I had never heard of a billet box, but looked it up. That looks very interesting. I don't like cartos, but have never used one in a tank, so they might be better that way. It said you need protected batts, and I definitely prefer the IMR type. Do you know what changes are being made on the next run of them? What do these run price wise?

The price is 175 and I'm not sure about the batt part. Here's a stupid question: How do IMR and protected differ?

The air hole is 1/16 and is not blocked. On a Spinner I can get 7-10 seconds of vapor before the coils start to glow. I will try tweaking them again tomorrow.

The draw is airy.

It's probably my coil but that doesn't explain the one it came with wrapped perfectly.

don't know if this helps, had the same problem on a DID i just got..everything checked out on the premade wick and coil but still got burnt taste..read where the wick should be able to move in the coil and mine didn't..loosened the coil and it works like it's suppose too...this my first and only rba..too much trouble and too small...also way too airy for me...just what i found ..hope it helps a little..

Ask Mike! lol I can't explain it, cuz I don't know nuttin bout that stuff. But EVERYone who does seem to know says that the IMR technology is a much safer technology than protected batts, so I just trust they know what they're talkin about.

I have been looking at the AGA-T. Any opinions? Problems? Suggestions?

I've got 2 of 'em and like them. (actually expecting 2 more from a co-op). They vape as good as my RBAs that cost 6x's as much. They're just more fiddly to setup as they have tiny screws and the wick hole is a tad too far from the positive post. This leads to the common AGA-T problem of people having a hot/glowing lead to the coil.

It's easy to get around it, by either leaning your wick toward the pos post, or using 3mm washers or even washers & a section of spring from a ballpoint pen. Then sandwich the lead between the washers to minimize the amount of wire in the 'open air' between post and wick.

The current AGA-T's are all stainless steel - that's a plus. The previous ones weren't. Looks like the Chinese have made another change to the next batch of AGA-T's to ship. Instead of o-rings to seal the tank, they're now using some kind of proprietary nylon looking washer/grommet. This shouldn't be a concern unless one is thinking about drilling the wick hole to a full 1/8", as the the change to the top section to use the new washer/grommet doesn't leave much room to expand the wick hole.

Here's how I rigged one of mine to use spring loaded washers to trap the pos wire. Just pull the pos wire between the washers and connection is completed. No turning the tiny-tiny top screw.

This is the extend of my batt knowledge. Protected batts have a circuit to protect against drawing more amps then the batt is designed to handle. IMR batts have 'safe chemistry' - the chemical composition of the batt protects against drawing more amps. You should only use IMR batts in PVs with built in circuit protection as the protected batts circuit can intefer with the PV protection circuit.

Wick and coils, I understand, I can see them. I can't see electricity, I don't understand it - it's magic.

I don't have a RBA yet, but I've been considering the AGA-T. Where the lead length is concerned, I've heard to use 0 resistance silver wire for lead, and twist it onto the coil. Is this correct?

Char and Molli, one of the tactics used by Smoke Enders (and maybe others) is once you quit smoking, you get a jar and every time you would have bought a pack of cigarettes you have to put that amount of money in the jar. You literally get to see how much you're saving. Maybe you could do that and then hubby would see exactly what you're saving. AND you'd see if there's any money there that you could use to buy your supplies. Good luck with that, but it is an idea that might stop the complaining. I bet you wouldn't have to keep it up for long but you might have to figure out how to put a lock on it!

That is a great idea Janet, except that the big cheese bought my cigarettes so to get him to put that same amount into a jar or anywhere else would be quite a feat! He can darn well see what he is saving weekly when he doesn't have to fork out money to buy me smokes. I think it just peeves him now that I have forced him to buy his own (instead of bumming mine) and owning his own smoking habit rather than pawning it off on me, if you get what I mean. In his twisted thoughts, I quit smoking to make his smoking more inconvenient for him. I know that makes no sense, but that's him! He acts like my PV is some sort of explosive mechanism and he actually told my own brother (who knows nothing about these things...until I HAD to inform him) that it was costing him TWICE as much as cigarettes were, which is a flat out lie at any point in my transition from smoking to vaping! I've never sat down and did the math, but I know smoking cost at least $70 per week, so say close to $300 per month for mine. Now, depending on what I have on hand, and if I don't peruse the ads, I've gone months without HAVING to purchase anything. That doesn't mean vaping is free, it just means it's way cheaper and if you are well stocked you don't have to grovel! LOL! In the beginning of all this I tried to bargain with him and said if I succeeded in quitting cigarettes, would he give me 1/2 of what I smoked each month for supplies and spending money. Seemed fair to me! Ha, he said sure initially, but before you know it, we just didn't have the money any more! But you had it when I needed smokes! Maybe I should go back to smoking! Know what he said? Maybe I should! He didn't want me to quit, I'm telling you. Mr. Co-dependent. It's his problem and he owns it. If he refuses, my sons help me out. It's all good. No way I will ever smoke again! Even if the FDA steps in, I will vape zero nic before I revert back to the nasties. For the first time in 20 years I wasn't sick with bronchitis all winter. When I did get a cold I could still breathe and it didn't last forever. No way I'm going back there! Vaping a "menthol cough drop" works so much better with a cold than trying to smoke a cigarette too!

Hey there peeps :)

The only reason I stay away from this thread is that I really don't want to buy anything else right now; not that I don't like you :D

You remember I was having trouble with the post on my twist getting mashed in and not making contact with my atty? Well, it turns out that it wasn't the post on the twist, it was the connections on all of my cartos. I have since pulled them out with a screwdriver and the trouble stopped.

I also wanted to update y'all (practice in case I move to Texas this summer) on the Vivi Nova experience. I paid the extra for the Vision Vivi Nova and am not sorry! I have had zero leaks and once I figured out how to remove the little paper ring around the coil I have had zero burned taste. My wife killed all of her clearos so I ordered her the Vision Vivi Mini and 5 extra heads, now we use the same replacement parts. She has been very happy with the mini, no burns, no leaks; she even sat on hers and bent it, she straightened it and it works like a charm and still doesn't leak, even in her suitcase-er-purse.

I'm done with trying to find the perfect DIY flavor. I keep coming back to plain old menthol from Mt Bakers Vapors so I get the menthol flavoring to mix in my nic juice. I did get a bottle of Extreme Ice flavoring for when I want my menthol a little cooler and love love love it! My wife is still vaping unflavored nic juice, says she doesn't want a bunch of flavors to remind her of why she vapes (to quit smoking).

Soooooooo, We are still at it and loving the fact that we are no longer smokers :)

Hi Ken..Good to hear from you & hear that all is going well. I'm pretty heavy into DIY, even tho I confess to buying a few (very few) liquids that I like, however, I wind up doctoring those. Funny you mention MBV's Extreme Ice & Menthol; I think those are great & was wondering if you've tried his "Menthol Flavoring"...it's positively awesome. I just got my first 2 bottles of the menthol flavoring last week & I'm ordering 6 more; the H word applies here. The stuff is the best........& NO, this is not a paid commercial (wish it was):D

Yes you can use a small length of NR wire attached to the resistance wire to alleviate the hot lead. I find that a pain to attach the 2 wires. There is a thread over in the modders forum on how to make a mini spot welder from a disposable camera. Once you rig it up, it looks like a snap to tap the 2 pieces of wire with the DIY welder to bond them together.

Nope that didn't work. Burnt taste came back. Tried turning my Provari near upside down before taking a vape. No burnt taste so I'm assuming it's a wicking problem.

Yikes - still no love between you and the ZAP. What kind of juice are you using. Most of mine is 50/50 PG/VG and that went along fine with the wicks that came with my ZAPs. The 'delivered' wicks lasted me at least a month. The when I replaced them I used at least twice the amount of mesh of the Zen wicks. The 'delivered' wicks were only about 15mm of mesh, I use anywhere from 45-60mm of 500 SS mesh when I roll my own. It wicks much better.

You can come on in - just stay away from Tex's posts with all the new stuff it keeps being here. :) Nice to hear the connection problem is figured out and the Vivi's are working so well for you an your wife. I use full size Vivi's and Janet uses the mini's. It is convenient we can share our stock pile of heads.

I do not think that only Tex brings in New Stuff to try - Mike hmmmmm... (LOL)...

Thanks for the update on the AGA-T. I think I will hold off a bit to see if the new version coming has less quirks. I do not mind tinkering, but I have a big enough tinkerer list as it is and do not want to buy something else that requires it. KISS is my motto...
