Hey Guys, I'm still fairly new at all this.
I don't have the time, money or inclination to go back to school for degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering, so does that mean a vv isn't something I will be able to have?
I live on a fixed income with a very limited budget to spend on my vaping and thought the new lava tube would be a good choice, at least one that I might be able to afford if I save for a few months and looked fairly simple to operate. I've been following 3 different threads about them and it's really scaring me off from trying one.
Before someone jumps in and tells me to get a Provari, I just can't afford to have "champagne taste on a beer budget" :(
Thanks in advance for any help

The V1 works very good for me and they have fixed the problems with the 1.5 so any you buy now should be fine. I have both and like both of them.
There are some real good buys out there right now if you look around a little. The good thing about the 1.5 is it can read resistance on cartos. I wouldn't worry about the amps and watts that much. The v1 is rated at 2.5 amps and the 1.5 at 3 amps and that only comes into play if you want to vape LR cartos at high voltages. 90% of vapers never vape over 4.5V anyways and if they do they are using high res cartos. If reading resistance isn't important I would go with the V1.

Welcome to our thread by the way. I hope you make yourself at home and enjoy some good company on your vaping journey!:tumble:

Elbert, just keep on coming to the forum. We all learn by reading, trying and helping each other out. I can assure you that 6 weeks ago none of this made any sense to me.
Sounds like you're looking for some kind of e-pipe and I know absolutely nothing about them.

Ive been coming here since the first of May and yes lots of help.

the epipe I would like I can't afford and I have no patience when it comes to saving. I am looking at a mod that the battery slides in and a carto on the battery and it looks and feels like a pipe. and the bowl is 14.00
So Im gonna do the battery and large carto/clearo/echomizer
then in a few weeks Ill order the bowl.

thanks yiddleboge6

Thanks a lot TXtumbleweed. Guess I'm still saving towards the Lava Tube.

There is another one that just came out called the Ovale V8 but is a VV box mod. I haven't tried it yet but it is one you might check out because it is reasonably priced at 29.00 for the unit alone or 49.00 for the kit. I will have one this week so I will know a little more then.

Holy Vapes! This thread sure caught on quickly! Glad to "see" all the new faces! That was the purpose of starting this as our other threads got kind of relegated to the void where nobody could find us!

Anyway, happy to meet the new people and glad to see all the old friends too, what a great crew! I'll probably make some of you feel great about your successes because I've been vaping about 8 months and still haven't entirely quit the nasties. It isn't about nicotine, I've raised it until it made me sick, and I have good equipment that I am happy with, especially my 1000mah eGo pass-through and asst cartos and tanks, my issues seem to be related to the lack of WTA's (whole tobacco alkaloids) in the jooses. Most do quite nicely without them, but some of us seem to really need them. I recently had a chance to try them and I was pretty blown away at how well they mimicked the satisfaction of a real cigarette and reduced those cravings dramatically! I am also on a very limited budget, but they are definitely next on the agenda. My son said he would get me some, but I don't want to be nagging him about it, though he says he wants to also try it. I know Mike and a few others here also use WTA's and it's sure nice to know I'm not alone with it. For the longest time I felt so defeated hearing all the stories about how so many quit smoking the first time they tried a PV, and here I am all these months later, still struggling! But I'm hopeful. Even so, after 45+ years of smoking 2PAD it has got to be somewhat better smoking 4-10 a day than 40 or more, so I still try to consider it progress though it would make me a lot happier to just vape! Seems I've never been in the norm for anything, so why should I expect it now? LOL

Just want to remind the new people to please come join us at our sister threads for more general conversations, including vaping, at either http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/293489-mature-vapors-immature-ones-too.html

You'll have to let us know how it does for you. Do you have link to it?

yiddle, I, too, am expecting an Ovale V8 (tomorrow I hope). I'll certainly let you know what I think about it. It needs two batteries and a charger (+/- $30) so the kit price may not be so bad.

Is your avatar a dog?? :D

Hang in there CharlieGirl - you are not the 'other person'. You're own your own path, so it's taking longer. Like you said cutting down the amount you're smoking is a big improvement on where you where. For some of us, it's not so easy, but that doesn't mean it's not "do-able". Don't beat yourself up for still smoking, congratulate yourself for how far you've come.

Hi everyone. I just joined yesterday found this area but couldn't post a hello because I didn't have 5 yet in the New Member thread.

I'm Kat and you all seem like a wonderful group of people encouraging and helping one another along the way - I love it.

As a 10 year old, it seemed pretty cool to smoke so I'd sneak cigs out of my parent's packed and hide to smoke them. I'm 56 and have smoked most of my life since then :(

About a year ago, I got an electronic cigarette in the mall. (Smoke51 Trio) Hate to admit it, but that fell by the wayside rather quickly. So, back in February after feeling for quite a while that if I had a better device I would probably be more likely to use it, I got a 510-T tank kit, then extra batteries, then added an Ego-C passthru. I still haven't completely shaken the nasties...stressful days at work still really make be run to them with both feet, unfortunately. I was a pack a day smoker, so on average, I've been able to cut that down to about a third. Trying not to beat myself up too bad about that. After reading this entire chain yesterday and CharlieGirl's post just now, I feel better knowing the WTA liquid is out there if I need it.

Anyhow, now that I'm able to post, I wanted to jump in and say hello. I have some questions I will be asking, but will let this be it for my first post.

Today will be a quiet one for me, as I remember and reverence our Heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our Freedom.

Welcome Kat, it took a lot of us time to get off the cigs 100%. I mean - we had the habit for 40+ years - not that easy to break, but some have already done it and others are well on their way. Myself - been vaping for about 8 months - been 100% cig free about 5 or 6 of that (I slipped once)... Just hang it there and do not beat yourself up about it - it will happen - if you want it to. I found what helped me the most was learning what my triggers were and avoiding them as much as possible or altering my habits so to speak... There are a lot of tricks you can try... One cig at a time...

Thank you. What my intention was in beginning with an e-cigarette is to save money, cutting down on "real" cigarettes. But I've found it's hard to save much of anything unless I eliminate the expense of even 1 carton of real ones. Guess I didn't realize atomizers would have to be replaced as much as they do, or cartomizers purchased regularly. I first thought, once you have your device, you only have to purchase liquid. Then there is the quest for better batteries, etc. Got my eye on an ego twist now. Of course, I must have the pearl pink :)

If you buy 18350 batteries seperate from the kit make sure they are AW IMR with the nipple. I heard this morning that the flat top IMR's won't work on them. Bummer for me because everyone was out of AW's and I ordered some generic ones and they are flat tops. At least the flat top IMR's will work on my mini LT so they are not a waste of money.

    Hello Kat56, Welcome

    Howdy CharlieGirl

Im only on like day 21, but there is something missing. Only doing 3-5 a day, better than 17-20.
There are times for me that the Top of my Lungs fgeel empty, just the very top.
I have tried to get it satisfied with the E-smoke , but it just doesn't. A few puffs on a tobacco and it seems happy.
Since my main reason for stopping tobacco was not heath so much as wanting to respect that sacred plant Im trying not to try thew WTA. Just doing the best I can and paying attention when I do have a tobacco.
For me when I do have one. I do ask that Tobacco and Creator to help with letting go of this last bit.

I think those of us who are less will to let go of the tobacco than others don't say much because of all the "I haven't picked up a cigarette since my XXX got here.

I love my VOLT and it serves me well. I am hoping if I listen to myself and pay attention I can change my relationship with the tobacco. I don't think some of my unwillingness has anything to do with my body, There is still something Im not willing to let go of.

Some of adabpt to change slower than others.

    We will adapt.

Welcome Kat and hang in there it only gets easier and better! You may not save as much money as you expected but you will save your life and hopefully avoid the oxygen bottle to tote around down toward the end of the trail!
    :tumble:

Definitely food for thought...don't think I would enjoy toting the oxygen for sure! :vapor:
