Where do the leak, LB, and what heads are you using? Neither of mine have any leakage at all, using the rba, rayon wick.
I'm sorry for the delayed response. Mostly used the .5 OCCs. They leaked from the bottom, it seemed ... Always had a puddle around the 510 connection. They've gone to the vape emergency box, where they are resting quietly :)

What a hoot... I am a new member..joined today...also an old guy...and I am literally sitting on my front porch with my coffee and my rda setup vaping as I read the posts here. Former 35 year pack a day smoker...picked the habit up in the army ..now 5 months cig free thanks to vaping. The younguns get a kick when they see me vaping in my buick at a stop light lol. They get impressed when I talk to them about box mods. ..sub ohm tanks and rda builds. Ha ha ha.
I also picked up smoking in the army. Congratulations on becoming a vaper!!

Maybe re-wick them? Could be that's all they need...

Yup (jup), prolly. :). But I'm spending a lot of time with squonk mods, these days. Re-wicking Mantas, Stumpys, and the occasional Nuppin. I did buy a couple of Triton tanks, which I quite like (they are top fill, a wonderful thing!), that top a P3 or SXM ... not the same, though. Deb ruined me with Reos!

Good morning, Porchers! Have a wonderful day!

Had much the same here, a bit south, although our immediate area only had a few blips. But enough to keep me offline most of the day. Rain throughout the night, still raining, but at least the wind has backed off. Didn't lose anything big on our property, but lots of small stuff to be cleaned up... But thankful for the rain! Been too long for us web-footed NWesters!

But maybe pointing out that you need more than just 2 devices? And extended power outage might be longer than those two egos would last you! Or perhaps a regulated 18650 type mod, and a large-ish supply of batteries :thumb: added to your your arsenal?
Yes, the storm did prompt make some additions to my "arsenal" :) Perhaps I'll do some research and add something to keep my ego ones company. Good advice, thank you!

I'm a MTL person and former cig smoker (almost 5 weeks...celebrate the small victories!)and very new to vaping. There's so much to learn I admit I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the choices.

I'm not interested in rebuilding...I like simple. I was pondering the nautilus mini with an istick 30w. Good idea? Bad idea?

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers from one Northwesterner to another!

Way to go ... you past your 1 month smoke free ... that's not a little victory for an ex-smoker.

The iStick 30's and Nauty's are a decent choice. Many people seem happy with them.

Backups - and backups for them! - are essential :)

And congrats on 5 weeks! If you're like many of us, it only gets easier! Every day is a victory, as is every cig NOT smoked!!

I lean toward replaceable battery devices, running 18650 batteries. A few of those, a charger (and a spare ;) ), and you're in good shape for the random power outage - and even for the dreaded low battery as you get ready to leave the house. Just pop in a fresh one. But it does have a higher initial cost.

Most who have the Istick 30 do seem to give good reports on it. I'm sure some other porchers will chime in on that shortly. The 20 runs hot at low settings, and the 50 had some serious problems. Do remember with ANY built in battery model that has a USB charging port - unless they specifically say you can use it while charging, DON'T. The charging circuit isn't heavy duty enough to provide that kind of power, and flames may result.

I'm way behind the curve on the newer clearos, still happy with Kanger PT2 and Anyvape/Davide types, and even the Kanger T3S models, all using single bottom coils. I do rebuild those, and the SBC are easy. Bottom dual coils... well, I personally don't want to bother with building dual coils, although they can be rebuilt to single... Plus, I like to simplify as much as possible, so nearly all my clearos use the same coil. (The T3S will work in the PT lineup, although the PT2 ones won't work in the T3S...)

But from what I've read, the Nauti is a fine choice.

Whatever topper you go with, get extra coils. As you're probably already found out, they don't last forever!

I so appreciate your info! I'll start saving some dough to out towards something new.
Cheers!

Yeah, you! Five weeks is a great accomplishment!

Few of us were interested in rebuilding at the outset. It's enough to deal with vaping instead of cigs, isn't it? :). But, someday you may be interested. Or not!

I'm with David; I'd suggest a mod that takes a battery. I'd also suggest a topper that can be rebuilt but that also takes stock coils. Kind of the best of both worlds. One option might be the Kangar Subox. The mod is small and takes one 18650 battery. It can be recharged via USB, but perhaps better to have a spare battery or two and a charger. That way, you're never stuck. It fires to 50 watts - a lot of power. Comes with a SubTank, 2 organic cotton coils (.5 and 1.5 ohms) and a rebuildable deck, should you want to give it a go.

The Nauti tank is nice, but doesn't provide quite the flavor of the SubTank, IMO. Of course, others may feel differently :). I suspect that, whatever you get, it won't be your last purchase!

ETA: sorry 'bout that, David! Mike, thanks for the heads up. Fixed, now :)

I like the way you're thinking here LB. Good advice. Just a thought of mine though. "justkiddin" mentioned (he?) was a MTL vaper. The subtanks IMO can be pretty airy on the draw even when closed down. Other than that minor point - you're suggestion is spot on.

ps: And that was David suggesting a replaceable batt mod.

Fantastic idea! Both Nautilus tanks have great flavor! I don't think anyone is interested in rebuilding until, like me, you get tired of shelling out for new coils. Rebuilding cuts the cost of vaping so much! I have my rebuildable tanks that I love, devices with changeable batteries, Istick for errand running, & am starting DIY juices. Oh, and one advantage to higher power bateries is that they last longer between charges if you are not vaping at high watts or volts. But the power to go higher is there if you need it.

jk,

I'm a fond fan of the iStick/regular Nautilus combos! That's what I currently use, several in fact.

Although I have other devices and plenty of coil/wick supplies, I'm still a PnP (plug & play) guy at this point (aka lazy).

If you decide to go that route, follow the link in this LINK and use the discount code for an iStick TC40W for under $30 (US) sans shipping.

Why the TC40W?

- wattage or temp control
- larger batt
- display control (stealth mode)
- 510 conn on rounded edge (no topper 'hangover' as with older models)

Good luck in your search. And congrats on five weeks 'bakky free!

Fixed it. Thanks :)

Our local B&M switched over from ego twists to SubTanks for sampling juices. Great to be able to taste flavors! A few other shops I've visited have done the same thing. @juskiddin, it might be worth your while to check out your local shops. Perhaps they have a SubTank (or Nauti) you can sample.

Well @Iffy , I have to say you porchers are awesome folk! Quick responses to my query make me feel at home here. I thank you one and all.

I have been eyeing the Nautilus mini/regular and istick for a while now. My ego ones have been good aside from a few leaking and coil issues (bad batch) but I'm feeling the need for a change + an additional backup.

I will check out the link you so thoughtfully included. I'll need to convert the cost to Canadian dollars (boooo....hissss) to see if I might need to make the purchase on home turf. Crazy Canuck dollar is pitiful at the present time :(

I do like all the "pros" you listed and can feel myself leaning towards the nauti + istick 30/40w.

Thanks again. You've been a great help!

Cheers
