Yesterday was the day I guess. I shorted out a carto myself and I haven't done that in almost 2 years. Killed my batts and all. They recharged no problem.
Iffy have you seen this? $4.75 for BOGE F16 TANK

How did u short one out, Fran? And I only ask so that I may know the causes.
This is not a problem I'd ever considered would happen. And I'm sure I likely caused it myself with my DIY punching. I knew to be careful not to punch thru to the center post but did not ever consider metal touching metal. And really could this also not happen with a pre-punched carto?
ETA: and no recovery. These batts won't come on or charge. DOA

That's a decent price!
I do use carto tanks, but I'm not a Boge carto fan. I must have ordered mine when their QC department was on vacation.
Natasha, sorry 'bout your misfortunes! TBH, the only resulting negative issue I've read about punching cartos has been flooding/leaking (punctured tube). That's not counting the art of hole sizing; flooding vs. starvation.

I've thought about this... and IMHO, my fears need not be about the batts, but more in regards to the USER!
I am going to re-order 2 more ego batts and punched cartos. Then I will also be hunting 2 other type back-up batts for the next time I blow something up.
Another lesson learned. And I've ALWAYS been on of those who learns things the hard way. LOL

I have a question.... Other than if one was using a DCT, when else would one need DC cartos?? Iread this warning These cartomizers are pre-punched with 1 - 2.3mm hole. For use with single coil cartomizer tank setups and thought well, there's something else I don't know squat about. I thought one could just buy a tank and a carto and USE IT. Hmmm... not so much.
I feel for you Natasha. My younger sister went through something similar with her first 2 1300mAh ego batteries. Come to find out it was the charger causing the batteries to short out. Bought both battery and charger from the same vender at the same time. He replaced the first battery. within a couple of days the replacement battery shorted out. Contacted him yet again. He was willing to send another battery but we knew this couldn't go on forever. Well, before he sent out another battery we found the problem. Sis plugged in the charger to charge her EgoVV. Charger popped and started smoking. fortunately she got it unplugged before it caught on fire. Scared the bejesus out of her but we were happy to finally find the problem of the shorting batteries.
Sis felt really bad about it. She thought that she must be doing something wrong and was causing the problem. She was very relieved to find out that it wasn't her fault at all. Just more of that lack of QC we come across all the time with this new hobby of ours.
All of this to just say. Hang in there Natasha. It does get better.

Good Lord! Lucky she was still standing there and had not gone to bed or left the house! These kind of stories really worry me. I don't want to find that my home burned to the ground cuz of a faulty batt or charger!
Natasha - One last thing to try with the 'bad' eGo batts. Some eGo brands (I know Joye brand does) have a reset function. Click the button 10 times real fast. This worked on a couple of ours when they wouldn't charge.

Like Natasha This is something I know squat about...info on the differences would be greatly appreciated before I invest in a tank! Oh and I did send off an email to HHV about the atty.

Well, my bedroom is going to smell like kiwi for a while. I just ATTEMPTED mixing up some juice, and I fumbled fingered the flavoring bottle.

I really do love my Twists, Spinner with the Vivi Nova, Kanger T3 & T2 and Evods so no temptation to try any of these tanks.
However - I spent a bunch of hours yesterday reading about the little eRolls and once again that
I can't resist something that sounds so cute happened. So I ordered an eRoll, fortunately I read enough to also order the extra atomizer cover, but missed the Ucan so I guess something else on my next time list. Just sounds like something that would work great for when out and in places where you want to be more discrete.
Since the vendor has free shipping if I spend over $100 - well of course I had to add some more Nic base and flavors

It has been suggested to me that the VG eGO batts I had were probably knock-offs. SO, I am likely not going to buy those again. In don't approve of buying counterfeit merchandise AND IMHO counterfeit battery operated devices are potentially less safe.
Having said all that.... I've narrowed down potential replacement devices to 4 choices.
