The 800mah charge rate however is a deal breaker for me. So you're right, the Radius is not in my future.

So, what charger do you plan to use, and what charge rate are you looking for? I wouldn't charge an 18650 over 1A anyway, and that's only 200mA more than the Radius.

Then being a PC/Windows user is elitist? I have both (and Linux) and prefer the command line...so I guess that makes me old school. At least I'm not having to flip switches or use punch cards....

I use all 3 at home and work as well. Solved a problem at work last night that only presented itself in a Linux CLI. Old school here too.

An early job I had at NASA had me programming in Fortran and COBOL, and they still had some systems using punch cards. I'm not THAT old - NASA is just a bit behind the times.

If the procedure is simple enough, it may be that we are able to conduct it on a public library computer?!?

I was going to suggest a library, Internet cafe, etc., but you beat me to it. Great suggestion!

Gee, if the updater thingy was on a webpage, then anyone could do it regardless of OS, right?

Probably not without a driver, which is OS-specific, but that's out of my area of expertise. Now if ProVape made the Radius a storage-class device, and it booted from an image file, and there was enough RAM to store both the working image and upgrade image, it would be possible on any computer, but that adds a level of complexity and risk.

Exactly :) or @ an Internet Café for gosh sakes!

Or you could Fly to Vegas, bond with my Mac's and Windows boxes and I will upgrade your R! /lol /joke

I have no inside knowledge so this is just a guess but the Mothership could deploy the software as an .exe which DOES NOT require an install into the Windows os. You run the .exe from either your thumb drive or copy it over to the HD and then run it. Don't worry, almost all Windows boxes have at least 2 USB ports. You also make your IT geeks happy because their is no install.

:)

Regarding the Mac Software...

The DNA200 uses eScribe software, and it too, isn't compatible with Mac. But I did head on over to the "other side" and found a little tutorial, which I have have modified slightly for our purposes, because it is chock full of good information.

We all know that there are a few ways to run Windows on a Mac and until ProVape makes a Mac Native software we're going to have to run one of these to update our Radius.

The simplest way to do this is with a free program called Virtualbox. This allows you to install and run many different operating systems that run virtually on your system. Prior to starting down this path, get accustomed to the lingo: your mac is the "host" and the operating system you run virtually will be called the "guest".

To set this up, download the OSX "host" software from:

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

While you are there, download the extension pack listed as for "all supported platforms".

When the DMG for OSX has downloaded open it and run the install package as you would for any other program.

After it has installed, open your applications folder, and right click virtualbox and select open...you will have to do this the first time as it is a program downloaded from the Internet...for future uses you can open it normally.

Once open, use finder and go to your downloads folder and double click the extension pack you just downloaded. Virtualbox will open it and add it to its program.

From here you need to install a version of windows that you will use to update the Radius. If you have a disk for an install, you can follow many of the guides on-line to use your install media to install the operating system. For example:

http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/how-to-install-windows-7-in-virtualbox-guide-hatryst

If you want to skip the install (though it is recommended), you can download pre-built virtual box images from Microsoft. These are for testing Internet Explore but work fine for our purposes.

http://dev.modern.ie/tools/vms/mac/

If you go the download route...they are large files. Once the download is complete, open Virtualbox and go to "File" then select "Import Appliance" (another bit of lingo is that a complete "guest" OS is called an appliance). Navigate to your downloads folder and pick the pre-setup virtualbox image you downloaded.

This will bring in the downloaded install of the version of windows you selected. Once it is imported, select it and then choose "start". It will boot your guest appliance in a window. From there you will have a fully functional system that you can use to download the Radius software, when it becomes available.

One we have a better Idea of what the Radius software will be like, operationally, more instructions can be added for specifics.

And I'm not available to answer questions on this... It is not my knowledge that I shared. I cloned it

You can also use VMFusion from VMWare, parallels from Apple or bootcamp from Apple.

I'm currently on my lunch break, staring at the Radius on the ProVape site and attempting to talk myself out of clicking the "BUY" button. My wife, who also vapes, already thinks I'm ridiculous with my mod obsession. It's definitely not something I need, rather something I want. The color options aren't helping, either - I like them all, with the exception of the ghost white. Decisions, decisions...

You've come to the wrong place if you're looking for support to help you 'not' buy a Radius. We are enablers of the highest order. Yes we are.

So, just click that buy button and sit back and wait for something magical to be shipped to you.

There. Easy Peasy!

Oh......and you're welcome!

So just finished a charge on my included green Sammy. It's definitely better than the blue. Just shy of two days on the same1.7ohm 28g dripper as my last test. Puff count 639 on average 7-10 sec puffs. I got mor puffs out of the charge but less time die to hanging out at my local b&m for a couple hours chain vaping.

Help me NOT buy a Radius? I was looking for help deciding on the color! ;)

All kidding aside, I've rationalized the expense and talked myself into buying it. Now...black onyx or cabernet red?

So I have a question for our dear friend @Vape360, if he can answer it.

How much longer is the Radius expected to be under "pre-order" status? I have a lovely midnight blue sitting in the cart begging for my CC#, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger.

Why? As I may have mentioned before, I'm a trucker. This means I'm away from home, and subsequently my mailbox, for roughly 28 days at a time, and actually at home for 4. As you may have guessed, this can complicate things like timing shipments to match their arrival with my own. I'm due to get back out of this infernal vehicle again in about a week and a half, but with the "pre-order" status of the Radius and the associated uncertainty of a shipping date, there's just this hugenormous question mark hovering over when the appropriate time to pull the trigger actually is.

Okay, I guess I have two questions. Barring any kind of definitive date for the Radius to be listed as "in stock," how likely would it be to successfully request a specific ship date?

Can't go wrong with the black. Personally I'm partial to the midnight blue ;)

One thing that would be sweet if Provape made the button light up green when finished charging on the next software update, or at least make it an option. Also, there's a tiny bug where the lightning bolt stays on the battery meter even though its fully charged, and it goes away sometimes when fully charged. No biggie though.
Hello,

When the battery gets towards the end of the charge cycle it will slow to a trickle charge to top off, so while the battery meter shows its full graphically, it's still topping off that last little bit. Once the icon disappears is when it has completed the full charge cycle. :)

Well, this is simple then. Nothing nicer than a nice glass of Cabernet and good vape.

Ps: while you're clicking away, you may as well go ahead and add a P3 Kabuki while you're shopping. Best combination, EVER!
