Ok, I got a 5/4 wrap. This is kicking my azz. Nic buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.!!!. It heats up kinda slowly and then all hell breaks loose. Takes a long time for it to cool down. This is a very interesting, nuanced vape. Flavor is great and tastes very different. Hard to believe it is so smooth. You're right, these strands will last a long time. Most enjoyable! Looking forward to the N.E.M.P./Mundy combo. Thanks a bunch hairy primate dude!

I've been vaping my fruit-nemp blends the past several days. I just put in a new mundy's coil and drew up another 6ml "sample" of the bomber. Left it at full 32 strength so I wouldn't waste any of my 0-nic cutter. My head is swimming. took me a few toots for my tastebuds to adjust to how subtle it is compared to it's fruit-infused counterparts.
In other news, I would have to agree that there was a significant performance increase in swapping out the 2-week old coil. I have another one that is also at the 2-week mark that I am leaving in just to see how far I can push it before replacement is absolutely necessary.

My standard go to 6 wrap 28 gauge kanthol on .055" form finally crumbled on this last dry burn, so I decided to experiment a little.
I wanted to see how small of a diameter I could go. The smallest thing I had to wrap around was a .5mm drill bit. I went for 10 turns of 28 gauge. The drill bit is only .18mm bigger than the diameter of the wire itself. It was a pain in the .... to wrap. I didn't even attempt to wick it. I just stuck some cotton under it. It kicks out the vapor. It is a little too much for me, too hot and too thick. It was just for fun. I will probably go back to my standard go to coil in a few. I'm pretty nic buzzed right now. Here are some pics. I didn't clean the deck before installing this one and I have been vaping some motor oil like dark vg juice so forgive the mess.

At the moment, I'm proudly using a beautiful black/silver hammer tone grand, car fused with a RM2/Mundy Magik coil (thx monkey), Copper Creek VooDoo juice and an AW 1600 to get my freak on.
I was just relating to a straight 28ga .8Ω coil that heats up a little faster, IMObservation.
Yeah, heat up does take a tiny bit longer... But considering that it is technically a tri-coil, heat time is rather fast compared to dual 26 at equal resist.

To keep the resitance low I went with 26ga kanthal and took out one coil. It also made more sense to me to have the microcoil up top and the nanocoil on the bottom. 3+ wraps on a 1/16 bit and 4-5 wraps on a paperclip. came out to 1.4 ohms which I'm very happy with

Trickiest build I've done but I think it turned out well!
I wish I had two RM2s so I could better compare, but I think the TH is definitely better and the squonking feels more natural than with a cotton bed.

When dry burning and cleaning microcoils (particularly R41) I have noticed gunk buildup on the wire where it's hard to get at to clean. Thought I was having a bad taste bud day but upon magnified inspection of my coil, I found substantial buildup inside the bore. After a very rigorous cleaning, all was good again. To facilitate cleaning, particularly in the bore, I ordered some miniature tube cleaning wire brushes. Anybody have any better ideas, techniques?
you did dry burn?
if your coil is anything under 1 ohms, a good dry burn usually does the trick; you could soak it - or dab it with alcohol or vodka prior (with brush).
if it pops then its just weak and ready for a new one anyway imo i dry burn all the time. (.5 to .6 ohms 26g to 30g k or nichrome)
but i have done some dry burns on my fc2000 wicked hot wraps and nothing takes it off though . nothing and i hate hot wrapping poruous ceramic. compared to micro/cotton.
I dry burn most of the gunk to ash. Some cooked on charcoal remains on the wire. Not much of a problem with Nichrome but R41 builds up some. It will definitely pop the coil if you try to incinerate all of it.
I run .8 to 1.0 ohm most of the time and my juice is NETs so it's gunky. Guess I'll just have to be more diligent about cleaning after dry burning.
The little brushes I ordered will fit the bore of 1/16 or 5/64 inch coils. Should help.

my new filtering method w/ my NEMP has lowered the gunk drastically without changing the flavor. Win!

I've got 28ga nichrome 80 and 27 ga kanthal a-1. According to the charts I've seen, they have essentially the same resistance (4.09 ohms per foot vs 4.34). What's the difference then between a micro made with the same # of wraps? I know some say they can taste the lack of iron in the nichrome, but I can't really. I know the kanthal will be thicker, have more mass, and therefore will hold heat longer. Will it also heat slower? So would nichrome be preferred in this situation?

i make mega coils and use a pipe cleaner on the R41 once a week. i run an 18700 battery in a silver bullet and just hold the button till all the crap has burned off or will flake away. It's a shame, but that's the only action my old SB sees now!

Yes. It does heat slower. I prefer the Nichrome. I even prefer the Nichrome to lower resistance Kanthal. (Say, borrowing your example, I would probably pick 28 N. over 26 Kan. I have done so w/ 26N and 24K)

Nice - just watched Rip's Tricro vid as well and got inspired, so I wrapped one... but I haven't installed it yet because I like the twisted-wire coil I have installed in my RDA too much to part with it yet. And I lack spare RDA's. Must rectify this!
