Hello all,
My name is Mike and I don't think I ever really did an intro!
I've been around this thread for about four months. I try and read most of the posts and jump in when I think I might be able to help someone out with a new toy or two.
I smoked for close to 40 years 1+ pad and picked up a cig a like close to 2 years ago. Switch back and forth between that and smokes for a couple of months till I decided that the e cig would work. I found out that ECBlends was a couple of miles down the road from me from lurking on this forum and scored and Ego battery and a cleromizer and some juice I could live with. I then became a full time vaper and never looked back! I kept lurking and learning on the forum and you tube. I stepped my game up to Evods and a pro tank. I still couldn't find the right juice though. Started ordering online from different venders till I found a couple I liked. Finally decided that I should join the forum that had helped me so much to get started. I bought a ProVari because I like to buy US made and it was said to be the best. I liked it! Decided to try a mech mod and that new Kayfun lite thing from Germany. At that time I had to order it in from the UK. I liked it too. This vaping thing is getting better! Let me try that Russian 91%! Oh, I like the looks of that Stingray. That Celtic mod looks nice. What, another Stingray cool. I need one of those. Drippers sound cool, dual coil Patriot looks nice, oh, I like that origin. Someone said those Taifun GTs have great flavor. Got to see what that new Erlkonigins all about. DIY juice, that's the ticket. P3 ProVari looks cool. Wow the P2.5s are on sale. A Kayfun V4 WOW, INeed one of those new shiny things and it has a P3 hybrid connection, cool.
The bottom line is, I'm smoke free for about 2 years now. I don't remember my quit date. Never wrote it down and can remember at this point. This is just the path I took and by no means has to be yours! It's a hobby for me now. I like the newest and greatest that lands in my wheel house. I'm retired by the grace of the VA and this fills my time and emptys my pockets.
I'll be 57 in 6 days
My wife vapes to but I get to do all the work, she has a job!

OMG! I remember getting up each morning and coming to the porch to see if you found the cat yet in the burned out house. Was so glad to hear you finally found her.

Yep, she's sitting on my arm right now "helping" me type. Still the original scaredy cat, though. My grandson thinks she's a figment of our imaginations, since he's never actually seen her.

You did help a lot Mek. It was alot easier then I thought it was going to be just as easy as the KFL. Now ever used Ethyl Malto to sweeten. I ordered some TFA Cotton Candy which I assue is Ethyl Malto how much do you use per say 10ml?
I just checked though my recipes and it ranges from 2-7% but I use other sweet things at the same time like vanillas and creams so it migh vary more than that. It also depends on what your trying to sweeten with it, and yes it is Ethyl Malto desolved, I think 10% in PG

Ethyl Maltol I usually use at 1-2% as a sweetener, 3-5% as a modifier. At the 3-5% and above range it will change flavor.
I guess its all in what your mixing up. Most of my stuffs at about 30% flavor and the rest nic and VG
This is my ADV
10% Cinnamon Danish
6% Bavarian Cream,
10% Cotton Candy
3% LA Cream Cheese Icing

Hello older front porch folks :) ... Renewing my subscription to this new thread ... While I can't keep up with y'all ... I do try to at least get a few pages of chatter scanned here and there.

A new thread needs an OLD picture ... so much has changed for me since then!

We've had people say that about Mt. Rainier :)

And for all the new old friends, we also have a back porch http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-back-porch-part-2-a-871.html#post14819613
where we're free to stray off the vaping topics, so join us in back for more fun and games, too! :)

Nice collection! Really nice pictures. What is the one on its side in the front? Don't think I've ever seen one like that before.

Beautiful day here in NC, gonna go up to the low 60s. Bet it's going to be downright hot in S Florida.<br />
<br />
I thought about ordering the $30 Tobeco clone of the Kayfun V4 but what stopped me is that I would not like less capacity than I have with my Nautilus tanks.<br/>

Can't say about South Florida yet.. We ain't got there yet. I am wide awake at 3:30 am. Probably be letting Doree drive this morning as I am not sleeping again.

Thanks for the house warming party on the new porch. Ya'll are making it a success.
Thanks for getting it started Mike, and for all the good memories.

This is most of my current collection:

although the Lemo and the IStick aren't there, or all the other "stuff" that goes with vaping and building.... :)
That's some nice scenery there David.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that owns more than they can use
Well ... it IS a hobby (now)

Great pictures, .. looks "homey"

Glad to see everyone straggling in. Couldn't find my "intro"
Welcome to the new faces joining us ,, your not "strangers', your new friends. :toast:
Everyone talking about their anniversary just reminded me that my 2 years was yesterday.
I quit on my non-smoking husbands birthday, and all thoughts were on heckling his ol'bod ..forgot all about mine
Looking forward to hitting 15000 next Christmas .. great way to welcome a new year, looking back on a fantastic year spent with friends, and forward to another one.

What a great place for this cranky old man to end up. I previously posted on the forum about the need to find a bridge between the older and younger vapors. It was here all the time! I ended 59 years of pipes and cigars in May. Have found a comfortable chair on the porch and plan to sit a spell.

I see no one else has really hit on this one, so I will start out with the usual forum thread warnings:
Stay on vaping topics in this thread
for off-topic, you can go to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/520776-older-folks-vaping-back-porch-part-2-a.html where we maintain a nice back porch.
If we drift too far off topic, the admittedly very NICE Moderators will close the thread or move it into the lounge.
they were very forgiving the past couple of weeks in Part 2.

try not to double-post.

there are three "buttons" at the bottom of every post that will help you avoid doing it.

posts.jpg

Button 1: general reply to the thread
Button 2: Quote just that post
Button 3: Mark this post for multi-quote

number 3 means that you can click as many posts as you like, then hit the "Reply to thread" at the bottom, and they are all added in for you to reply to all in one post.

boring stuff done.

Here is my story:
I started smoking a bit over 30 years ago when I joined the Army. Smokers got two extra breaks back then.
After Basic Training, I switched to a pipe because I liked the flavor better.
Then after 25 years, I was waking myself up with that wheezing sound you get lying on your side and had to sit up and cough really hard to clear it out.
I started looking to quit or switch to something else. Heard about e-cigs, but e-pipes were expensive and didn’t work well. October 2012, I started finding ones I could try without breaking the bank or the epipe. I got a 601-c in the mail on Friday November 2. Put my analogue aside and vaped until Sunday night. I then noticed that I was using a LOT of juice and would need to re-order a sample pack within a week. So I figured, I will just try the pipe again so I know I have something to fall back on if the liquid runs out.
I took two puffs of the pipe, carefully set it aside and went online to learn how to make my own e-liquid.
Tobacco tasted more of the tar and ash than the flavor I fell in love with 30 years ago. I have not smoked since and have not felt the need to.
