I am certain that someone has informed you many resellers are now stocking premade coils in 10 packs for about $3 per pack. Just bought 30 coils in different ohms from 101Vape. Used the premade ones before as well that came with my latest mods....they are exactly the same! Great for us seniors! Cheaper, too!
Welcome to the porch Frank! :) You don't get it, if buy precoiled coils, you can't come here and whine about coil building. ;)

Great to be here! Yep. At 74 the small stuff does get tedious, specially when you are a retired naval engineer as I am. I HATE doing stuff like coils over again. Perfectionist mindset plus ancient hands = fertile ground for conversation. So does typing on these small keyboards! I tend to use the backspace key a lot!

Thanks. Been over 4 months since my last cigarette and I can honestly say I don't miss them at all. Did a thread on my journey to non-smoking and vaping after over 50 years of addiction. Its in the newbie forum & got lots of replies from nice people who have had similar success. Just picked up a couple of inexpensive box mods and tanks, and playing with sub ohm coils. Not into that too much yet, but it IS interesting because of my background...electrician and later naval engineering officer. Retired CWO4 USCG. Even counting the new hardware, vaping is saving me considerable $$ every month and I can feel the benefits in my overall health! Its a win in every way for me, at least.

I just checked... Sold out :(
ummm? Not sure if you were looking for the V4's (OOS) or KFL-Lites - but I was able to make it to checkout w/ 2 SS KFL-lites.

I think the V4's have been OOS for a long-long time at Vapor Range. I got a couple for that price many months back. When the price dropped to $9.95 there was quite the run on them.
Whew! That was close!

I can't believe how good the flavor is in a Kayfun. I may need to order some more.
I didn't get on the Kayfun bandwagon, either. I really enjoyed the Herakles until TC came around. Now I find I am back to the Subtank Mini and eGo One. Great flavor and smooth vape. I now find the Herakles is too airy and I shut down the air on the Subtanks and eGo One.

sooooooooo happy to hear he's doing better, and even more better with the later update!! Hope he'll soon be home and well recovered!! that's great!! and great idea to keep a spare or two in your desk!
Good to see ya!! And welcome to skitterpop and Boden also!! sorry ya had to go to the dentist, I have a tremendous phobia when it comes to dentists. But hope all is well wiff yur toofers now
I have an extreme dentist phobia. When I go in they have to give me gas before even sticking a finger in my mouth. My sisters have a worse phobia than I do.

Welcome to the forum Frank_147. I have everything to make coils, however, I am just too lazy to try making any for Temp Control.

So does anyone on the porch vape black tea based liquid? I'm having to do my Earl Grey Tea juice from black tea + bergamot and the two brands of black tea that I have (Flavors Express and Flavour Art) just aren't resembling tea.

So I'm wondering if they just need more steeping than my Nature's Flavors Earl Grey Tea did? But that doesn't make much sense. I've tried going higher and lower on the flavoring amounts, but they seem to stay dry (high tannins?) and bitter. I haven't actually added any bergamot yet since I generally try out the flavors separately first and then combine and tweak.

Rocking avatar, Frank. Who is it? We love pets here.

It’s also been a while since we gave out the standard warning to new members. We love new porchers to pull up a rocker and sit for, well, forever. Just be wary if Iffy offers you a seat cushion because it will either be a whoopee cushion or pincushione’s sneaky that way. Don’t rile up Deb or she’ll come after you with her frying pan. If you lose some kanthal, Robert can always find, albeit with his ..... Weigh the pros and cons carefully before you let it get away from you.

Four months in is fantastic! Are you still in a state of disbelief that you were able to quit? I still am. I smoked 43 years and tried everything I heard of to quit. None worked, some were a physical disaster, one a mental disaster (welbutrin, but it could have been worse according to other people’s descriptions—over the moon I never tried chantrix). I was extremely desperate to quit and had been for literally decades.

Engineering background? You’ve kinda hit nirvana with vaping. There’s a number of people on ECF with scientific backgrounds that do some great debating here.

Would you mind posting a link to your thread in the New Members section? I’d like to read it and am sure others would also. People on ECF are very supporting of one another. It’s really a wonderful place. There is also the Back Porch which is non-vaping chat. Link to the current last page https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/f...d-vaping-back-porch-part-four.696281/page-181 I can’t keep up with both but it’s also populated with one of the most fantastic groups of people on the forum. Oh! They also have a live chat room also. Someone will give you the link. I haven’t been able to get on , but by all accounts, bar none, they have a most excellent time.

Meant to mention I have an extreme phobia of dentists too, with good reason. One actually straddled me in the chair, used his forearm to pin my shoulders and reamed the needle into my cheek. It was excruciating. That's one of three. I know the majority of them aren't bad and I need to get over my self pitying self. The one I went to see this time said he'd spent $6,000 trying to diagnose his 3yo labs limp. That's my kind of dentist. :)

I wish I could help. Maybe Slots can? Have you tried extracting from actual Earl Grey tea that you like? Wish I could be of more help, Amoret. :(

The POM is my wife's third one. This guy's name is Gizmo & he is about 3. 5# and thinks he is about 50 lbs around other dogs till they get close! Then he wimps out. Working on the link.
Yeah, they're like that. Thank you.

As you all can probably see, still adding stuff and feeling (learning) my way around here. Great place to be so far, lots of folks with stories very like mine, except I feel very lucky to be still kicking after all those years of smoking and at my age! Actually started smoking at age 14 and just celebrated my 74th last month! Talk about "beating the odds"!

I just ordered a cheap TC Mod, which (of course) caused me to read about how the TC stuff works...THAT got me into some talk about the nickel wire and safety therein.....I use both Kanger subtanks already (mini and plus) and Kanger does the NI200 prebuilt coils for them, so that looks like the best bet for me. They are kinda expensive though, at least compared to rebuilding on the Kanger deck that comes with the tanks. Knowing the way I am, will probably do a couple of Nickle coils just to see if I can, and wick them properly. Of course, then I am also looking at mixing some hi vg 3mg juice.....that's what makes all this so interesting........anyone with a couple of good non-tobacco flavored formulas that are relatively easy to mix? $20 + is pretty steep in my book for just a few MG.

Good to have ya join us, Frank!

Asking if anyone has any good joose formulae is kind of like asking if anybody wants dessert. You'll get plenty of good suggestions but one thing that's pretty certain is how individualized each person's preferences are. The decision to make your own joose is one you will never regret, and you will save boatloads of money compared to buying premade joose. Generally speaking, it costs less than $0.10 per milliliter to DIY.

Me, I like to use FlavourArt flavorings because FlavourArt is one of the manufacturers who has done testing of their flavorings for diacetyl and AP. (I can't recall at the moment what AP stands for.)

I love FlavourArt Orange flavor, using it at about 8%. It's great all by itself, or with 1% of menthol, spearmint or wintergreen flavoring added.

Regarding nickel coils, some of us have abandoned nickel already and are using other materials. I'm having real good luck with titanium and will try stainless steel 304 as soon as my order arrives from Fasttech that I placed 23 days ago. My experiences with nickel coils did not produce a satisfactory vape. I'm convinced that temperature control is the logical future of vaping.

As one of our newer porch regulars has discovered, proper wicking of a coil is as important as making a good coil in the first place.

Unless you have above-average dexterity and eyesight, I highly recommend getting a CoilMaster or other good coil-making jig. For me it has made the difference between making sloppy, poorly functioning coils and making excellent coils with relative ease.

If you want recommended sources for any items, we'll be happy to oblige. Just give a holler.
