Yes, there's a whole mental aspect to smoking. And it's so strong I've avoided places and doing things because I knew I wouldn't be able to smoke and that panicked me. Even though I had quit smoking I kept that 1/2 open pack of cigarettes on top of the refrig for almost a year - just in case! There was something comforting knowing it was there and it was so liberating to toss that pack!

Ah yes the mental issues. I deal with those triggers daily although I've cut it to half a pack a day. I think my problem
is my caffeine intake. You never see me without a Stabucks dark roast in my hands all the way up to bedtime. Yes I'm
one of those jittery, anxious smokers, more mental need than physical. MAOIs anyone?

Oh how I want a banner in my sig!

I think when you've smoked for a long time, it's that last 2 or 3 cig's a day that's hard to stop. Reading posts here several hang at giving up that last couple of cigarettes a day. LOL I kept two packs of cigarettes around for a year after my last one...just in case I went into a panic and just had to have one. Finally gave them to my sister-in-law. :)

Welcome Constance - I too hung onto 2/3 a day - but only for a few weeks. Everytime I went out to smoke one of them - I had to ask why. They just did not taste like anything I should be wanting. The last week I was down to one a day and I think it really was when I got my eGo Twists and some better juice that finally did it for me. I just decided to not go out that day for the one cigarette and now it has been six weeks.

I still have 5 packs in the freezer and one in a pack in my purse. Mainly because I still can't believe that I am not smoking and the other is just having that comfort of knowing I can just have one if I want. I will probably hang onto them for a little while yet - need to get thru a few more "testing" situations before I will get rid of them.

So I think as my six week reward - I am going to order that purple spinner today :w00t:

Janet was it you that has the L'rider robust? I have been looking for a ego sized pv with a replaceable battery. I welcome all feed back from anyone that has one!

Yep, it's me. I now have 4 of them! The only time I use the eGo now is with an i06 to drip 0 nic before bed. (yes Gloria, I'm still dripping at night!) Nicotine can sometimes interrupt sleep so that's what I do. Seems to help. I love my "Riders". The battery doesn't last as long as I like, so that's a drawback, but it's not a problem to just pop a fresh one in. I have 2 black, one red and Mike got me a beautiful purple one for Christmas. The black has a soft texture to it like the eGo's, but the red and purple ones are very pretty metallic. I love being able to push a button and see how much battery life is left and the vv seems to be pretty accurate.

My first 3 came from a co-op, but I'll have to check with Mike when he comes in to see where he got my last one. It's not a place he usually buys from. He's busy grinding some stone - stay tuned for that report from him!

Ah, Mike got it from e-Smokeytreats and was $39.98 before his 10% coupon. Shipping was $5.50.

Hey guys....if you REALLY want to calculate how much you've saved by switching...Australia is now charging $20 a pack. I do believe that would have made me go cold turkey. Bet they have a great 'black market'!

Yes! I saw that today! Good grief! I'd probably be trying to smoke grass clippings! Gotta be some antsy people walking around down there!

They do make decaf you know! Actually, they'll do 1/2 and 1/2 for you if you ask. Love me some Starbucks dark roast!

I remember saying that same thing to myself when they went up to $3 a pack.
Nothing doing

I just turned 50 and have been smoking since I was 17

I would love to say I am smoke free but I just can't, I have been sneaking a couple in the morning when I get up before my wife. Each morning I get up, make coffee, go out for a smoke, instantly regret it, get fresh coffee, have another smoke, regret that too, drink coffee and watch the news. Once I have the couple of ciggies out of my system in the morning I seem to be OK with vaping for the rest of the day...

I started vaping on 12/21/12 (the end of the world as I knew it?) and instantly cut from 1 1/2 PAD to less than 5. My wife was so impressed that she started vaping the week after I did and she has only had a couple real smokes since as far as I know.

Congrats to you & your wife. Instead of counting the ones you're smoking - count the ones you're NOT. You're doing great!:toast:

Sorry about the dbl post......

Wow! You're doing great! You might be one of those people who need a higher nicotine level first thing in the morning or even just a different flavor. Some of us need higher nic at certain times of the day or under certain circumstances. Moishe is right, count the cigs you're not smoking. Just think, you're only smoking 1/2 PAD! Not to worry. Don't stress about it, enjoy vaping and celebrate your success. A lot of people do both until one day they realize they like vaping better than smoking. We're a pretty supportive and helpful bunch here so pop in often. Love to have you hang out.

It's interesting you say that about the higher nic level... The juice I have right now is about 18mg and I don't think it's enough. I have an order of 36mg nic base on the way along with a couple of different flavorings, some PG and some VG. I'll be trying a couple of different strengths starting at 24 and working down from there.

I'm also not super pleased with my setup right now. I started with cig-alike then an ego manual 650mAh battery and some clearo's. I like the battery but not the clearo's so I have been filling the carto's that came with the cig-alike and using them with the ego and I like that better. With my order I have some 1.7ohm single coil cartos.

Thanks Janet, is it alot bigger than an ego battery? Say a ego 900 twist?
