I was wondering, since so many have been using cotton on their GG atomizers, do you all do the little top piece of wick/ or topper as on the traditional builds? I was wondering if it was necessary with cotton builds. I will upload a pict using my phone so you can see what they look like.

I basically pre wind my coil on a thick syringe and then thread the cotton in, then I have to work in the second wick, not hard to do, but takes a bit of wiggling it in.

No second wick is needed Ana.
Only on Ithaka v2 I use two cottons wicks but that's to stop overflow only.

Here this how I do it every time on ceramic attys Ody Penny Ithaka V1 I use the same built on them.
Though now I move to ready made 32 kantal, much comfy with cotton for me.

1
Coil wrap

2

take coil like so

3
Insert cotton this picture is old today I use less cotton

4

Connect it to atty as regular coil

5

Cut wick above channel like so

Then I wet the cotton let moist well and put MP.
I vape with MP only,if all is ok (it always ok) I put tank
And fill it.

As aal said many times cotton hold much more liquid no need for thick or more wick.
Just make it like so and that's it.
Forget a bout wicks and builds,I do the same pay attention to juices, and othere stuff.
All runing perfact for me,don't miss any thing.

Cool, I was so worried about getting too much cotton. You are using twice as much as I do, so thats cool. I just notice , you do not use R and NR wire?

The pictures were only as principle idea to show hoe I generally aproch this.

Today I use much less cotton, half the dia.

And they wire are R NR R just ready made,so they look like one.
I buy them in hundreds from Vasilis and that's it.

Those in the picture are ribbon, but now I just use plain ready made 32 R NR R 1.7 ohms.
They taste better and not too warm,so they don't diminish the falvor nuance.
The 32 give better TH and FL.

This is the actual amount of cotton I use today on all my GG atty's
Just didn't had picture of one on ceramic atty.
But that what I use of all:

Thank you for taking the time to "teach me" I see now that I dont have to do the little extra piece. I will just make the coil a little smaller in diameter. So just to make sure, you dont run the cotton down the sides of the channels? I run them down and cut them off at the end , level to the little oring. If there is no real need to waste as much cotton, thats great.

I was wondering , since Im not using Ekowool which I could dry burn and reuse over and over 10 times? How do you think cotton such as the Ken Gen Do s cost compares to the cost of good Ekowool ?

Do you replace the whole thing when dirty or do you slip the cotton out , dry burn your coil and slip new cotton in?

1)no cotton in the channel is needed, mine goes 1mm only, because I cut the wick just right outside the atty chamber.

2)I don't regarding prices, becouse all my cotton is home made.
We grow a lot of cotton here,I just buy some organic made with no chemical,as far as the indication
On the package say.
It taste great and cost nothing here.
I bought in 2.5 euros a package that will last me two or more years.

3)I stop dry burn few month ego after the post here made by Imeo.

4) I use setup for a week or two depaned on juice 4/5 thanks then built it in few minuets brand new.
Cotton don't cost nothing for me,kantal 28 is no big deal.
Ready made 2 or 3 per week or two for my wife and for my set up is no big deal.

That's me.

Hi Itshak
what's the ESG reference/URL for such 32 ready made wires?
The ones I purchased so far were too short and too thin, warming very quickly, and burning the cotton quickly as well ...

Here monkk

Wires-Wick

But they are all out of stock now I see.
E mail Vasilis and ask him when he will have more,
Or push the "notify me" button.

Hey Jeremy I use your twists for thick wires all the time now. I even sold my wire welder :D. I tried vcore on Ithaka it was a success. I have to try it on Ody as well.

Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

I actually use 26g tinned/chromed copper for my no res, repurposed from shielded cat5 ground lead. I know its taboo but haven't noticed any problems as a coil is never in for more than 2-3 weeks. I have yet to find 26g no res Nichrome, should be able to find silver through and it would work just the same and be soft enough for a solid crimp. I may have to just go to jewlersy store for 26 or 24g silver. (32g silver is a joke it breaks so easily)

These are pics of 26g no res to 32 g kanthal. The particular photo shows a parallel 32 but I rarely do that usually just straight 32 to 26g. I twist it with needle nose while holding the split tight in my fingers. Twist it in a way the the no res is wrapping around the kanthal. Usually no res on bottom and twist it upward to get it to wrap around the 32g. Fold the no res over trim the twist as short as possible with clippers. Then crimp the fold over. Just don't crimp too tight with 32 or you'll partially cut it. I've broke 32 before the twist crimp broke loose; when done right.

Hi Jeremy, thanx for your post. I like how you join your thicker wick. I liked the performance I was getting with thicker wire, more coils, more vapor. BUT, I was having a heck of a time getting good joins. If I wrapped like I do now, the r wire was slipping off. If I tried a traditional twist it was too long and messy etc.

I have compromised on 30 gauge nr wire but I get 4 wraps including the joined part. I will get some 28 gauge and see if I can try your "twisting trick"

I have contemplated starting or asking people how "they do the twist" but for a while everyone just said get a "zapper" its just too costly for me, money I rather spend on needed supplies or another Odysseus:) I like joining wires, therapeutic for me in many ways, mentally, visually and especially with my bad hands, it keeps me "excersizing" and keeping dexterous. ANyway, Ive tried the slip knots, but my stupid hands just mess it up.

Everybody, How do YOU do the "twist"

One sort of "con" ive found switching to cotton is that Im getting minor liquid "spitting" I have only occasionally got that in the past when I was learning the rebuilding thing. I cant figure out if its from over saturation, coils being too loose or tight?

Has anyone ever found the reason for the spitting? Im sure its something overcome.

I'm not sure if it's the reason or the only one Ana,but it may be to loos a coil compare to wick.
try stuff just a bit more cotton and make sure u don't over fluid.
See what happen.
How much turn you open juice control???
Try one only then one and a half?
See what diffrence it make.

I'm sure with some more trials you will find your way around.
