2 PAD for 44 yrs and you completely quit within 2 months? You're a trooper Constance!
I smoked 1 PAD for 30 yrs and STILL am working on completely quitting after 5 months.

My wiring must be faulty.

Took me nearly 14 months of vaping. One day you will finally say ... enough. That's basically what I did. I could have gone forever having a few a day. You eventually have to tell your self that's it. You will do it eventually. I beat myself up the whole 14 months doing both. Looking back there was no need for that. Even doing both I was smoking 25 to 35 less cigarettes a day.

<snipped to highlight the best part of all> Encourage them, but don't push. Good luck.

That last part is so freakin' important, it can't be emphasized enough! (Mike always seems to cut to the chase, God bless 'im for all his help to so many)

You just can't brow-beat long-time cigarette addicts into quitting. Like any addict, a ciggy-addict has to come to the point of wanting it for him/herself. What's the old saying? "You can't help somebody who doesn't want to help themselves."

But! You can tell them they're still getting their nic-fix and doing it cheaper than smoking. (This is true unless vaping becomes a hobby ... and thank goodness for the vaper hobby folks ... they keep the rest of us informed of all the new stuff and improvements.) But at first, yeah, they can actually save money, and continue to do so if they don't get carried away buying everything available. The point there being, you aren't lying. (My mother always told me, "Fiz, don't tell everything you know." LOL)

Anyway, I encourage you to encourage them. They may surprise ya!

Nope, nothing faulty with you. Everybody handles it in their own time. The point is, vaping is taking the place of the cigarettes you would have been smoking so you're doing just fine. Hopefully at some point you'll decide you like the vaping better than the cigarettes which is what I've heard from a lot of people. Or maybe you never will, but vaping at least part of the time is definitely a harm reduction tool for you and that's a good thing.

You know it's a funny thing, I can't stand the ciggys but I have a couple usually in the morning
then I'm good to go, and sometimes at night. But they are becoming nastier each day.

My eVod got here today

Been vaping it a little while now and the flavor & vapor are nice. Waiting to see if it starts gurgling - I hope not! Then to see how long the coil will last and how easy/hard it is to clean etc. I read they can actually be re-built, so I will have to see what info I can dig up on that. Stuff sure looks like it would be extra teeny to work with in there though.

    It's really purdy too! :)

Can one of my wise friends here suggest a good PROTECTED batt for my 18650 mod? I'm using Sanyo 18650 - 2600mah & they're wonderful, but, not protected & that makes me a little nervous. I've never tried an IMR, they're supposed to be 'safer', but I really don't know much (if anything) about batteries....just that I want them to keep a loooong charge & safe. Is there such an animal?

If I had to describe in one word my conversion from smoking to vaping, it would be LIBERATING!!!

Natasha and any other new Texans, what part of our great state are you in? I'm smack dab in the middle, in Temple now but was in Harker Heights.

I really really think I want one of these! Looked at the video the other day, and again tonight and yes, I really want one!

Thing is, I just received my nic order from them the other day, and had I thought about it, would have included it. Too focused on getting my nic quota in!

A bit concerned about the unprotected 18650 battery though!

My SIL uses one of these and she likes it. They aren't bad at all, but I really can tell such a difference with vv that I just can't go back to non vv unless both my vv's broke. For you and Moishe, I don't nuttin bout batteries, but all the folks who do say the IMR truly is much better than any protected battery, it's a much safer chemistry, but I'm sure someone else can explain WHY that's true. I use the panasonics.

Like others said, don't feel a bit bad. I'm one that immediately quit smoking when I started vaping, but only out of stubborness. I was so involved in trying out all my vape stuff, suddenly realized it had been 4 hrs since I'd had a smoke.....thought that was such a great achievement and didn't wanna lose that 4 hours of stop time. lol Many times after that I wished I'd had more of a switch over time, cuz I had some very powerful cravings. Just in the last month or two I found a 24 mg nic juice that I can vape (all the other 24 mg I'd tried was too peppery) and now I finally feel satisfied with vaping. Full strength marlboro 1.5 ppd for 37 years was hard to give up.

amy you sure came to the right place. You already know you can't push, and if they aren't ones to get on the computer it's hard to say how to help, but it's so great that you want to try to help them. It's rough since you aren't close to them and they don't folks who vape. Maybe you could convert a friend of theirs first lol j/k

For those who were mentioning folks coughing when they try vape, my SIL only vapes a bit in the mornings sometimes then grabs her cigs. We did just recently realize that since she smokes ultra lights, she can't handle high pg because it gives way more of a throat hit. But she does great with high vg. So she's going to order some juice that is high vg. She can't even inhale high pg and I vape 70% pg.

Moishe would this work? You should be able to just copy/paste/google and see em :)

    Protected 3100mAh 18650 Li-ion Battery - Cell Panasonic NCR18650A

I am not 100% sure, but I believe that this battery is to long for the Joye 18650 Mod. The control module cannot screw all the way down. Even though they all say 18650 - not all 18650's are the same size. The protection circuitry makes them larger... If I remember correctly the 2600mah protected batt is the largest that will work. You might want to double check first before you order.

Iffy, I TOTALLY agree with you about the liberating feeling. And even after 17 months I still feel like that. A good friend was here for dinner tonight and he had to go outside to have a cigarette while I sat inside and vaped away. In warm weather I would have joined him, but it's 26 degrees out there!

And I also agree with you about the dancin' Snoopy expressing pure joy. I love watching the fawns romp in the back yard or our grand dog Izzy racing around out there - pure joy in motion! Makes me happy to even think about it.

    Really .. ?? You don't look a day over 39 .. Mike, you're a very lucky man .. ;)

Yes I am and appreciate it more every day. :hubba:

Aww, gosh Fizz, you're making me blush. thanks for the compliment.

And yeah, ain't it the truth - all through our smoking years we just shut-down/ shut-off anything and everything people said to us trying to get through to us about how bad it is to smoke. Cigarette addiction really is a nasty habit to break.

You know it's a funny thing, I can't stand the ciggys but I have a couple usually in the morning
then I'm good to go, and sometimes at night. But they are becoming nastier each day.

I rationed myself for a long time. I'd have 2 in the morning. Then would vape myself silly 'till noon, have another. Vape myself silly 'till supper time - have another or two. Vape myself silly 'till bedtime, have another. Went on like this for a long time. Then one day 'it was supper time' and I didn't have but my 2 rationed cigs that morning. That's the day I said - I'm done - not gonna do it any more. The next day was my 1st non-smoking day in over 40 years. It'll happen for you too! Hang in there Don't feel like a failure because you're still smoking. Feel like a success because you're making progress to where you want to be.

Mike (or anyone) what do you use to measure your mesh in MM?

I have a digital caliper, a 1/1000 inch micrometer, and a laser measuring device accurate to 1/10 of an inch. Just kidding!!!! I use a $2.00 metal ruler 6 inches long. It's inches on one side and mm on the other. Got it at Michael's craft store. I use that to measure and an X-acto razor knife to cut the mesh. Ok - I also have a 12 inch metal ruler too, sometimes the longer straight edge is useful.

Ain't that the truth. So much 'shared' between folks today. That's what I love about this thread. The stories of getting started, dealing with the addiction, getting past it, making breakthroughs, and helping each other through the struggles and supporting each other. Yeah thanks to everyone that 'hangs out' here. I appreciate you all. Willie, I'm with ya sir - I could light one up now, I just chose not to. And you all help me make that decision everyday. Thank you.
