Great thread! I smoked for over 20 years and so has my wife (until we quit!). My starter kit was an ego variable voltage battery with a stardust clearomizer. Next was a SmokTech VMAX using a ViVi Nova tank. What I vape now is a ProVari V2 with a ViVi Nova tank. My wife still uses an ego/stardust.

Cheers,

Devo - this is the year of the snake? Ummm, is there something good about that? I know one thing that's going to make it a good year for people who have switched to vaping - they don't have to make any resolutions about quitting smoking - wow, what a relief! Even if they haven't quit the cigs totally, they've certainly reduced the harm from them.

yes, that is a good thing. i don't have to make my res to quit smoking, my other two... welll.. one i blew within 5min of getting into the new year. actually, i think that is a record for that resolution. last year it took 24hrs to blow it. my other one. i am working very hard at making that this year and i think i will be able too.

Started smoking at 16, been up to a pack a day since twenty.
I'm 52 now and have tried, here we go, Zantex, patches, gum lozengers and the pre-vapes( which were smokless little white mouth piece's with pre- nicotined carts)

Got the cheap ecig from 7-11 early last year and really thought it would work.
But do to the lack of smoke and throat hit I went back to the smellys.
A co-worker of mine was vapeing in the smoking area and we talked about it.
He suggested a eGo starter kit( info below in sig) and its been great!
The goal I set up for myself was to have just (3) smellys a day.( one after each meal)
Since vapeing, I'm destorying my goal without a problem.
Even starting to skip my lunch smelly.
Eventually I WILL throw out the lunch .... and gradually knock off ethier my dinner or breakfast smelly( still enjoying my smelly with coffee!)

Just wanted to let any old smoker know that.
IT CAN BE DONE!!!!!

Bardo, Took me over a year to kick those last few a day. Not because I enjoyed them, it was just something my mind wouldn't let go of. Finally I said the heck with this and have been smoke free for 12 1/2 days now. Still have that mental wanting but I ain't givin in. Just heavy vape through the tougher moments. I was 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for 45 years. Immediately when I started vaping I went to 1/2 pack. After about three months I was down to 5 a day. Then I just kinda stagnated at 2 - 5 a day for 9 months till I realized I was an idiot and finally gave em all up. I do believe the SplitFires and variable wattage devices played a huge role for me in the final step. If I was still using the pencil cigs I do not think I would have made it, but we are all different. Good luck with your trip.:)

Resolutions never worked for me. I kept resolving to quit smoking each year. Then I decided I was never going to quit so I looked into vaping and was so pleased with it I didn't pick up another cigarette! Each night I'd go to bed proud of myself for not having one and a week later realized I was a non-smoker! Yay Me!! I accidently quit smoking! Who would have thought! So, this year my resolution is easy - Keep on Vaping!! Here's hoping you have better luck with your 2nd resolution.

Welcome Bardo and good for you! Sounds like you got started on a good set up. It really makes a difference! Have you tried different flavored juices? Several people I've talked to found that they enjoyed vaping more than smoking after they'd discovered some flavors they liked.

Welcome Jwel! Did you and your wife quit at the same time? Mike E3 is my hubby and we started vaping at the same time. I tossed the ciggies right away, but it took him a few months. It's so much easier to do it together. Mike is the researcher so every time I have a question he's already got the answer! We're using different devices since he's such a gadget person and I'm definitely a KISS person so it works out quite well. After almost 50 years of smoking t's been over a year for both of us now and we still can't believe it.

Welcome James and Barto. I was another that quit by accident after 46 years of smoking. I just started vaping to try to cut down on the over PAD I was smoking and found that I enjoyed the vaping more than the smoking.

I am not too big on New Years resolutions and never made one to quit smoking. Mainly because I loved smoking and did not want to quit. So that is still what amazes me everyday - that I am not smoking and I did not want to quit.

I smoked 2 PAD for 44 years. I'll be 70 in June :) Have not had a cigarette now since 12/5/2011..so that's close to 13 months smoke free.
It took me from October 5 th to December 5th back in 2011 to finally end the cigarettes. Got down to 1 cigarette a day and thought boy is this dumb, put that last one down and never looked back. Made up my mind to not vape anything tobacco flavored and that worked for me.
I had tried the gum, smoke-away, patches etc before I tried the e-cigarette. Nothing worked for any length of time. The first try with an e-cig in 2010 did not work, but when I got a Titan 510, that did it :) That and 24 meg e-juice. I now vape 6 meg juice so the nic level has declined over the 13 months.

That is almost exactly my situation- over 46 yrs- tried vaping out of curiosity- figured all I needed was nicotine so I quit smoking immediately- am not a NY's resolution person- congrats to you! My quit date was 9.17.11- its all worth it and all good!

I think when you've smoked for a long time, it's that last 2 or 3 cig's a day that's hard to stop. Reading posts here several hang at giving up that last couple of cigarettes a day. LOL I kept two packs of cigarettes around for a year after my last one...just in case I went into a panic and just had to have one. Finally gave them to my sister-in-law. :)

Yes, there's a whole mental aspect to smoking. And it's so strong I've avoided places and doing things because I knew I wouldn't be able to smoke and that panicked me. Even though I had quit smoking I kept that 1/2 open pack of cigarettes on top of the refrig for almost a year - just in case! There was something comforting knowing it was there and it was so liberating to toss that pack!

By-the-way, welcome Constance! Nice of you to stop by. It's good to hear another success story. Isn't it nice to start a new year knowing you're smoke free? It's been 16 months for me and I still want to do a little happy dance when I think of it. It's a miracle!

Thanks for the tips!
Just found out that my local smoke shop carries at juice made by "Imperial"
Little pricey, compared to the online price, but will be good in a pince!
I think that the Imperial brand is mostly used on the ehookas
