From what I gather, the mesh needs to be oxidized on one side. The outer side. then Rolled on itself. I am thinking the mesh from a reg attie may be worth a try. Maybe the only part of the mesh to be oxidized would be the part in the cup that the coil wrapped around. mmmmmmmmm

Edit, upon further thought. using the E2 cup will create a problem for the reurn coil wire.

Bad - it's rolled in a spiral. Raidy gives sizes on his modding page.

End view...

He gives you a process by which to oxidize it...he has you boiling it then taking a bic lighter to the top part that is wrapped by the coil...then seasoning it wil a drop of juice, then taking lighter to it again...then he says first 10-30 drags should no be inhaled to break it in...I imagine this lessens crud build up br?

Anyway I asked in his thread, see what response it:

"are there any issues with the wire mesh wicking when it gets filled with crud? How is it replaced or cleaned? "

Forum fatigue…

Left Friday morning for Nashville to meet my grandchild and had to read 537 posts to get caught up this morning… sheesh…

Brand New R4 Shorties.jpg

Quick1 may have to wait a little longer… Just got these in Thursday’s mail… broke 2 cups removing the filler rings… so I cut ‘em off for syringe-mods & experiments. Didn’t like what I saw, so I cut off 2 more. Silicone in the bases, trapped wicks, & the always lovely pre-stained wicks in the single unit that didn’t have silicone in it…

Even so, I’m still holding out hope for these things… when they work, they work. I let a barmaid try vaping for the first time in Nashville and it was so simple to tell her to “…push the button & hold it, put it to your lips, take a drag, inhale, exhale, just like a cigarette”. No necessity to tell her to preheat, or take a 5 second sipping-draw, or apologize for a flooded atty, or dry atty or anything else…

BR predicted that bottle-mods were just a fad… and now there’s a rush to the next holy grail of metal mesh... & BR is opting out… Now he’s a prophet to boot…

I'm going to let y'all leave me behind on your new project. The one I am smoking right now meets my needs, or more than my needs if I want it to.

Today I was able to vape my tube empty without struggling with dry spots. That's never happened before. It was an R4 stem I got from China yesterday. Both sides of the wick extended to the bottom- that was a first also.

This is working perfectly for me, but there's something about the ss mesh that I'd like to investigate. What was your experience with the ss wool filler, BR?

There is something you guys need to keep in mind. I think the wire mesh has to be replaced when it fills with crud.
YES BR, the problem with crud is still going to happen with wire and that's the problem we're all working on, wicking is almost solved. Still working on cleaning BUT like you I'm there with a toss when it gets bad and i can't see the wire being easer to clean than the wick in the E2,
I'm thinking the crud build-up is caused by too high a voltage too.

Steel wool works very well if it is compressed exactly right. However, it packs down too easy when handling, filling, etc. That's why I began looking into stainless steel mesh.

I believe the crud will always be there. More in some cases or less in others. Think of the outer side of a cast iron skillet. It gets a crud buildup too. Now think of all the reasons why it gets there.

...you should be careful to always say "stainless steel" wool? Otherwise there will be much lost to great distraction and confusion.

theres a ....... race going on and we are not part of it, the race is to build the GENESIS dammit it, that thing looks insane, this is like the old time when america was trying to beat russia to space.
Well, there's no race, he's the winner. Now we just need to make one ourselves. He's given some good info in the thread but will complete 'part 2' when he gets back from vacation.

ok so i meant the coil is wrapped around what?? i dont get what its wrapped around. and yes we neeed this thing, will he be willing to gives us a diagram, does he care if we build it for self use, i need this , can the e2 be used to make something similar, this guy is a god.
I think he's harnessed alien technology; charging rocks, headset that activates the atty when you tilt your head, etc. This guy rolls deep!

It's been a couple or three days since I read his thread, but didn't he say somewhere that he's applied for a patent? Or maybe I dreamed that...
His 'genisis' atty is already but he has another that isn't yet. No details on that until. I can only imagine what that one is!

Concerning the E2 'genisis' conversion, 'asdaq' posted this on 'raidy's post today. What's interesting, besides his thoughts on the E2 is the 'pill fob' possibly replacing a milled part. This guy has made cartos from them. Something else to look at.

yo yo yo...everyone just loves to drip...really??? I use my atty's only to sample a new juice...I took two juices I decided to keep and filled two good E2's with them and wow, they were ten times better in these cartos (flavor, vapor, everything)...and I don't have to wait for the taste to wane or burn and re-drip

I'm pretty sure using steel mesh wicks/reservoirs improves the quality of the vape. I think that's why I get more satisfaction vaping on a classic atty than on the E2's. The atty gives a full (ahem) deep-throat vape whilst I find the E2 a lot softer (even if it makes more vapour). I dunno why this might be - maybe it's the same reason why KitKats wrapped in tin foil taste better than ones wrapped in plastic. Perhaps there's some sort of reaction between the juice and the metal.

Anyway, I hope some form of Genesis E2 mod works, cuz I'm looking forward to seeing if I'm right.

So I just started vaping off of my new 510 CE2 R4 and I am blown away and a bit overwhelmed. I'm using my standard TV waffles, 24mg, 35VG on my 3.7 device and it is like I'm tasting it for the first time. It is comparable to vaping on a fresh atty but better.

Anyway, I do have one question. What is the capacity of the standard 510? I know the XL's are around 1.8ml but I couldn't find numbers (yeah, I'm a dope) for the standards. I filled the syringe with 1ml and it started coming back out at around .8ml. Is that it?

I have direct dripped with most atty types. Fortunately, my favorite juice tastes the same or better on a well performing E2. I still use my old attys and old cartomizers for A-B comparisons during some of my tests.
