Just an heads-up, for those trying the Visions/Stardust/etc, save those lil' drip tip gaskets if you're gonna try the CE 5+ rebuildables in da future. The latter has a pizz poor fitting gasket! The V/SD/etc gaskets fit soooo much better than the CE 5+ origs.

Good to know, I'll be sure to save them.

BTW, I've had no, nada, ziltch leaking with the SDs!

Maybe my purse is just bigger than yours!

Hi to all. Thought I should check in and tell you my first batch of DIY ain't half bad. I made a honey flu cured tobacco menthol using 50/50 at 12mg. Herself says it's too "bitter" so I've ordered some sweetner and will probably increase the VG in hers. I also got a sample of root beer from madvapes and I love it so I ordered some flavoring to roll my own.

I considered totaling how much I've spent on vaping since March and decided not to. It doesn't matter to me as long as I'm not smoking stinkies. Another thought I had really made my day. I am no longer paying the exhorbitant taxes that were levied against cigarettes "for my own good". Talk about taxation without representation. Well, up yours Mr./Ms. Legislator :vapor:

Well congrats on your DIY success! It's a great feeling and one I wish everyone could experience!

And you are right about the cost of vaping...as long as it isn't smoking! You know what "puzzles" me a lot? They tax the hell out of tobacco products to supposedly get people to stop, and use the money to fund all kinds of programs from education to health to you name it. So lets say everyone does what they supposedly want them to do and quit smoking. Who funds their programs then? Isn't it kind of dumb to create such a self defeating scenario? Or is it just a greedy ploy with no humanitarianism at all involved? Duh! That's a tough one, isn't it? Better yet, I recently read that when the actual rate of smoking was reduced drastically somewhere, some total dingbats had the moxie to complain that their funding had been drastically reduced too! Gee, now, i wonder why??? Ah, it makes me feel so secure about the people in charge, how about you? LOL

Well I've been vaping my new Apollo tank for about eight hours and I still have lots of juice left. It holds close to 6 ml. It has vaped very good all day without any leaks or dry hits. I really like the unique design and is shaped like the Apollo space capsule with chrome bottom and top with about a 3/8 inch clear window in between so you can see how much juice is in it. The pictures on DV's site don't do it justice and is cooler looking than the pics at least to me anyways! I hope it keeps working this good and I will be a happy camper. Some people are reporting muted flavor but to me it is very similar to the other clearo type cartos. I use pretty strong juices like Menthol and Cinnamon so as long as I don't get any burnt taste I'm happy. E2 Apollo Tank

I'll have to check out the F-4315 first I've heard about it. I have a DSE601 Pipe too and it is a very nice looking pipe. I got the full kit on sale for 30.00 from DV. It is very similar to my tobacco pipe that I used to smoke. It has a very good auto system but you are limited to using their builtin atty and cartridges. I was pleasantly surprised to how good it vapes compared to all the negative repots on it. I probably wouldn't have bought it but just couldn't pass on it for 30.00 and I'm really glad I got it.
:tumble:

Tex, this is my second reply to this post. In the other one I said I would check with Azsmoke free. Didn't want to confuse matters by replying to my own post. I checked with Mike at azsmokefree. The F-4313 has a 900mah battery, which would last me all day, but the carto holds 1ml which doesn't compare well with the Echo which I belive holds 3ml. So I will probably opt for the Echo plus Kuwako for my new e-pipe. I may wind up getting the other later -- finances permitting. Azsmokefree now has it listed for $65.95. It sure looks like the DSE-601. I wonder how difficult/expensive it would be to convert the DSE-601 to cartomizers. Would the stem of the F-4313 fit the DSE-601? How is the battery connected in each?? Probably involve some rewiring. Oh well.

It is too bad they didn't make them a little more versatile so you could use different cartos. I thought about trying to combine the two but it would be more trouble than it is worth. I don't use my 601 a lot but I do enjoy puffing on it and relaxing with it at the end of the day. It has an awesome bowl and stem. I think the battery setup is the same but the 601 has the built-in Atty that can't be taken out as far as I know. When this one burns out I will find out. lol It is going to be a shame to have to throw away a beautiful Rosewood bowl because of a failed atty. Sure don't know what they were thinking when they designed it. Actually I don't think they were. lol

I think you can use a standard resistance 510 carto in the F4313. I'm kind of new at this, so I may be wrong. If there is any difference in length, I think the 510 may be slightly shorter. I read one post that mentioned using an LR510-T atomizer and cutting the tank down to get more vaping between refills. However, my knowledge of tanks is rather limited at this point

I'm sure hoping my next batch of CE4s from DV are all like the 2nd one I tried. Been using it 3 days now and it's working perfectly. I still like the CE3s but being able to fill at the office from a bottle is a huge plus. I think maybe I'm done for a while hardware wise when this week's orders come in. I'll have a good supply of batteries, cartos, clearos, and juice on hand. I also started to make the transition to a lower nic level this week. My latest order from ECBlends was all 18mg, down from the 24mg I have been using. I'll probably stick to the 24mg for work and use the 18mg at home where I vape constantly. I used 18mg this morning and I had to hit the PV hard to feel satisfied - no analog craving though...

Raidy posted about his new creation and explains it. That the one I mentioned before here.

It is post 2307 but can't miss it. Pretty long:)

Wow - now that's an amazing leap in how a PV works. Using a micro sized sensor to measure barometric pressure and auto-magically adjust the vape to the strength of the draw. My favorite part reading about it though, wasn't about the technology, it was this one about installing the sensor. "A genital surgery on an aphid would have been easier".

I found adding a little drop or 2 of lemon juice in the 555 and a drop or 2 of distilled water made a difference. At first my throat that I had a hot cigr I was pulling in. The lemon and water, lowered the nic a little but let my throat me happy.

Morning all
Thanks. I have an issue with mouth dryness. Like my present mix otherwise. I'll give the lemon juice a try.

There are a couple of threads regarding using biotene to help with mouth and throat dryness, as well as taste. Apparently it comes in gum, mouthwash, and a mouth/throat spray.

Thanks. I'll certainly check it out. No throat or taste problems, but mouth is extremely dry after extended vaping. My mother used to have the same problem after using her Nebulizer. Don't know what she used for it, and she's not around to ask.

On the mouth dryness.....several people in other threads have mentioned success using biotene for dry mouth. It comes in toothpaste, mouthwash, and a spray.

I too would like to thank Tex for starting this thread. Thanks, Tex. I am 72 years old, quit analogs cold turkey 35 years ago. Now I am vaping. I believe my personal history post on the Older People 55 and Up Thread is a little more detailed. Tex started that one too. Many of us have benefitted and are still benifitting from his experience. I am vaping zero nicotine. Any other zero nicotine vapors following this thread?

Be careful when taking the tip on/off of the Stardust types. There's a small clear o-ring/seal that can accidentally come out with the tip and is easy to loose. When that happens, it doesn't seem to leak but when you remove the tip there's a lot of juice on it.

Thanks, I did check and make sure it was still there. I had planned on ordering extras of these when I got the sd's and phoenix's, but they didn't have those updated and I was afraid they'd run out of phoenix's.

That's true, I did loose one of those rings, but since I use the Stardust a lot I do notice that if you hold it upside down you will get some juice leak out of any of them. Not much, just a little, but it doesn't taste good. That only rarely happens to me unless it ends up upside down in my purse or pocket.

I think this is what happened. It wasn't a lot, but as y'all know, it don't take a lot to be very unpleasant. It passes though. I don't know if the coils are wrapped too tightly so it doesn't wick as well right at the coil, but I get much better flavor if I tip it upside down before a draw. So now I'm just trying to make sure I don't tip it totally upside down. The first time was after church, and I'd put it in a pouch inside my purse, instead of standing it up in a pocket on the outside of my purse like I'd done before.

I have a friend who went from 12nic to 0 and is enjoying it a lot. I vape at 12 nic during the day, but 0 the last hour before I go to sleep. I'd heard and read that people shouldn't smoke before bed because it can disrupt sleep. Sleep was never a big problem for me, but it hasn't hurt either. I don't get any TH with 0 nic though, just lovely taste.

That is cool you vape 0 nic. I would like to get there myself.
I can't take any credit for starting the thread. It was originally started by Bluesman and then he closed it and I just reopened a new one. Then most of the same people continued on until it was transferred to the lounge because according to the moderators we were being more of a social group. I opened this one so we could talk more about vaping and remain in the main forum where new people could easily find us.
I will be 72 this year myself!:toast:

Yes that would be good to know, I've been having dry Mouth too...:p

Another thing that I have found that helps with dry mouth / throat is fresh fruits like watermelon, cantaloupe, pears, peaches and such. Something to do with the natural juices - it really works great and is healthy...
