MissMcBV - That's not a rumor - when I 1st came to ECF the 'modding' forum was full of folks making 'mods' from AA flashlight tubes and copper plumbing pipe.

My first DIY "mod" (in 2009) was made from CPVC pipe and end caps, 3 AA batteries, and a 15A momentary switch from the auto parts store... found it the other day, along with some other stuff.

Gotta get to work right now, but will try to post some pics of my "Screwdriver" (for a DSE 901) later.

IMHO and as far as I know, the Screwdriver was the first "Mod"...made from a flashlight with a bottom switch. And the best part, caveman is still in business... google "screwdriver mod"...

he, he - eGo's and a Microstick - that pretty much goes from one end of the vapin' spectrum to the other. But hey - they both work![/QUOTE]

Yeah I know:facepalm: Just want to keep things on the smaller side for traveling. I also got the dreaded 'Out Of Stock' notice for my Mini Davide and MVP Petals. They should be here when I return from vacation. I actually ordered the MVP to replace my Egos which are kind of on their last leg...figured for $30 couldn't go wrong. I do find that while traveling or when life just has you going in circles (like when my dad was so ill last fall) and Ego/Evod is grab and go and will keep you from crawling the walls:laugh:

Thanks TX...hope you are doing well, nice to see you here when you have the time and energy! :toast:
Gongrats on thrt two yearr anny anniversary coulple of days a go. I meant to get bak but got olst on the influx posts! They all are ,mportant.:toast:

Guess you got up to date on the slow heating coils...I'm liking 1.5 Ω coils and using 30ga Kanthol (sp). I have 28 and 32 ga, but the 30 ga seems to work better for what I'm trying to achieve. I'm using an 18 ga blunted needle for the wraps (8/7 - 7/6 and 9/8 for higher Ω's) :toast:

Anyone who knows about building coils (Mike, Myrany, etc.):

I just read here that micro-coils heat up very, very slowly if you make your coils over 1.5 ohms. Is that true?

I really don't like the heat of such low resistance coils. So, should I not bother with micro-coils? Should I stick with the old style since I prefer closer to 2.0 ohms?

As Mike said need to know what RDA, etc. you are using...I did notice a similar problem with my PT and noticed I did not have the coil directly over the air inlet. I was getting almost NO vapor, reminded me of GreenSmoke.

So, is there an in-between? Some coils touching, some not? Should I be googling this? I'm not getting enough vapor (which could be good, where vaping is forbidden) but maybe I'd like more when I'm outdoors?

I have noticed some of the coils taking a few micro seconds longer to glow, but nothing for me to be concerned about. They are still doing a KILLER job. My nano stopwatch broke so couldn't time it.

To which I would have to ask define slow ;)

I run 1.8-2 ohm micro coils quite frequently and have never noticed a difference. BUT I also use 30 gauge wire not the heavier 26-28 gauge many prefer.

Someone once suggested calling it a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System...
But that would leave out anyone who uses 0 nic.....
Other people call it their Binky.... I just call it a PV and leave it at that.

Yeah, that i saw in a joke, look at the initials.
Not sure thats gonna fly
hey guys, like my new P.E.N.I.S.
Alternative nicotine delivery sysrem is better than penis!!!

I like saying mod.
Takes away the stigma of ecig.
Makes people say.. Your what?
My mod, where's my mod?

Either way. You can keep your PENIS LOL.
Im not helping anyone find one of those! You're on your own on that,

Have you seen my penis?
Dont think that is gonna go over well with my kids.
Oh dad? He's upstairs lol

Sorry, not enough coffee yet... Late night.

I don't know how accurate it is, but I read somewhere that when vaping first started and people wanted bigger and better batteries they used the casings for flashlights and "modified" them to turn them into vaporizers and that's why they're called mods. Again, that could just be a rumor, but it is a cute story, lol...

No story, it's true! There is still, or was a couple months ago, a mod/flashlight combo that just changed heads for vape or light. Prob is, you can't see when vaping, or vape when you can see! The last time I saw the combo was on Amazon. The vids for turning a flashlight into a mod are still floating in the u tube netherworld.

Oh good lord! Ya'll crack me up!

Little late getting started today. During one of my many out-of-bed trips during the night, to care for my diabetic kitty (the avatar) I caught my foot on a platform rocker and broke my blasted toe! And now I have to go to the store! This ought to be fun, hobbling around Walmart.

Yes, I KNOW it's broke, my toes have caught hell during my life, broke several, been to the Dr a couple times, but can't see paying $200 for them to put tape on it, I can do that! Unless it is out of place, there is no sense in the Dr run. I only had one out of place and putting it back myself was impossible. Dr definitely needed that time. I'm sure there are stronger than me that can do that, but I couldn't.

Bad thing about it, I hadn't broke one in over 10 years until about 6 months ago, now this makes 2 in less than a year.

Ya'll have a good day, gotta get moving and get the grocery/bank run out of the way, Oh Joy.

Well, that certainly is an accurate description and mine does have nic in it, but I'm still not going to use it!! I'm just calling mine a PV and leave it at that. Seriously though, I try never to use the term eCig because I just hate comparing my PVs to cigarettes in any way. It's part of why we're having so much trouble getting people to separate the two. The FDA is still trying to figure out how many puffs equals a cigarette and can they stipulate how many days we'd need to vape at 4mg nic before we're cured and can stop.

HAH! I'd like to see 'em try that "cured" business at an AA meeting -- they'd be run right out of the room! After 21+ yrs, I'm STILL not cured -- just recovering! If I was cured, I wouldn't need to leave the room when they show beer commercials, just so I don't drool all over myself!

Seriously though... real die-hard smokers (like me, I'm still smoking, dammitall, but not for much longer if I and my eRoll have anything to say about it) might NEVER be cured... just recovering! People that have never been addicted to anything just DO NOT get it, not at all. AND they believe that anyone who IS addicted, or ever has been addicted, is just... weak. THOSE are the kinds of idiots we have to fight the hardest.

By "their" logic, I vape an e-pipe. It's a SID, but it MUST be an e-pipe, because I was not a cigarette smoker, I was a pipe smoker.

Pulled up in my SUV, unloaded my ATV, hit the trail, then discovered I was SOL cause I left my APV on top of the TV.....Can somebody please just tell me what to call my vv/vw v3? :D
Just call it a PV and when people ask, "It's LIKE an electronic cigarette, only MUCH better"

I'm on Vapemail watch!

Ordered 3 Aerotank bases for my PT2s and clones last weekend.

No more leaking on the positive post. No more varying "draws" on different mods, due to the varying depths of the 510 connectors... resulting in covering up the side air holes.

Wheeeeeee...

Oh - 'splain me 'splain me, lol!!! I get that leak onto the battery top all the time and have to unscrew the cartos and clean them or it gurgles and doesn't hit well... ordering this aerobase will fix that?!? Any carto?
