Here is my last build with 28ga and 3/64" id, with a cotton ball, it didn't taste good and didn't wick as well as the yarn cotton for some reason.

Actually getting the wick through wasn't hard I just pulled appart the yarn, took out one rolled strand out of the 4, rolled the end in my fingers and fed it in, then grabbed it with tweezers and pulled it through. Its not a tight fit, if I had used 2 strands it wold have been a real tight squeeze. I've tried it before and the flavor wasn't nearly as good.

The cotton density looks a little bit too thin to me. My cotton wicks, which work well, are about twice as dense and rolled between my fingers to get it narrow enough to fit through the coil. Too little cotton = harsh vapor with little flavor. Too much cotton = tastes like cotton.

Ok, question from a (very near) future REO user: how long does it take for you to get used to the squonk-vape-squonk action? I keep worrying im gonna burn the cotton by forgetting to squonk.

With an RM2 on top there's no learning curve. You can't really over squonk since any extra goes back into the bottle. And after getting a hit of dry cotton wick you'll learn quick not to forget.

Done it twice in my short time with my precious but they weren't bad just a little scorching.
I put a couple of little tiffs of cotton behind the battery spring in case I do it good while I am out and about.

Yup, pure cotton taste in that old coil. Cotton yarn loosely drawn though the coil has been the best for me so far.

I find the Imortalizer a poor candidate for this type of wick unless you want to drip every two drags, there is no well so all the reserve juice needs to be held in the wick. I have done mine up with folded 2.5 mm silica(standard wrap) and it works quite well this way. I'm also not using it anymore till I get something else figured out for it.

A little off the discussion right now but check this out. Found this cotton in a vitamin bottle. It's from a melatonin bottle so it has no smell to it. I burn tested and it is cotton, it has long straight strands almost like hair. Its more uniform than cotton balls maybe like rolled cotton, not sure havent got any yet. What do you guy think I'm going to try on my next rebuild. It looks really easy to work with.

Edit to add - spring valley melatonin new bottle from walmart. (If I could stop vaping at night I may not need it,lol)

I get almost all my cotton from the tops of the Walmart fiber pills I take. I figure that it must be healthier...getting a little extra fiber in my vape ;)

I've squeezed the bottle instead of pressing the button a couple times, but I have yet to go dry or taste anything but juice. Something tells me, you'll be o.k. (as long as you sleep a little every 24-36 hours)

If you're line me, you'll over-squonk. Thankfully that's not really a problem as the excess juice drains right back to the bottle :)

Definitely correct I've been trying to get it going, I've been dripping a in it like it has a well let it build up in the drip protector sleeve then draw it all back to the coil through the little air holes beneath the coil, tons of gurgling is necessary. Cotton needs a well or a squonk. The imortalizer is just temporary until my reo grand gets back from the reo spa.

60.

9-wrap comes out around high .6 to low .7 based on coil style and leg length.

Sent from the zoo using Tapatypo 2

perfect got some 26g and 28g on the way the .6 .7 kenthal is to hot for me so im hoping for a bit of a cooler vape without sacrificing to much vapor

What if you use the "bed of cotton" config?

I'm just glad I bought the clone and not the $90 one.

I do think that I'll be shelling out that kind of dough for one of those Fatty v3's though.

Couldn't you make one tail longer and let it ride up and around the inner sleeve? Might be worth a try.

I usually use cheese cloth and I also have some make up pads from when I tried those. If my Immortalizer clone ever gets here, I plan on cutting some forms from the pads that will fit over the top of the terminals and circle the inside of the inner chamber, along with cheese cloth for the wicks. Sort of a homemade mini spheroid. Might work, but if not, I might even try to pick up some of the serra wool (or whatever it's called) and try that.

I've done that it works somewhat well but a couple pages back has been the best setup for me. The bed of cotton doesn't work so well because the air hold is directly underneath the coil so it restricts the airflow, gurgling the juice through the airhole and flooding the coil area works better for me.
