Softening/shortening, no... But I did have a coil short out on me about a week ago and it dropped the spring.
if your springs are starting to drop, something isn't right.

Damn those dual coils look cool. I've been vaping away on my single coil and just for fun, I did this:

Yep! Straightened out a paper clip leaving only one of the U bends in it then spin spin spin til it went... ***PRONG*** and broke off. I didn't think it actually worked at first because it was so tightly twisted it looked like a single strand til I got in the light with my glasses...

So, the coil on my Cyclone has been action up. I was using ekowool on it, trying to get it to work good. Compared to the RM2, it was just not cutting it. I had the same liquid in two Reos, one with the Cyclone and one with the RM2. The RM2 was notably better. The Cyclone was good but was just not on the same par.
So I was about to order another RM2 but I thought would try a micro coil with cotton on it. I read somewhere that Cyclone worked better with silica, but what the heck. I build me a coil out of 28g, came out to 1.2 ohms. Holy cow, that baby is rocking now! It has a long "tail" on it so it goes longer between squonking. No need to replace this baby!

Yeah, UKPaul. This battery concern (spring thing) is . . . . a concern.
You know, it just crossed my mind; this, with the previous thing you had. You know what might explain both? . . . . . . an overcharged battery . . . . . that's what.

something's going on there. Not liking. Obviously, your battery is getting warmer than it should.
Two things.
One, where did you buy the battery? I just read where all AWs sold in China and on Alibaba are fakes.
Two, I was metering a .45/.5Ω micro immediately after firing it (still too hot to touch) and it meterred at .3Ω. . . . . . Tried it twice.

All 5 of my AW IMR 18650's came new from C9V so are squeaky clean. 2 are @ 1600 mahs and 3 @ 2000 mahs.
I am wondering if this time it happened when trying the 25g nichrome and test firing it to get it glowing ??

Gotta try a dual coil tomorrow... Now that I opened up my "air hole"(don't get cute with that).

My 26 gauge came in while I was out today....brb gonna have to play with it now.
26 is definitely tougher to twist.

Nice coil, what ID is that, the ohms seem a tad high for an 8 wrap.
