Can I ask out of curiosity If you got or built a coil at say 1.5 ohms then after a week of use what would you expect that coils ohm reading to be , same - lower - higher ?

It might go a little higher as the oxidation layer on the Kanthal forms thoroughly, but it should remain about the same. If you're seeing big swings downward, you likely have a short, and if you see big swings upward, you probably have a loose connection to your post screw.

Hi PapaSloth and returning Doctors and everyone.

Still Wondering on the kayfun clone I got on the bottom the middle screw , is that some battery pin adjustment ?
Is it best to leave it alone ? As I read that someone turned it with s screwdriver and it shorted when they fired it up because the positive block touched the negative block.

The bottom middle screw (510 connector screw) attaches to the center block in your kayfun and is the only thing holding it on. When you turn that screw, the center block will either loosen, or turn. If it turns, it can easily touch another part of the evaporation chamber or the negative post, causing a short, so that's BAD. You want to tighten that screw with the center block held in place, so it's very snug. If you overtighten it too hard, you can actually snap the screw, because it's hollow and your air flows through it (so don't overtighten it too much).

There's also a hole drilled across the screw where the air comes in and runs through the hollow part. If possible, this hole should line up with your two air holes so that you can see straight through the Kayfun (this only applies to the EHPro dual airhole version, which is what you have). If you can do that without undertightening or overtightening the screw, that's ideal, but it's more important that the center block is very snug and that you don't snap the center screw.

Pretty much the same. I have been vaping a 1.5 ohm coil for a couple of weeks now with no change. If your resistance is bouncing around generally I would guess something is loose. Screws on build deck, adjustable pin on 510 or RBA on the device. Also check that all connections are clean. If you need to clean your 510 use isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip.

Leave it alone. It holds the positive block in place. As a matter of fact if it's loose it could be one of the bouncing resistance causes as well.

Be wary of that microwave, do not put plastic bottles full of 50/50 in one! When I first started DIY over a year ago, I did that. I was watching through the door and at about 6-7 seconds the liquid started vaporizing rapidly and the bottle melted into a heap before I could get the door open. Microwave was full of vapor, melted plastic, and HOT e-liquid.

Gee thanks :) Now I gotta go search yootoob for Kayfun vertical builds.

Still looking for my "vaper's dream", just not as fervently as last week. :D

Au contraire mon frere, I meant the opposite :p... whittling down to just one main PV per day to fiddle with, and instead of keeping it on my person or in my hand all the time, just set it aside wherever I'm at and stop for an occasional vape break, much like I used to smoke. When I smoked I only kept one open pack at a time, and rarely kept it in my pocket.

Right. I kept trying new stuff and got no more satisfaction from them than my good ol' PT2s.

Then before I realized it I had 8-10 "active" toppers, all different, using every Mod and battery I have... just came to be too much hassle to keep up with it all.

Early last Saturday morning, I washed and stored everything except 2 PT2s and the 3D/Nemesis hybrid.

Then I changed my attitude too. I don't "feel the need" to have one within reach all the time now. In fact, right now I've been in the kitchen end of the house for over an hour without one, my three "active" PVs are in the other end of the house where they live. It's liberating

I still have to have my PV within reach at all times! :)

Couldn't have said it better myself. We aught to get together and start a blog for noob vapers.

I continue to think that a serious mistake was made way back when when they decided to call them electronic cigarettes. I think personal vaporizer would have been a lot better. Nobody would think of regulating personal vaporizers. Anything with "cigarette" in it practically begs for regulation while personal vaporizer sound like an existing asthma treatment. :)

Haven't started a build yet still waiting on a couple of things.
Got the ohm meter delivered today and screwed on a nautilus I've been using for the last week. It has 1.8 bvc in it and the meter says its 2.2.
When I put a new coil in I will see what it says. Oh wait just occurred to me it had liquid in the tank if that can alter the reading.

Yeah, Matt, but from a marketing standpoint it seems it was the only way to fly. :) Had to get smokers attention. If they called it a PV back then... would have went over everyone's head.

But I do agree it has gone on too long. Time to add a new word to the dictionary... VAPER!

I loosened the two bottom air hole screws and I can see through both air holes.
The screw on the negative block and the screw on the bottom in the middle of the 510 thread I can't turn with the screw driver provided in the box. That is requires more effort to loosen them than I'm prepared to use.
Also the positive block and screw and negative block and screw are a lot smaller than they look in pics on the net.

Woohoo! And a hedgehog banner. Awesome! :toast: How do you like it? The P3, I mean.
So far, it's great!
I have a cold right now so I can't really give it any kind of test of its limits but I don't vape there anyway. The menu took a little getting use to but had it down in 15-20 min without the manual. Seems smoother than my other two. I'm only using the power boost/pre heat at 2 out of 5 at the moment on a 1.5 coil at 4.2v/ 11.4w

"Nicotine Bo-ng." Discuss. (You can't write the word Bo-ng, apparently).

Whoa, smoother than your other two, ProVari? How smooth the v2.5 was what immediately blew me away. I'm afraid I'd spend all my time playing with the different colored light, but that's just me. Glad you're enjoying it.

Liquid shouldn't affect the reading, but not having a good connection with the 510 connector might. Make sure all your contacts are clean between the Ohm meter and the atty.

The "Genny type" (Genesis / RBA) have the wick above the deck with the wick going down into the tank. Wicking action gets the juice to the coil.

The current most popular is the vacuum tank (RTA) atomizer like the Kayfuns/Taifuns/Russians. The wick is inside a camber and vacuum pressure draws the juice through channels to the wick/coil.

Thanks for that explanation, Mike!

It's not unusual for a coil to rise in resistance by that much over the course of several days. No, it does not matter that juice was in the tank. I've had 1.8 ohm coils go as high as 2.7 ohms after a lot of use, but usually, lack of flavor and vapor volume will have caused me to put in a new coil before it gets that high.
