Sorry NCPatches I only use AW IMR batteries. It's probably just in my head but I don't buy any other. I can't help on that one other then I know Amazon doesn't sell them.

Amazon does have the 18650 2000mAh AW IMR batteries. But that's the only size and mAh rating I saw.

IMR batteries sometimes are referred to as safe chemistry batteries. What that means is that they won't burn, potentially so rapidly that it's like an explosion. Traditional (ICR) lithium batteries can. So a cheap way to make those safer is to add a wafer thin bit of electronics to the battery to attempt to make sure that the current limit of the battery is never exceeded and that the battery is never over discharged as either of these can lead to the explosion. These are the so called protected battery. So called because the circuit is cheap and can fail. They make really cheap batteries of this style without the protection, you often get them in kits from China where you get a mod, charger and batteries all in one box. This is the history behind the warning to use protected batteries in a mod but they didn't have the safe chemistry batteries when mods were initially being made and the warning persisted. Nowadays it would be more accurate to say never use unprotected traditional chemistry (ICR) lithium batteries.

Here's a simple set of rules for batteries. If they end with "fire" they're cheap and great for flashlights, not so great for vaping. If you're going crazy and getting into rebuilding and sub ohm coils, that is coils below 1 ohm or fractional ohms, you need high drain IMR batteries and a mechanical mod. Panasonic, Sony, Efest and AW all make them. If you like hot vape and the lower end of the ohm range, say 1.2 to 1.8, IMR are still the better choice but any IMR will be usable. This applies to either a mechanical mod or vv/vw styles. For a mod that you'll be using with stock store bought toppers, clearomizers and cartomizers, either mechanical or vv/vw or or anything in between, ICR batteries are just fine. You can use IMR if you want but ICR are cheaper. If you're going to run that vv/vw mod above about 10W you'll want IMR batteries because even with a 2.5 ohm topper you'll be reaching the current limit of the protection circuit of ICR batteries. Personally I use TrustFire in my vv/vw mods because I'm usually vaping at between 6 and 7.5 Watts and so don't push the battery. But I also have IMR batteries for my mechanical as I start to explore the rebuildable world.

One line answer for batteries... Buy IMR, high drain if doing sub ohm, they'll always "be good" for vaping. If you're at the low current draw end of things you'll end up paying for a discharge rate you'd never use but you'll always be safe.

Ok, this might seem kinda silly, but...did any of you lose your appetite when you started vaping? I have to remind myself to eat! Not normally a problem  Lost some pounds, which is ok, NOT complaining! Is this normal?

I've lost 99.9% of my desire to munch... which I think was probably just cigarette cravings I was compensating for, if I didn't want to jump up at that very moment and run outdoors (like when watching TV... but at the commercials... GET OUTTA MY WAY! hehehe). So now I can just sit there and vape, not munch, so hopefully that will have good results. :thumb:

My appetite for meals seems much the same, BUT, I had gone on a "get rid of the holiday blubber" diet right after the first of the year, and started exercising a lot stricter portion control, so I had already caused the size of my stomach to shrink a bit. I still find myself giving the ol man my last chicken tender, or saving what I didn't eat for his lunch (he doesn't mind, in 26 yrs we've swapped plenty of spit!).

The best thing is, I don't walk around wanting... SOMETHING!... half the time, as I used to. At which times, I'd grab the pork rinds and have at it. Or run outdoors for a smoke. I have a whole bag of pork rinds sitting right here, that I haven't even opened. :thumb:

And no, I'm not fat, most folks would probably wonder why I wanted to lose weight. But *I* know that there's still almost 10 lbs that really shouldn't be there, and I *hate* my middle looking like the pillsbury doughboy! I might be getting older, but I'll be damned if I'll go gracefully! Kicking and screaming all the way!! :D

Last night I asked the ol man if he'd walk with me in the evenings, now that daylight is staying longer and the weather is starting to improve; grudgingly, he said he would, but only because he knows I really need to, and I'm timid of the folks on this street I don't know, and the dogs... yikes... But I'm *really* looking forward to being able to walk up from the bottom of the street without having to stop in the middle and gasp for breath!

Thank you for all that information. I appreciate the time you took, to help us that aren't too sure about what to buy.

I'm finding that foods taste really DELICIOUS now! So it's balancing out for me. When this vaper's tongue gets gone, I'm hoping to get some control back.

I discovered that yesterday with the bacon... but I already loved that, so restraining myself with it is pretty much a habit at this point.. but if it gets any BETTER tasting... OMG! :D And last night we had boring old Tater-tots... and by golly, they tasted good! I couldn't believe it!

Lord knows! If I could only have 1 meat the rest of my life, it would be BACON!

And I agree, I am starting to taste things more than I ever have. I don't remember what things tasted like when I was 12, so to me it's been forever.

I have noticed that my sense of smell has increased. Things that didn't bother me when I smoked, have now become an issue after vaping for 3 months.

where do you get in on these co-ops and how do you find out about them?

Co-Ops

It's the main menu for co-ops and how to get verified...I think you have to be 'Verified' to participate. Well worth the effort, prices are the best, but may not have a co-op for what one is seeking at the time. It's a 'plan ahead' endeavor. Good luck. :)

Nope. That's one of the really frustrating things with Joe's site. See a good deal on an interesting thing, click the link and then sudden disappointment, it's from FastTech :(

Don't know what browser you all are using or what your "view" settings are, but I just hover over any link and look at the status bar at the bottom... you can see where the link will take you without actually clicking. This also works for links in emails, which could potentially prevent one from clicking a "phishing" link and getting malware auto-installed on your computer.

Buy IMR, high drain if doing sub ohm, they'll always "be good" for vaping. If you're at the low current draw end of things you'll end up paying for a discharge rate you'd never use but you'll always be safe.

There's your bottom line logic right there. I have many ICR 18650s salvaged from laptop battery packs, but they NEVER go into my mods, mech or electronic... just not worth the risk. Flashlights, portable power packs, etc... yes. Mods, No.

I just don't want to risk forgetting or not knowing which is which, or which I might have installed in a particular Mod at the moment... KISS

My - Glad you made the trip to the po this morning. Tomorrow looks like a different story for you to get out. Second snow here last night, which is now solid ice on the ground. Thankfully, the roads are fair. Ridiculous!

It was snowing this morning when I went out to take the hubby :p

Ok, I think I'm gonna order a Provari with a z-atty-pro... It's pretty , I want it, and I've researched the heck out of it... but what if I get it and don't like it? That's a lot of money :( decisions, decisions

The provari sells on the classified for nearly what it costs new. Not a big risk :)

I have one small piece of wisdom I have gathered over my 3 years of vaping I would like to share. You new guys and gals please don't feel you have to have the shiniest most expensive thing you can find in the forum and/or the net to be successful. New technology is coming out every day and it is always that one step better than what you have at any given time.

I started out with V2 ecigs which are KR808D-1 threading. I have a WHOLE BUNCH of them with chargers, PCCs, shiny black batteries, shiny SS batteries, pass throughs..........you name it I bought it. Then I discovered Echos. Neat system.......Tx taught me a lot about what I didn't know and would have never discovered by myself about them. Then the "Echo craze" went away as has the 808 craze for the most part.

So I had to start over to get up to speed with 510 threading and eGo threading. It was a very expensive and time consuming set of lessons. Had I not gone for what I thought was THE THING to have at any given moment I could have saved a wad of money. You would not believe the size and weight of the tackle box I have all that stuff in. So in adopting the 510/eGo as my threading standard I started collecting very carefully what I gleaned from various forums (ECF and beyond) was necessary to satisfy my continued non-smoking success without spending a fortune. I have amassed a bunch of eGos, Vamos, Sigeleis, ProTanks, K100s and DIY equipment. I totally make my own ejuice now, have a stash of nic and flavorings and every once in a while I grab the coat-tails of a co-op. All of this (everything) on my self "inflicted" budget of $100/month.

Often I have to reconvince myself that the shiny APV on the web page I'm looking at is definitely NOT calling my name. I've been retired for 11 years and loving every minute. My first hobby was having a fancy weather station. My second hobby was building a web site to transfer my weather information to the web and to the network of other weather enthusiasts. My third hobby now is ecigs. I quit smoking cigarettes overnight almost 3 years ago after buying a brand new carton. I threw the whole thing in the garbage and saved one lighter to carry around in my pocket which reminds me constantly NOT to use it.

Point being if one has the desire to quit, it will happen. It does not depend on fancy PVs or atomizers or anything but your deep down internal desire to kick the cig habit for good. The next big thing on the PV market is just around the corner.

I agree completely.

My Reason for the provari and reos actually has little to do with the bright shiny and everything to do with fears of what the government may do to us. I want devices that will last in the event that devices become difficult to get. That is it. End of story.

I didn't loose my appetite per se, buy as I vape sweet flavors, my sweet tooth is largely satisfied, so I eat less of the sweet stuff

Lord knows! If I could only have 1 meat the rest of my life, it would be BACON!

AMEN!!!!

And I agree, I am starting to taste things more than I ever have. I don't remember what things tasted like when I was 12, so to me it's been forever.

With me, it's only been 4 days 100% smoke-free, though I was smoking *VERY* little all last week... like 8, between Sun-Thurs... so I'm just *starting* to notice more flavor in foods... The ones I already loved, taste way better. The ones I could tolerate, suddenly actually taste good. This is yet another "up side" to all this!

I have noticed that my sense of smell has increased. Things that didn't bother me when I smoked, have now become an issue after vaping for 3 months.

Unfortunately, this is true for me too; but my sense of smell was already a real pain in the ...., even when I was a pack a day smoker. Now it's like purgatory every time I walk out the door. My husband thinks it drives HIM crazy??? He should try wearing this nose, and see how he feels about it then! ;) Last night, when the friend of my husband's who's been staying with us came in, he brought what seemed to be an entire cloud of his cigar smoke with him... and before, I never even noticed it.

But, with all the wonderful benefits, I guess there has to be a *little* bitter with the sweet. Right??? ;) (I keep telling myself this, trying to somehow close my nose -- it doesn't work very well, and puts a really weird look on my face, I'm sure!) :p

I'm thinking I need some large plastic squeeze bottles with "pointy" tips... y'know, like restaurant ketchup bottles.

Right now, I'm mixing my 50/50/12 nic base in a 250ml wide mouth bottle that my first nic purchase came in. This means every time I want to then put some into 30ml bottles, I have to use a funnel. Which means I'm wasting that which sticks to the funnel, and also means more nic in my septic tank after I rinse the funnel (this may be a non-issue, I don't know, but that's another subject). Using the funnel is getting to be a PITA, because now I'm supporting me, my wife, my elderly lady v-vert, the 19yo son of a friend of ours, probably soon another convert, and others.

Anyone have any links, solutions, or suggestions? tia
