I've luv'd your avi throughout both years; one of my favs!

What. A great place for this cranky old man to end up. I previously posted on the forum about the need to find a bridge between the older and younger vapors. It was here all the time! I ended 59 years of pipes and cigars in May. Have found a comfortable chair on the porch and plan to sit a spell.

Hello older front porch folks :) ... Renewing my subscription to this new thread ... While I can't keep up with y'all ... I do try to at least get a few pages of chatter scanned here and there.

A new thread needs an OLD picture ... so much has changed for me since then!

And... a porch picture...

Nice collection Ty. I should gather mine up for a group shot, but then Janet will really get a look of all my gear and ban more purchases.

oh, and you 2nd picture. Had a hard time scrolling past that one. Just kept looking at it and taking another sip of coffee. Nice one. Very Nice.

Everyone talking about their anniversary just reminded me that my 2 years was yesterday.

Congrats Slots! What new shiny thing to you buy to celebrate?

Well golly gee - we've been here waiting for you. Nice to have you join the group.

Welcome to our new porch! Glad you found vaping and glad you found us.

Today is my 2 year vapeaversary! After 40 years of smoking, the last 20 years struggling to quit, 2 years ago I decided to try an ecig. I bought a Blu from a drugstore and thought "this could work!". At the time I was only smoking about 1/2 PAD but it was 1/2 PAD too much. Google is my friend. I joined ECF and spent literally hours reading. I purchased a VV ego kit and never looked back. I now have several mods from Vamos to MVPs to iSticks and more. I use mostly EVOD/protank style clearos that I rebuild. I tinker with some DIY and have a lot of tobaccos I have extracted. I subscribe to several threads I actively participate in. have seen this thread before but just never got involved. Tonight as I read I decided to join this wonderful group of vapers who continue to help and support each other. I look forward to reading your posts and participating where I can.

Vape long and prosper. Peace and long vape.

Hey, I forgot to congratulate you on 2 years of not smoking!

I started looking. Since bigbells and I were born in the same month, I looked for him, too.

3/8/13 Evidently he is just a tad older than me.

Thanks for finding my introductory post, Omg. That isn't an easy assignment Mike gave us, and I still haven't been able to find that post in my posting history.

I turned 63 in August.

DingerCPA! Welcome to the porch and the world of vaping! Lot's of good people here who are more than happy to lend their support on your journey. There's so many choices out there so there's something for everybody, but it can be overwhelming. You'll find lots of help here to help sort it all out.

Wow, lots of new peeps! Ain't it great!

Hi :blush:

Robin here. I have read a bit of the 'Porches' threads here and there.
I love the camaraderie that you all share and I do know quite a few of you from your postings throughout the forum. :)
I think it is easier for new people to join when the new thread starts....not so much to go through from the beginning.

I use a P3 and KFL+. I am a minimalist in the respect when it comes to vaping. I even have one liquid that I use daily. I used the eGo twist and vivi nova combo when I first started...wow over two years ago. Got my first ProVari as a Christmas present from my never smoked husband two short months after I knew vaping actually worked.

I used the ProVari and Nova combo for years and heard about how long coils last on the kayfun. Even though I would have to learn how to build a coil, it sounded like it would be worth it, seeing how long it could last with just switching out the wick. Upgraded to the P3 when it came out and that is where I am now. I don't see me trying anything else for a very, very long time.

Well, that's my story.

Hi :laugh:

I wondered how that third button worked! Thanks, Ken :D
It was mentioned in the first thread, and not in the second, I think.
This way, we have it all in the first 10 pages :). Glad you find it helpful!

And it will work across pages in the same thread, too. Nice feature :)

While I don't think vaping is a smart thing for non-smokers to do, and while it may be a long stretch down memory lane for most of us here, "kids will be kids" and will always be wanting to try new things. How many of us snuck smokes from mom and dad? Probably better for them to sneak a vape! (Of course, I don't expect any of the ants to accept that...)

Just one little question.... if he's never smoked, is he pickled or kippered? :laugh:

Have rarely seen him pickled, kippered... not quite sure what that is ;)

How about just a good guy that didn't see any reason to start? He never was around smokers. I know, shocking right?

I just sat and read the restart posts. I started with the second porch. Nice to see it has been refurbished. I can see some momentos hung for those that have passed on. I am grateful for a comfortable place to sit in a rocker. Today is day 365 and I feel good.

I'm only 52, but deployed a lot of times. Just came back from Afghanistan. I kept up...but, soaked my feet a few times.

Anyway, its a great hobby and my doctor said, "good".

Hope to be there...
Welcome back Frenchfry! Thank you for your service! Now grab a comfy seat & your favorite set up, put your feet up & get some R&R. You deserve it!

    Guess I should check in, loved the old posts Mike. That was a great way to start the new thread.

    I've felt from the start that if I didn't try it ... I'd never know if I liked it. Strangely enough, I'v found as many ways to vape that I didn't like as I've found that I did. And hell, at 73 I only suffer from halftimers. Had no more than assumed my rightful position on the throne this morning, and the light on my Provari starts blinking! :lol: Forgot to put a fresh battery in ANYTHING yesterday.

    I see that I did say "I'm not going to be rebuilding coils or getting into diy juice" but now I am making my own liquids. In large part due to the fact that I can't open the childproof bottles that pretty much everybody uses now. I'm still never going to be able to make my own coils, though, since I can't do any kind of fine hand work anymore.
    Don't give up on it Amoret, I used to hand quilt, & do applique. It was very theraputic for me. I had to give it up when my fingers on my right hand began to take a right turn, & the joints too messed up. I can still use them for many things, but not for quilting. I've been really depressed for 5 years because I so loved my hand work. I'm going to try building my own. Not investing a lot into it yet, because I don't know if I'll be able to, but I'm going to try. I have some tricks that I learned while quilting to help me get a good grip on the wire, drill bits & small tools that I think will help.

    Has anyone else had a problem with first a whole bunch of unwanted websites, which I think I fixed and having to log in everytime.

    No, no problems here, Legs. Sounds like you got hit with a browser "hi-jack." Depending on the browser, the ways to eliminate it vary. But start by updating your anti-virius and doing a FULL DEEP scan of your entire computer. (That can take quite some time.) Then check your browser's add-on and such, and maybe clear it's cache, check the cookies.

    Even though I don't post very often, I just had to come to show how happy I am that so many new residents have joined the porch.

    I'm still keeping it simple sweet, cause it works!

    Mike, what an excellent intro to Part Three!

    Just so I still feel part of the group, here is my first post back in 6/29/2012:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Well, this place is just too friendly not to post!
    I've been reading most of your posts for quite awhile now and since I am 72, I definitely fit into the category of 'older' folks!
    I've been vaping since April '09 and with my first vape, I was sold. I have a friend in Altamonte Springs who was kind enough to let me experience vaping while at lunch one day. Of course I had to give the battery back to her after we were done eating!
    I got in the car to go home and lit a cigarette and I couldn't finish it. It tasted so......dirty.....went home got online and ordered my kit. I had smoked those nasties since I was 22.......that's 47 years! OMGoodness, just typing that, it seems incredible.
    I've been using 808s since the beginning, and I've been very satisfied. I get good t/h, good vapor and good flavor...at least most of the time. I know I'm probably in the minority when I say I love the 808s, but I like it simple sweet.
    It was DonDaBoom who recommended the Volt last August, and have been using their products ever since.
    Lately, I've been sort of peeking at all the other stuff that can be had, but I simply have too much 808 gear to switch, so when I bought the Phoenix, I did get adapters, and now am using the 808 Phoenix. They're OK, but I feel the flavors are a bit muted.
    I'm waiting for SI to have their 30% sale tomorrow starting at 6pm and will get the newer X2. I have SIs clearomizers also, and while I love the style, it does have its weaknesses. Glad I only got three of them.
    Oh wow, when I start yapping, I have a hard time stopping.........so, am stopping now!
