MVP Owners Group-into the next generation…

I wouldn't count on it too much if you end having to use it! At the time I was first going to order 18650 batteries for the then new Vamo V2 someone had pointed me at I grabbed what the vendor had for chargers back two years ago this month. Due to getting into the MVP llater in the year plus the new eGo VV/VW batteries out the V2 was passed along to someone who was broke and in need of replacing his own broken mod. He wore the V2 out fast as well!

Well that left me running with sealed battery type mods once I grabbed the smok Groove II unil that went belly up and the need for the charger returned! By then of course the old charger had been useless for some time when last used to charge up some 18350s for the first epipe I tried out. When the VTR arrived I found that the button top Efest batteries were then made totally useless and found some flattop batteries at the same time I knew I needed a new charger and went for the D4 at the same time.

Later on and once again lately with the new mods bought lately I went out looking around for high drain batteries Innokin was recommending for the VTR and rain into the Orbitronic site where anything Panasonic lives! I ended up there off of Factory Junction while running a web search for that type of 18650.

I originally had a Trustfire 2-bay that I got on Day 1. Ended up needing another slot or two. I got a Nitecore 4-bay, but that Trustfire is in ready-reserve.

I still have the two chargers I bought when I first started attempting to quit, but with all the mods I have now my battery charging requirements are on the uprise. lol.

Thanks for the data. I have always charged my MVP's with my 1A phone charger. I used a 500ma a few times and noted that the 1A was faster as your data would suggest. When I charge my VV3 on the 1A they get just a little warm. Did you measure the output from the MVP USB out of curiosity? It seems to dump pretty fast and hard.

I was hoping to see a full 1A output from the USB Output on the MVP20W... but sadly, no... the most I could get out was about 575mA :(

What would begin to make you feel there was anywhere near a 1 amp output on this device? Even in Ecig mode it will not allow you to fire a resistance below 1.1 ohms. Maybe when the 3.0 comes out and allows you to fire down to (guessing while trying to remember here), I believe its .3 or 4, maybe it will. But I would never expect this power pack to drop voltage faster than the half amp you mentioned.

Manufacturer specification of USB output of 5V at 1A, similar to how the device uses greater than 500mA when charging.

Even in Ecig mode it will not allow you to fire a resistance below 1.1 ohms.
I'm not sure how your statement relates to the USB output, but I'll play along. With a 1.2 ohm coil... in wattage mode... set to 20W... it's pushing 4.64V at 4.31A. So, in Ecig mode, it pushes greater than an amp.

But I would never expect this power pack to drop voltage faster than the half amp you mentioned.
What does that mean... 'drop voltage faster than the half amp'?

That stashed charging/out put cable looks brilliant.
I wonder what the little hole on the top near the 510 is for? Vent?

that's what I said before, it doesn't look like the
fire button has a light ring around it
so i wonder if that's the "light show" LED on top...

(maybe a thermal fire sensor)

:)

When the supply is greater then the load the load only takes what it needs. With most batteries where there's a circuit board placed in between battery and charging source the current is limited by the card to prevent the battery from drawing too heavily on the supply current.

A device where the draw is set for a 650ma max is only going to take 650mA when available even if the supply is 15A. The 1A charging option means the supply is 1A for charging things that will not try to draw more then the 1A. The 425ma surplus is where you want things to be left on the plus side.

Night Hawk,

I could only get the MVP20W to output 575mA MAX, despite asking it for MORE THAN 575mA. To put this into your language, I connected a device set to draw 1.5A and it only pulled 575mA.

Then you have to realize that the MVP has a limiter in there to prevent anything over that amount from being drawn. I suspect that is intentional to allow vaping while charging something else? That also prevents the battery from being pulled down too fast while out somewhere where you can't charge it up again but need to fast charge your cell phone or something. And those will pull the life out of a battery since they'll grab an amp or more.

Since I don't see a lot of value in speculating, I just opened up the MVP20W.

Battery Charger - TP4056 (1A Charger)
Processor - PIC16F723A (8-bit uController)

I'm still going through everything and writing up a schematic for myself (as best I can without an xray)... I'll post pictures of the boards and ID a few more things later if anyone is interested.

You go Boy!

Thanks for doing a tear down and reporting it all. Don't allow yourself to get distracted and please keep reporting what you find. As far as I know you are the first one on the webs to do report a diagnostic and we are all interested in what is in there. Don't be afraid to "dumb it down" for us less techy types.

Just don't break anything when pulling it apart! As for charging things on the go I took another option of going with a 12,000mah portable charger instead that does supply 1A per each of the two usb ports on the 2A unit. It's intended for charging IPhones but had no problem charging up the MVP2.0 and both the iTaste VV v3.0s and some eGo-V batteries as well as another mod with an 18650 inside. Meanwhile someone just pointed out a much needed updated calculator that covers both regulated mods as well as mech mods since the bulk of safe vaping charts have been geared mainly at mechs! Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

The USB spec is 500ma of output power per port. Always has been..

Nope ;) The current output has changed with each revision of USB. USB3 can go up to 1.5A... you can find all the details online if you would like... it's also a bit besides the point though as 'USB Chargers' (as an entity) operate outside of normal USB spec and USB devices have various ways to try and determine if they are connected to a 'USB Charger' versus a 'USB Host'.

EDIT: Ok... 'each revision' isn't the right way to say that since there are major and minor revisions... but I think you get the point. :)

:matrix:

now that I got to a computer to see the mvp3 pics better “I SEE IT !”

nobody said it yet, but if you remember in Pbusardo’s review he kept
sayin’ , “if it only had some sort of attached cord” – well there it is…
looks like an ON BOARD USB cord neatly stuck into the bottom of the
fancy new MVP V3…

also notice no "switch" (at least showing)
