I used 28g 316l 8 wraps with 2.4 jig. Came out to .8 something.
single deck?

I noted earlier, SS is a pain in single deck if you don't have enough in there... it heats up instantly... bad experience for sure. I had issues too with it.

Try going with 26 if you have some, and/or make as many wraps as you can fit on your deck, never mind the OHM reading.

Actually, as long as you have enough wire and a gauge that's adequate, SS can work either way... I've tested pressed a few times and it worked just fine in TC, but prefer spaced in general, it ensures no hot spots better and I find better with the wicking. Some of my coils are barely spaced, barely 0.5mm between wraps. No problem.
baby steps for beginners. I prefer spaced because of flavor and wicking, though my spacing i 1-1.5mm between wraps on 6 wrap 4mm 26awg coils

Using 26g will defeat the purpose I was testing for though.

Ok, thank you. Should it be contact or spaced?

I've used both and both work. However, to avoid any further variable just make it slightly spaced. It doesn't have to be a loose coil that could be a spring. It's a personal preference but I never liked the way those coils vaped.

ok.. I use both myself, but more and more, I prefer 26... what tank/deck are you using?

And as the others said, go with spaced.. doesn't need much, and test it out at low wattage... 30W max I'd recommend, then increase as required.

But if it's a single, do try and put in as many wraps as will fit, SS has a very fast and "dry" ramp up, so your wicking has to be as good as possible.

I almost took a picture because I was sure it was black or something, but didn't see it as looking unusual at all so just threw it out. :( I really have no idea what I did wrong.
I made a short video

Btw, I know you're using a different mod/board, but I popped a SS coil like you did because the wrong wire type was selected as a default (DNA board defaulted to Ni). I don't know how the Pico knows or if you set it, but be sure it has the wire you're using selected.

Yup, I made sure I was in SS mode. Thank you. :)

Right now I'm using my Toptank mini RBA plus.
ok.. it looks like a decent sided one.

I managed to get a single SS coil working on my OBS Ace RBA (and that's one heck of a tiny little RBA) but it's been a while, I'd have to pop it open to see what I did (wraps) but it's most probably 28gauge that I used, so I'm sure you'll get it!

Just remember.. lots of wraps, as many as you can fit.. go with 3mm if you can.

Just start with low wattage, low temp, increase the temp bit at a time,... and if you find it's too slow to warm up, increase wattage a bit, you just need to find the right "spot".

And the Pico is just fine, my daughter's never been an issue, and I have several Eleaf mods and they have all been flawless on TC.

@kiba Your inbox is full, but wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to make that video. I'm sure it will help many others as well. That was nice of you to do. :)
No worries, guess I need to delete some [emoji2] anyways hope it helps.

I wish to thank you all for convincing me to just stick with the Kanthal wire that I KNOW what I'm doing. ;)
At one point in time, wrapping Kanthal coils was new to you as well. You learned. Same principle applies to these guys. I am not much help with SS but I learned how to do NI and TI. The learning curve is doable, just have to stick with it.

If you know already how to wrap a coil and how to wick it correctly, you're already half way there..
