So Iffy, I spent last night in my vapin' shop listening to the wind and rain ... and working w/ the #500 SS mesh you sent me.

IMG_0685.jpg

The Z-Atty-Pro comes delivered with a small wick inside an insulator sleeve in the tank. I took the stock wick and insulator out. The original wick was only 15mm wide when unrolled and it fit loosely in the insulator (2.4mm I.D.) So I rolled a 100mm wick w/ the #500 SS mesh and it fit it into the wick hole without the insulator (~3mm). I probably could have rolled it w/ 120mm, there was enough room left for a fatter wick.

It's a really fat, thick wick. I did a 4/5 wrap with 32g Kanthal A1 and it came out to 2.6Ω. Normally on a thin wick a 4/5 wrap would be about 1.8Ω. So the fat wick takes more wire doing the same number of wraps. That's a stock wick laying on top of the atty.

IMG_0704-Version2.jpg

I pressed the 'fire' button and it just produced vapor for 20+ seconds w/o showing a sign of running out of juice. This thing really wicks. Increasing the wick from 15mm of rolled mesh to 100mm of mesh really sucks up the juice. I also found it takes a lot more volts to run it. Normally for a 2.5Ω atty, I'd be running at 4.2-4.2 volts and generate good vapor. Not sure why, but with this setup, I'm running 5.0-5.2 volts. Less than 4.5 volts and the vapor output is not good. between 4.8 & 5.2 it works well. At 5.5 volts the vapor is crazy, but I don't like it that warm.

IMG_0706-Version2.jpg

This setup is for intense vaping. You can take long double & triple back-to-back-to-back-to-back vapes and it doesn't run dry. Normal vaping is noticeably better too but not a quantum leap better. What's next?

  • Try a 3/4 wrap with 30g kanthal to lower the resistance and see if I can lower the running voltage. Don't really like running at 5 volts, drains the battery faster
  • Try a 'smaller' fat wick. Roll maybe 50-60mm for a 2.4mm wick and use the insulator again. I'm thinking this might work just as well for normal vapin'. I don't have to look like a steam locomotive, although it's fun pushing out all that vape.
  • Then with the 2.4mm wick try 32g & 30g Kanthal with different wraps.

Oh-oh, one thing I did notice after going through the 1st tank of juice. The juice doesn't get 'no where' near as dark. I'm thinking the 'carmelized' juice just doesn't leach back down the fat wick into the tank and dis-color the juice may it just stays in the fat wick and gets used up on the next vape. Usually the last 1/4 of the tank is a lot darker than fresh juice. This was an unexpected benefit.

Yep, they just use an A for R and n for m like I thought. lol oh yeah and u for v. Once you figure out the lingo it isn't quite as confusing.
Po for Wattage or Power- dA for resistance and du for voltage and do for loaded voltage. lol:blink:

I wonder if it makes any sense within the Japanese language? Or electrical engineering jargon?

No I think it just the type of led or whatever makes the letters can't make R or V or M.

I was just wondering because even on the ProVari "AO" is the menu option for ohms check. The other options do make sense

Pu - (power) voltage up
Pd - (power) voltage down
Cb - check battery
Ao - check ohms
Lo - led on/off

Thanks Muldemar, Too bad the Chinese didn't simply put that in their pamphlet. lol
I spent 4 hrs at the VA today and managed to figure them all out except for #8
There are two to choose from on #8 ANS or NEA. Do you know which is which? I would guess ANS is RMS because an R kind of resembles an A and N is close to M in the alphabet.

It is getting a little better now that I figured out the Watt or power setting so all I will need most of the time is just P up or down.

Have you every got one (which is rare) that is understandable!! 8-o

Night all

Some of my clearos will get cloudy after I soak them in hot water. Did you boil them Kico?
No boiling - just stuck em in a cup and hit the small cup option on my Keurig! (I think it's set at 195 degrees tho???)
Umm - LOL - I ferget - what's boilin temp???

Hey Kico..was getting worried about you:(
I read somewhere MBV Carmel apple eats tanks..
I dumped mine out, that I had in a tank..and it wasn't etched..But wasn't in there that long..
I have a friend that gets PG from a tractor supply store..Pays around $20/gal..
Personally I would use the $24/gal..Im sure the difference in price is 1 is more refined..
I made a small batch of BG..Its getting there..still have to tweak it more..
Im discovering what you like to eat or drink..Isn't always a flavor you would like to vape..
I dont like candy canes or those round swirly candies you get at a restaurant..
I Got in a bottle of peppermint flavoring,By mistake..So made up a small batch of peppermint joose..
And....I like it ..go figure:lol:
Oh Muldemar - your a sweet pea! I believe you hit the nail on the apple. I happen to put some MBV Caramel Apple in one of the other tanks and it's gettin' cloudy (2 days). I'm also wondering about the Ice Menthol ... appears it MAY be doing so as well. Wonder if their juice flavors are oil based?
Vape Flavors: boy did I find that true with the Turtle Cheesecake & Raspberry!

PG: I was wondering the same thing (quality) - the labels read as being identical. Go figure ... Sounds like something used to apply to a cow - says do not ingest. Wasn't plannin on drinkin it tho ... :D

Just mixed my own version of Extreme Ice..turned out goooood:D
Mixed a RY4 too..but letting that set for a few days..

good-night-4.jpg

What did you use for the Extreme? That RY4 - is that the same as the recipe you sent??? Holy cats! That's a lot of mixing!

Well I ruined my first coil Saturday. I took it apart and was suprised that it was completely covered with a brown crust. I chipped some off and checked it out and it's sugar. I had been letting my nova run down to about half empty before filling it up. The wicking system might work but it allows the crystals to build up on the coil if the ejuice is sweet. I was useing a 50/50 mixture with 2.4 ohm head at 4.3 volts. I now have to clean the nova every other day to keep this from happening. Maybe I should have been cleaning it more often. I can't wait till the T3s get here. I think with a bottom feeder it should keep the coil submurged and I can use it a little more before cleaning. I'll still have to keep an eye on the voltage. I should have been listening to ya'll a little closer. I'm learning the hard way.
Be care in the "chipping"! Or you'll want to preview how to put them back together!
From what y'all have said here on the forum - it has to be the sweet juice that messes up the coils. I prefer sweets and feel like I'm constantly needing to clean / dry burn. I have 4 in rotation. The vivi's sure are easy to clean! Interesting observation on the build-up vs submersion ... My very favorite is a dark coffee flavor ...

Oh - if I can dry burn - you can! It sounds 'scary' at first - but once you do ... eazy peazy!

I think Mike said that putting a VERY thin layer of cotton over them helps keep them clean.
I'm undecided if it helps much at this point. Part of the problem is my habit of "tweaking" the juice and "shaking" to mix - I lost a bunny tail!
Not sure if it will make any difference - thot next time I have a fresh new one I'll try doing the cotton "roll" and make sure to clean it after one use to see if there is any difference. I think that's where I may have had less gunk to burn off.

I think the Vivi Nova is the easiest to dryburn of all the clearos I've used. It will burn all the sugar gunk off in a couple of minutes. There are some good videos on dryburning if you haven't tried it yet.
My Vivi Novas last for months. In fact I haven't had to throw away a coil head yet. I don't use many dark or sweet juices though so I'm sure that makes some difference. I use mostly menthol 70/30 PG/VG though and it doesn't gunk them up as quick as other juices.
Does your menthol have any tobacco flavor in it? If not - is it a DIY or where do you get (flavor name) it? Last for months? You mean the coil too??? (yippeeee! I hope! knockin' on wood - so far so good!)

Yep but mainly do my cinnamon. :)

I only load about about 25 at a time. I just wait until I get to the last 25 before I clean and do the dry burn.
(Bill Cosby voice) ... your serrrrriousss .... :D ( ... and I just thot she had a great stash of spares ... )

Perfumey taste to juice: could that phenomena be attributed to what you last ate? I noticed it with a juice I'd been vapin after a banana. It was fine before hand ...

Prayers have been with you Easterners ... wouldn't want to be in your shoes - no way - no how ... uh uhh.

I've been bummed out again. 2nd time sale fell thru. Now wondering if I'm going to have to give up my horse. I was afraid we were jumpin in too soon but let hubby's optimism override it. The dentist on Monday didn't help matters either. Too late to save it (sportin' stitches if ya know what I mean) Why bother trying to make healthy choices. Grrr!

Take care all ... (sorry for another novel. Need to learn how to do short stories!)

ETA: Wow! Like your shop there Mike!

Got me, no telling I guess, unless you talked to the engineer. It doesn't really matter after you understand their lingo. Looks like Provari would have gone with Co or cr for check ohms. Seems like they would have used Vu and Vd instead of P being as Power is measured in watts. Maybe the Provari can't make v's either. :)

Actually I just read some countries use u for voltage so you might be right. I forget these are made for the whole world.

Awesome write up with your usual excellent pics!

Looks like a vapor machine. That's impressive. Nice bennie with the juice color. I take it the coil has no center 'tube'. How many more wicks do ya think ya can make with what ya have left?

I need to gather some patience and give the 500 a try. Just haven't been in the mood to go MacGyver. Maybe with the cooler weather I'll spend more time inside.

Thanx for your report. Please keep us posted on your experiments. Again, awesome job!

The T3 I got developed a leak over night, it is not cracked and the leak is not bad....yet. I left a cinnamon juice in it over night, I know cinnamon juices have a tendancy to cause leaks and cracks. I have use the same cinnamon juice in a T2 for about 2 months with no leaking or cracking, I have left it standing up and laying on it's side.

Do you use vinegar in your mix?

Hmm… I ordered a T3 and a Vivi mini last night from litecig.
Hopefully my leaky tank issues end, my Lambo came in and
I'm stuck with dripping for now.

I feel your pain, my clearo konked out and leaked all over my KGo after 3 fills. My Big Vivi
leaked out my Alice in Vapeland juice in a big puddle last week. It's frustrating.

I was told some silicon paste might be the fix.

I got one that started leaking on the bottom and I used household silicon on it and it stopped.

I will try the silicon, but I really didn't see an improvement over the T2 so I will stick with those. I do use vinegar in my cinnamon juice. And lemon juice in my blueberry honey and iffys blueberry pear.

I think vinegar will dissolve silicon.
