette world prefer the automatic by thought, because to them it resembles the "normal" cigarette.

In reality most of us, if not all, switch to manual batteries relatively quickly. While it might look like something that is hard to get used to, then pressing a button to take a drag becomes second nature within an hour - and it gives you ultimate control in how long your vapes should be, how hot they should get and so on.

I do hope you will enjoy your automatic though; and i do hope you will consider switching it to a manual once it dies - you will not regret it!

As for the other user who mentioned that the eGo got so hot:

I am 99% sure it is your atomizer. When you use an atomizer for a period of time, or if that atomizer is faulty it can burn out the resistance, which effectively means it gets extremely hot. While this might be perceived as a "better" vape, then it is not only dangerous to you, but also to your battery and if you feel a sudden, drastic change in how how your atomizer gets, you should get it exchanged through your warranty - or throw it out and move on.

When the atomizers (and this does not happen often) lose so much resistance that they get as hot as you describe this puts an excessive load on the battery, which will make it die - either violently, or slowly.

I think in general a rule of thumb is: "If it does not work like it used to, replace it". This is a good rule to stick by for anything battery related - just to be on the safe side.

Hope that helps a bit - and have a nice weekend all!

I've experienced this whole battey near the button getting hot thing too...
I've found that yeah it generally is an issue with the atty....it either being flooded or needing a cleaning...or just chain vaping too much....or dirty atty/battery contact points..
Think about it when we were using regular 510s alot of us held a finger on the atty to monitor it...now that it's concealed and we cant do that...the heat transfers to the connector and the atty shroud and on to the switch end of the battery...
though I can see how excessive heat at that end of the battery could result in battery damage...when I've had it happen I usually just blow out and clean the atty, or blow it out and a quick dry burn and cleaning and it's back to business as usual.

In my case, Mik, I think you're right and it's the attys not the battery. It happens when I use one of the two Janty, Joye attys that I have and after 4 or 5 hits the battery band and cone is too hot to touch.

Would this be a warranty issue for the attys since they are the ones warrantied for 6 months? I don't remember them doing it when I first got them, although one did burn a liquid when it was new and left a terrible taste that I was never able to get out completely.

It makes sense now why the batteries don't get hot all the time. It's only when I use the 2 Janty attys, so maybe they are running too hot?

I cleaned mine as suggested by Janty to see if built up liquid could be the problem, but unfortunately they perform the same. I don't take long hard draws or chain vape like I did when I first started vaping, but I do take 4 or 5 short puffs before setting it down.

I clean mine mostly as perscribed...with a bit of highping's atty resurection method thrown in...
basically I blow it out, and then put it on an actual 3.7V battery...and dry burn it while gently blowing into the atty....generally you'll see one end of the coil glow (but not the other)...I'll pulse that on and off until the entire coil starts to glow at once...and the time it takes for it to get red when the button is pressed is lessened..then stop blowing into the atty, and do it a few more times...I set it aside to cool...and then I rinse it (by a totally bizare method (I have a piece of tubing that fits tight over the atty threads and inject a syringe full ov PG/water through it)) blow it out so it's not flooded and throw it on the battery to see if I get uniform glow quickly across the coil...if so..2-3 drips to the atty and a full cart goes on...and it's vaping like new and stays fairly cool if not flooded...my tobacco and dark colored liquid atties get this once a week or every other...

If you are using joye atomizers, then you need to contact Joyetech and not Janty to see if they are under warranty.

I think the attys are definately running too hot - and this could be caused by alot of things, malfunctions, poor build, or it could be that you have smoked them too dry over a period of time, thereby damaging them!

I only have 2, 510 attys that I use and they are both Janty that I bought on April 11th. After having so many problems with the hot Joyes I decided to use the Janty Joye and pay the additional for the 6 month warranty. These Janty attys have been wonderful and they don't taste burnt or like they are too hot, but the battery and cone does heat up quickly.

Sometimes I use a 901 with an adapter and the batteries never get hot around the band with those.

Since they are still working well and taste good I don't know if them getting hot is a warranty complaint. I LOVE Janty and it could be me so I'm not sure what to do. Not using them isn't really an option unfortunately.

I've been away from the forum for a while, and now I have come back only to find that I need to buy an eGo. Given all the rave reviews, I'm surprised there isn't already a thread with everyone asking when they will be in stock again! Or am I just missing it?

I've already registered for stock notfication, but when are they expected to be available again? Sorry if everyone except me knows this already, but I don't see any any recent threads that say.

My JSv3 fell off my desk and hit the hardwood floor and the top popped off, breaking the neg wire connection. I re-soldered the wire and put the top back on, but now the battery won't go in. It'll go through the battery hole, or go into the unit without the end cap, but the battery hole and the battery slot no longer line up. Sigh. Just out of warranty, and I really liked the thing.

Oh well. I figure I'll cannibalize the USB charger and board and stick it in another mod.

Holy CRAP! These things are awesome. I don't care if they don't make it past 6 months - I can't even see the SCREEN through the vape!

How long do they last (estimated)? I just want to know when to restock!

(also they gulp liquid like a Hummer - where's the tessla carts? It's the only missing piece from eGo perfection now!)
