Just wondering if anyone rebuilds , where do they buy and what do they use as far as wire , wicks , cotton ?
As for the atomiser I like the look of these rdta well not the look but the drip plus tank or a rta if the couple of rdta I have seen are no good and I am more interested in the rebuilding bit and the tank than dripping capabilities.
Just if you can have both and its good but very good rta would be preferable to an ok rdta

Temco is often given as a source for Kanthal, but I don't know about their shipping international. MyFreedomSmokes is another reasonable source, and they do. But check Temco first.

I use rayon, after a long time using cotton. I'd think either one or both of those should be available to you locally. Cotton at a pharmacy / drug store, rayon at a beauty supply.

Many of us have found the Kayfun styles to be more than acceptable in the RTA line-up, I'm now equipped with 5... (Well, they all have different flavors....)

You need to be prepared in case the first 4 wear out, and you can't buy vaping supplies anymore.

Though, there's really not that much to wear out, other than the coils, wicks, juice, and batteries.

After my lark with my clearo heads, I just rewicked my orchid, this time I PACKED the juice channels with cellucotton, and it is working fine. It just depends on how satisfied I am with this, given the fact that I am no longer wasting juice, as to whether I will be happy with Orchids, or want to invest more $$ in the Russians. Waiting for the Russian. One coil of twisted 32 is much less trouble than two coils. And plain 32 is just too difficult to handle. Sometimes, like David says, it is better to back-engineer.

I was listening to a conference, but the audio was bad, so now listening to music. Back to work.

I was inspired by the vape lair photos to do some organizing. My vape stuff was in many locations throughout the house. Still a couple more piles to sift through, but 90% of my stuff is now in one place. Batteries and chargers not included, nor the nic in the freezer. The tub on the lower shelf is a catch-all for all kinds of vape stuff that didn't deserve a dedicated place in the bookcase, which is in a corner of my living room behind my TV. By my own personal standards, this is totally organized.

Think I've got enough flavorings to last a while? All the bottles on the top of the bookshelf are flavorings.

I would just like to consolidate my stuff! My vape lair is spred out all over the house basically. I do my builds on the top of my dresser, mix juice on a section of kitchen counter, store flavors in the top of the pantry cabinet in covered boxes, keep all my mods in the living room and do any modding out in the garage.

Welcome to the new Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch. This thread is a continuation of the original started almost 2 years ago by ˇTxtumbleweed’ and it grew to over 21,000 posts. The mods have kindly asked us to close it and start a new one.

The original thread is still around and you can find it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/298835-older-folks-vaping.html

I’d like to dedicate our new porch to Tex. He started the ball rolling and helped so many of us when we first started our vaping journey. He offered us encouragement, shared his knowledge and told us great personal stories ranging from riding the rails as a kid, working as a lineman, lumberjack and fishing the cold waters of the Bering Straits.

Randall, I’m honored to introduce the new Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch at your request. Best wishes my friend and please continue to hang out with us.

The mods have asked us to stay on topic about vaping in this thread. Please adhere to this guideline. Feel invited to join us in the lounge where we can chat about vaping and any other ‘topic of the day’ that meets your fancy.

Hi all, my name is Jere and I live outside of Tombstone Arizona. I hope I don't need to take off my spurs.

I'm currently running MVP2s and Protanks, but am looking hard at the iStick and switching over to the Nautilus'. I also have three Kayfun 3.1 clones that I reserves for the porch in the evenings. My doctor said things are getting better. Any suggestions/experiences with mid-level mods would be appreciated.

I personally have a few more than that, although I only rotate 12 at a time... Those 12 change depending on my mood

If you weta spurs, please don't sit on the beanbags or puff furniture... There are plenty of rockers and wood swing chairs to sits on. :)

Hi Jere,

Welcome to the porch! You can leave your spurs on, if you want, as long as you don't rip up the upholstery. We like to keep the place looking nice for the guests.

People seem to like the new BVC vertical coils on the Nautilus, and the Nautilus alway gets good reviews. You'll find a good mix of equipment in this thread, and I'm sure someone will be along momentarily who uses them. I wonder why you mainly use the Kayfuns on the porch. Is it because they tend to leak when you carry them around with you?

Glad you joined us on the porch!

I don't get much leakage, and if I do it is just after filling it. As to only in the evenings (and weekends), I am new to rebuilding and have been trying different flavors that I thought were to "demure" before. So, after finishing a smallish 2ml bit of juice, I rebuild for the practice and having a new flavor. I always have changed coils/cotton at flavor changes. The tanks get cleaned and, since we have minimal humidity, they air-dry. Sooo, that means a new tank to build on or just to put a coil into (Protank 2s). Some use one tank all week, well, I am more of an 8 tank person. I really enjoy the hobby, but I am fairly busy, too.

I sit in the evening with my two boxes of gear and play. I can't do that during the day. That is why I don't use rebuildables during the day. Maybe when I retire.

Well, my Tesla 2six clone finally arrived from FastTech, a month after ordering. It was a little disappointing. The machining wasn't very good on it, and there were a few design flaws as well. I had to go at it with the grinder and drill press to make it work reasonably well, but it's doing OK now. Shrug. Now I'm trying to figure out how to replace the spring with magnets, and I'm pretty sure a couple of 17mmX10mmX1mm ring magnets from SuperMagnetMan.com will do the trick. I also found someone on the mechmods forum that just gave up on the 2six completely after his started autofiring on him and melted the spring, and tossed it in the desk drawer after deciding that the 26650 form factor wasn't for him. It seemed like a waste to me, so I asked him if he wanted to sell it, and I think we'll probably work something out.

Also, just ordered another Big Buddha from FluidVapes, and another of those pyrex and steel large bore driptips from FastTech to go with it. Wasn't I just saying a couple of weeks ago that I was done spending? Well, I'm really done spending now, for real, no backsies :D

Currently vaping on the Big Buddha with a mix of TFA Ripe Banana and TFA Cinnamon Redhots. Tasty. I tried a small batch of the TFA Blueberry Extra, and it tastes OK, but for some reason, it's a little harsh on my throat. I'm a little surprised because my liquid is still around 90% VG, and the other fruit flavors feel smoother. I was assuming that most of the throat hit was from the PG and nic, but the blueberry flavor itself seems to have throat hit. Has anyone noticed anything similar?

Hi Jere,

That makes sense. You might find that when you have a build you like, you'll leave it in the Kayfun for weeks at a time. Once a week or so, you can just remove the wicks, dry-burn the coils, and rewick it. That's really all of the maintenance you need to keep them going. Then, if you want, you can carry the Kayfun around as your all-day vape. Just top off the liquid in the morning, make sure you have a freshly charged battery, and you're good for the day.

I think I found the problem with my R91 fill hole leaking. I soaked one in vodka last week and it stopped leaking. I was filling a different one yesterday and looked at the fill hole, with my glasses on, and there was a build up of old juice in the screw seat! I guess I never really looked before, just filled and put the screw in. Anyway I took a q-tip and cleaned it out, hasn't leaked since. I have evidently been wanting in the fill hole maintenance dept.

Other than cleaning, if I'm going to change flavors in a KFc I'll just pull the wick, dry burn, rinse again (if I'm feeling ambitious...) and pull in a new wick. If you like the "action" on the build, no reason to recoil. I tend to rebuild my Kanger single coils with a silica wick and cotton flavor wicks, so I can do the same with them until the coil goes away :)

Yeah. Right. :)

Welcome Jere and all the others that I might have missed. You all pull up a rocker or a bench and get comfy. I do believe this is the most non contentious forum on ECF. Great folks.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 Android phone on a keyboard that waaayyy too small (or my thumbs are waaayyy too big).

NO. We're NOT!! :p

Good info to have. I recall some time back, different thread, someone had a really tight draw on a T3S (or evod, or similar...) and after total dis-assembly, cleaning, rebuilding and rilling, had the same tight draw. Then found some pocket lint clogging the air intakes! It's those little "obvious" things that sneak up!

Amazing what you can see when you put on your glasses. Been wearing them for years now and still can't get used to it. Think you cleaned the windshield all pretty, put on your glasses and it's streak city. May want to tweak that last sentence there, or not. I know I'll never forget this maintenance tip. ;)

I need to go out and buy my first set of bifocals :( I used to just be able to take my glasses off for close-up work, and had really good near vision. Getting old bites :)
