I really want to have everything I need and know how to use it, 'just in case'. Mech mods kinda scare me, I'll have to do a lot of studying before I feel comfortable with one.

I feel exactly the same way, don't want those Washington ......s to keep me from vaping what and how I choose -- because you know they're gonna TRY -- but I'm still so *brand new* at all this, I don't have the foggiest even what questions to ask -- so I read all this stuff with great interest; it might not mean much to me now, but later, I'll have a stockpile of very useful info.

My iTaste vv3 will be here today - - and that's about as fancy/techie as I can manage right now... but it seemed like a really good way to start! I better go watch some of the videos for it so I know what to do with it when it gets here!

Mechs are not really all that scary. Particularly if you are not wrapping your own coils as the Ohms of the atty will be high enough not to be a problem for most quality batterys.

The one thing you will want is a multimeter. SO you can check the volts level of your battery often. You never want to discharge your battery lower than 3.5 volts and mechs do not have a cutoff. They will happily let you vape until you have taken it so low the battery is damaged.

I have sort of got the hang of it now where I know "If I vape this much of this tank on this device it is time to change the battery". But until I figured that out I was checking the battery with the multimeter every hour or 2.

I've never even owned a kick. In 18650 no I don't believe there is room for anything but the battery.

EDIT. I had forgotten the second tube part for the 18500 so yeas I do believe a kick would work in all 3 configs.

No you do not have to use rebuildables with Mechs at all. I have stuck everything from a simple cartomizer to a protank to a carto tank to a rebuildable on mine.

Well that makes me feel better! I kinda got the impression is was 'required' to use a mech.

WIllie I just took mine apart and had another look at it. I had totally forgotten about the 18500 tube. I am GUESSING using various tube configs you can do a kick/fuse with 18350, 18500 or 18650.

NC using a fuse is not a bad idea. It gives you a certain level of protection. Using a kick gives you some variable wattage

I have never used either. I am just very careful with my batteries and the ohms of my attys. I didn't want to get dependent on electronics like the fuse or kick should vapocalypse come and I not be able to replace them. So I learned what I am doing.

It's basic. They carry other inexpensive mechanical mods although they're more expensive at $30+ but look nicer or have better switches or eGo & 510 threads, etc.

I smoked my last cigarette this morning, I am determined on that. I even took a picture of the stubbed-out ...., so I can always remember how filthynastyYUCKY those things are! (the ashes in the ashtray!) When I smoked the 2nd half of yesterday's, last night, it tasted so foul it nearly gagged me, so this morning, I went ahead and smoked the whole thing. What the hell -- that is OVER!

Making sure your last cig tastes foul is an excellent strategy. And re-lighting a stubbed-out one is the best way of doing that.

Good for you, Andria! It's easier than you think after a couple of days. Of course, I started with 24 mg. A couple of times it made me light headed so I switched to 18 mg after about a month. I'm down to 12 mg now.

Well the one this morning, tasted pretty much normal -- the morning ones were the only ones that have tasted "right" in 2 wks! But that half I smoked last night... geez, I won't forget that in a hurry; it was so bitter it was like I just took a drink of some evil poison; had to come in and vape up some serious clouds to get rid of that taste. The unpleasant part this morning was the cold -- down into the 20s last night, so pretty dang chilly out there at 10am this morning! -- another aspect of smoking I won't have to deal with again, freezing my patooties off just to smoke a stupid cigarette! But it *was* cold, and I made myself stay out there and smoke that whole thing, shivering all the way -- so I'll remember -- smoking: must go out in freezing wind: STUPID.

Hmmm that's interesting, going to have to give that a lot of thought, I do like the way it looks.

On the subject of mech mods, is it absolutely necessary to build your own coils to use them? Can you not use a tank right out of the box?

I have a K100 and like it a lot. Yes you can use any topper you wish. Be sure to buy a Kick if you get a mech. You don't need the fancy Evolve Kick2 just a clone will do. It's for your protection since there is no circuitry to protect against shorts, etc. A Kick also turns the mech into a variable watts mod that is a good thing also. Not using a Kick can pose problems.

I have to strongly disagree with not using a Kick. Hopefully we can agree to disagree. Case in point.......after 3 years of vaping I actually put a battery in a Sigelei V3 backwards this morning and sat here puffing on it wondering why it wouldn't fire. Yes, dumb I know but we all have our moments.

ETA: If you get the K100 or K101 you will not be able to use a kick. A fuse maybe but not a kick. I don't remember anywhere that sells them adding that little bit of helpful information so I'm kinda bummed but thought it was worth mentioning.

I've been on "1 a day" since Tuesday, and really, I've barely noticed how many I *wasn't* smoking; yesterday it felt kinda "pro forma," and it kinda did this morning, too, but I knew my best chance for success at having my first smoke-free day was tomorrow, when I have the iTaste and the slightly stronger nic version of this Virginia I love so much. So I stuck to the plan yesterday and today, and will stick to the plan tomorrow: my first smoke-free day.

Well.. most stressful in weeks.. vape gear did its job to keep me calm. juice delivery came with a "vaping allowed" sticker. It now sits proudly on the front door.

I think that is a very smart move.
