Two million seven hundred and eighty five thousand mods. Well people do collect things.

Not that i have read every post ever on vaping but It does not seem like there would be that many mods out there that are all good.
Gone through many posts of peoples opinions over and over and so far maybe 5 mods I thought about.
Two of which I've ordered and waiting for and another I may get around to buying. I was thinking before yeah i will buy ten mods at first but i couldn't find ten mods that all sounded worth getting or were said to be or i judged to be any better than the 3 I decided to get.

I'm expecting them to all be good and any other mods would be just for the sake of it or if a new one comes out that seasoned vapers that I feel know whats good say its good.

Mech mods are just basically a metal tube with a switch at one end and some way of adjusting for slightly different sized batteries. You can have minor variations like magnets or springs, 510 connectors or hybrids, and adjustment pins vs. delrin spacers, but that's basically all there is to it. Some of them are a little shorter, some are a little longer, and some have fancy artwork on the sides. Some are stainless steel, brass, copper, or a combination. They can also add copper, silver, or paladium contact plating. None of that really has much of a significant impact on how the mod works. I could say the same about shoes, though. Shoes basically have a hole where you stick your foot in, and some way of attaching the shoe to your foot. So, why do we need so many different types of shoes? We don't really need them, but people seem to like the variety for aesthetic reasons.

Regulated mods are really a whole other kettle of fish. There's quite a bit of difference in the circuitry between some varieties of regulated mods, and I don't believe the dust has entirely cleared yet. I personally think the DNA 40 is kind of a big deal with its temperature control. Everyone else is going in the direction of higher and higher wattages, but Evolv is going in a different direction and saying that temperature matters. I think they're right, and I think there's still plenty of room for innovation in that market.

Of course, I haven't mentioned tubes vs. boxes, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 26mm, or 32mm diameter batteries, battery lengths, telescoping, switchable tubes, etc. Or single, dual, or triple stacked batteries in parallel or series. So, you really are left with quite a few possibilities.

Personally, I just buy 2six clones and 4nine clones, because they're the shortest/smallest and fit in my pockets the best.

I have sort of gone full circle in recent months on vaping. My probes for my multimeter broke so without it I haven't been able to test batterys and hence haven't been using my precious mechs for dripping/squonking. Money is tight until Christmas bonus so getting the probes replaced has to wait. I have been back to using clearos on ego batterys or the provari, Most of my RDAs for some reason won't make good contact on the provari and I am hesitant to mess with the center pin on the provari when it is working fine on everything else. It hasn't been too bad overall. I do miss my REO grands though.

Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you some meter leads. I got about 10 sets laying around.

Looking for something new that I like. Watch this space for new wit, halfwit, nitwit...

Myrany - what kind of RDA's are giving your provari troubles. I've not had any issues with anything from carto's to clearo's to rebuildables not working properly on a Provari. I would suspect the RDA's before the center pin of the Provari and I surely would try messing w/ the Provari's pin.

Everything is on order for my next box mod. Going to build a DNA 40 mod. Got the board and charger module on order. Also have a pair of Orbtronic 30 watt 18650 batteries, some Ni200 in 28 and 30gauge and some Sugru to help hold everything together. If you not familiar with Sugru it's a silcone based modeling clay. You can mold it like modeling clay and it hardens to a flexible rubber consistency in 24 hours. Great for holding and insulating wires on the ends of batteries and holding the circuit boards in place inside the mod body. Better than using hot glue because all you have to do is peal it off and it doesn't leave a residue. I picked up on it reading instructables. Lots of those folk use it to build their projects. Thought I would give it a try.
As usual I will report on how it goes here. I will try to take more pictures this time.

Hey Matt - how you doing with those 'dead' boxes we bought. I finally got around to cleaning one of mine out. I soaked it good w/ isopropyl alcohol and it did a good job loosing the hot glue and even the epoxy.

Bummer - I did manage to break one of the tac switches. Now I have to figure out what size and where to get some new ones. Probably better to replace them all then trust the ones that were in the mod. They're probably the cheapest known to mankind.

I've got a DNA30 and new Evolv charger board I'd like to put back in here. That'll be practice before doing another box w/ the new DNA40 board.

Nice tip about that Sugru stuff. Just read up a little about it.

Look back a couple posts and you'll see where I'm at with the destruction phase of my project box. (looks like we made posts at the same time, you might have missed it)

The tac switches are kind of standard. Bunches of them on Amazon. I have 3 of them from A to Z Vaping and tried one on my box so I know they fit if you want to order a few from them. The ones I have came with my SX350 board and I am going to use 2 of them in the new DNA4O build. I also used a bunch of alcohol on mine, worked great. I cleaned out the silver, thought the red was working but no, it fires continuously, so I'll be cleaning it out soon. I am going to try the build in one of those Fastech flask looking things I sent you the link to.

Neither of my IGO L's or My Octopuses will make contact with the Provari.

PSSSST!!!
He meant to say would not mess with the center pin of the Provari.

I'm waiting on a DNA30 mod clone and I looked at the DNA40 but seems you need a specific wire type for the temperature control.
I still have the whole watts/resistance/coil building/ Mods to arrive in the first place to get through first :)

When my mod/s get here I will be interested to see what some coils read on them , if thats an option.

Tested another new 2.1 Ω bvc coil yesterday and my ohm meter read it at 2.33 Ω.

So all that I have tested have been higher than stated , see if the mods also read them higher or as they are claimed.

Are coils you buy meant to be accurate or are they generally higher than claimed ?

The coils I have built so far was really me just playing around i didn't use any wrapping engine just wrapped a few times and see if they registered anything.

When Im making one to use i will use more care.

As I'm not planning on doing any sub ohms more around say 1.2 - 1.6 just to pick some numbers out of the air , perhaps 0.2-0.3 difference is not that bad ?

Egads, how did they fit all that glue in that box? You guys weren't kidding that it was full of that gunk.
