I just go with sweats and thick handknitted socks myself. ;)

On the vaping side have any of you wonderful DIY folks tried to come up with a variant of hawk Sauce or Thug juice? I am working on it.

For Thug juice I am getting close with a blend of Watermelon, 2 different grapes and a touch of menthol but there is just something missing.

Hawk Sauce I am still trying to identify what I taste in it. Blueberry I think and either blackberry or raspberry (or both?) but again there is something else. Cranberry maybe?
I found the perfect match for Hawk Sauce... I get the flavoring direct from MBV... And just add PG, VG, and Nic to taste. :)

I've only been off the smokes for a week this morning. But the first 2 hrs of the day are hard for me. Once I get past that, I'm all good.

So I don't have any cigs in the house or I would get 1 or 2 or 3 in the morning. To avoid that, I just don't have access to them.

I vape hard in the morning with my coffee, but it keeps me off the analogs. :)

You might try a higher nic first thing in the morning? As far as having ciggies around, I had to keep my 1/2 pack around "just in case". Otherwise I'd panic. After 2 years I have absolutely no temptation at all even if I'm at a party with a lot of smokers. I just vape away and then answer questions. Mike has a couple 2 year old unopened packs stashed away for our contractor friend who comes over. When he runs out of his smokes and wants to leave Mike just pulls out one of the old packs. The friend doesn't seem to care and if it keeps him working...

I would like to go one step further and ask that we have our own sub-forum so we can have threads on specific topics.

I think on the main ECF page there are tons of specific topics. One of the things that drew me to this thread was that we deal with things as a topic comes up. No searching for a topic, we just throw it out there. I've gotten to know the people here so somebody I know (or several) will chime in with answers or suggestions.

You know what is funny is I stayed out of the Older people 55 and Up thread for a long time because well...being one of the younger ones on this thread I don't qualify.

You guys have been so kind letting me join here that I didn't want to push it. FOr those that don't know Birthday 49 this month. SO yeah I am one of the kids in this thread.

Oh wow! Don't let the 55 concern you at all! Everybody is welcome! It's just that our thread is mostly made up of people who have had a chance to steep for awhile and the flavor doesn't necessarily appeal to the youngsters. No matter what your age though, if you like the company, pull up a rocker and your favorite vape!

I had to trick myself to finally beat that one.

STRONG menthol juice... check
BIG mug of coffee....Check
HOT outside at 5 am...Check

I literally kept my old routine just used a strong menthol juice instead of my cig. When we hit the part of summer where it is 95 degrees outside with 80% humidity early in the morning the habit broke.

This I know about, I live in Nawlinz ( Kenner for those who know Nawlinz)

I don't understand people wanting food so hot their face turns red and they start sweating, but some people love the stuff. I wonder if the people who love the mega throat hit like hot foods too. On the other hand, I got sick when I started smoking, but that didn't stop me from becoming a smoker for 45 years. The nice thing about vaping is everyone can find what they like and it still works. Amazing.

I luv food with a ZING but I prefer a medium to low TH I eat 2 times a day but Vape ALL day ;)

Could I make a suggestion to the forum moderators -- I know there are 2 different 55+ sites, and one is for social chatting and one is for more specific vaping stuff -- is there any way to incorporate that detail in the titles?

I find my threads by seeing who posted to threads I'm subscribed to, and it's a bit confusing for me to remember which thread is which -- I don't want to be guilty of going off-topic on the wrong thread. Whaddy'all think, would this be a good/doable idea?

And Bunnykiller, fwiw on that morning cig holdover, I agree with Mike that it's not to be sweated. But fwiw I did learn that the way for me to do the complete switchover was to just not have cigarettes in the house. I've been to the local cigarette store many times since not buying them anymore (like .. for trying to get a refund for the EGO I bought my son whose battery died) .. and I could have bought more if I wanted to, but had no temptation. Instead spent my time in the cig store talking to other customers who chimed up saying "oh, e-cigarettes, how ARE those? I've been trying to quit, etc etc"

For me, the thing that dead-STOPS me from buying a pack of cigs ever again is that overwhelming awareness that the first thing you know, if you're smoking cigarettes, is that YOU NEED ANOTHER PACK. Or another carton. All the time, too OFTEN. It aggravated me. With vaping, I've got my stock of e-liquids and my backup of backup-or-two PVs. I just do not run out, and I don't have to worry about running out. Makes me happy :)

Im pretty impressed with myself on getting this far into ciggie reduction but what is going to top it off is when I go into any store and not purchase a pack... thats when I know I have no need for the ciggies any more... and that seems to be a REALITY very soon

I get the urge to buy vendor juice at least once a year and in the end I always prefer my own DIY:)

I am considering to do DIY juices, even went to myfreedomsmokes and did a wishlist but im looking at 200$ for VG, flavors ( 5 of them), nic juice, measuring devices, bottles, etc is it worth it?? the experimentation, the time to find the right taste, the waste of material in case the mix is wrong?
I was into Research and Development/Project management and know prototyping is Extremely costly, considering this, this new aspect would fall under R&D, thus a position for high cost potential if failure occurs.

Do I dare ( take the challenge, no pain no gain attitude) or think this thru and rely on the experience of others to guide me in the correct direction ( right direction is personal)....
Damn I think too much but thats just me...

One trick to prototyping ejuicr is just very small batches. Like 1 mL size with no nic. Then when you get something you like move to adding nic (still in 1 mL size) and tweaking. When you have the blend right then do bigger batches. The Nic is the most expensive part really.

This is what I started DIY with. The DIY Flavor Artisan's Master Kit - One Stop DIY Shop Store
Start saving yur juice bottles now. Just wash them and tuck them away. THen when you need bottles you have them.

Also on that site in thier Video section is a nice introduction to the process of DIY.

THese days I buy my Nic from myfreedom smokes and everything else from Perfumers Apprentice - The Flavor Apprentice - World of Flavors

I think it was this forum on the topic of "what do you call your device"
and some one replied its a "Personal Electric Nicotine Inhalation System"

Imagine the Conversation:
OHH whats that you have in your hand??
Its my P.E.N.I.S.
Do you like it?
Yes I do I use it all the time
How Often do you use it?
As much as I can. I get quite a bit of relief when I use it.
When you are driving your car, what do you do with it?
Well most of the time I keep it in my hand, other than that I keep it safely between my legs.
When do you use it the most?
At night when watching TV, I hold it consistantly then.
When your done with it, what do you do with it then?
I put it away and zip it up safely in its pouch.
What kind of problems do you have with it?
Sometimes it gurgles/spits and leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth.

Shame on me ... this can go way too far... hope this passes by the mods

just the humor in English Language and its idocyncricies ( cant spell worth a poop)

Too funny! My son and I have already had this conversation numerous times in the last couple weeks. Always makes me laugh when he asks me how 'mine' is, since I had told him about the "Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System". Always the 1st question when he calls, "How's your P.E.N.I.S.?"
Obviously not too many son's can talk like that to their mom, but we're tight. :) And he has a great sense of humor. :) And is very proud of me for loosing the analogs, no matter what I call it. :)

Anticipation? Wha... oh... ya mean da joose... never mind!

only thing i can figure out is
if you shake it before use you "excite the fluid a tad"
Therefore you will be excited when you use it????

no idea?? does the juice settle during shipment or storage??

makes one wonder

I've read that there are certain flavors that might separate when sitting. Of course I've read so much I can't tell you which flavors they are. Plus shaking is always good for juice, can't shake too much especially if it's fresh.

This is my first time posting here and I guess my age of being over 55 means I am allowed to post here.
The reason for shaking juice is that the ingredients do not stay mixed very well. I retired from the Pharmaceutical industry and liquid drug products have to be developed so they stay in "solution", which means they do not separate after mixing. The juice we use in our vaping does not stay in "solution".
I shake my bottles once daily while they are steeping and always before filling my tanks.

Great explanation and welcome to da 'technical ol' farts' porch! BTW, there's no ID check here, as evidenced by several posts above.

Myrany and I have different DIY philosophies. Actually, I would guess most DIYers do their own thang. Just consider the diffs with every ones' t-buds!

But here are a few of my DIY thoughts:

- 5ml minimum test recipes for moi. Anything less can be a 'bear' to measure/adjust.

- My nic costs $0.07 ml. Why go through the trouble to tweak a recipe to your taste and then add nic which may affect the flav?

- Flavoring is the most costly ingredient. I prefer Vaping Zone Super Concentrate & Gourmet flavorings. Besides taste, one must also consider flav % (typically .5 - 20) per recipe per manufacturer in a cost per ml evaluation.

- MY MINIMAL DIY REQUIREMENTS (rationale in post).

'Nuff of dat fer now.

Now, for someone interested in DIY, consider buying a nic/pg/vg base and adding your own flavs. This isn't as cost effective as mixing with individual ingredients. BUT, it is definitely less ¢o$tly than premixed/off the shelf jooses. Plus you at least have partial control over what you vape.

I also highly recommend reading AND studying HOOSIER'S blog for flavoring guidance!

If ya do take da DIY step, be sure to take notes each time you grab a DIY ingredient bottle, especially flavorings!!!

In closing my post, if ya take da DIY step, be sure to take notes each time you grab a DIY ingredient bottle, especially flavorings!!!
