It's a Qinpu A3 (8.5Wx2) hybrid that I use with a pair of Dayton B652 bookshelf here in the vape shop. The stock Chinese 6N3 tubes were quickly replaced with a pair of JAN GE 5670W (I removed the standoff between the plastic tube guards as the 5670 are much shorter than the 6N3), but it will take 2C51 and Western Electric 396A if you can find a reasonably priced pair.

Source is the Line Out from an Amazon Echo (3rd Gen) streaming Spotify.

I've never tried the line out with any of my headphones as I have a Little Dot MK IV OTL headphone amp for my high impedance cans. I do have a pair of 50 ohm Fostex T50RP MK2 Planar that would probably work very nicely from the speaker taps. I'll have to try it one of these days, that might save me from ordering in an Emotiv BasX A-100 amp for those. A pair of jumpers inside the A-100 can bring the speaker output power directly to the headphone jack for seriously hard to drive headphones like the HiFiMan HE6 etc.

I do love the euphonic sound from tube gear. :toast:
Definitely some cool stuff! I know very little about audio equipment, but my Cousin is a bit of an audiophile and I get to use a lot of his hand-me-downs that he doesn't have room for! I have quite a few pairs of higher power QSC PA type amps that work pretty good at filling my 30,000 sq foot shop/echo chamber, and several Emotiva pieces to feed them to 4 Carvin PM153s. (moves a lot of air, makes a lot of noise...he hates it, LOL!) He did give me a couple of modified ADCOM 5500 mono-blocks and some like new Klipsch bookshelf speakers for one of my TV setups, Emotiva PT100 at the controls there. And don't ask me what was modified in those ADCOMs - he told me, but it went right over my head, LOL!

He's talked about tube stuff before and I know he's done a lot of research, but I don't think he's ventured in that direction yet.

I like the saying big is always better but in the case of the paramour mod its a bit confusing. You have a smaller mod then the aspire mixx with a bigger and better battery size. I like it!

To see if it got any easier the second time, I re-coiled and wicked the RBA for my Mulus today ... and it was.

Who'd have ever thought when pods first came out we'd have ones with controlable VW/VV and RDAs?

Oh aye and I did cut off that protruding bit of wire!

Not the biggest deck I've ever worked on, but manageable so I'll get another one "just in case."

Big heads up and a huge thank you to @UNIVAPO_Rebecca
Think it was in a youtube video where i asked if anyone knew where i could get the coils for this tank since mine were already dead.
Rebecca from Univapo sent me a message,we started talking and she said she would send me some coils.

About a week later, voila!! 2 boxes of coils were delivered to my door, one box with 5 of the 0.2 ohm coils and another box with 5 of the 0.4ohm coils.

Been using that tank non stop, actually pairs quite nice with my Pink Colossal :D

    Thanks again @UNIVAPO_Rebecca ,you rock!!

Awesome stuff there! I'm an apartment dweller so unfortunately no speakers for me, that's why I went the headphone route. The QSC stuff is quite impressive I was just looking at their network amps, connect speakers and put them on your network. Then it's just a matter of point and click pairing up input/output combinations etc. That PT100 looks like a solid little unit, I don't think they make a bad product in their BasX line.

Tubes can be a seriously expensive rabbit hole if you let it. People chase extremely rare vintage tubes, they have to sound better since they were made in the heyday of tube manufacturing, right? ;) YMMV and if they have the dosh to splash out for stuff like that, then more power to them.

Tube amps are more expensive to manufacture than solid state, the output transformers take up the majority of the cost. If you want the low frequencies to have authority, it takes some big iron to do that. But there are many inexpensive Chinese tube amps available that with a few mods and parts upgrades turn out to have a very decent sound. Research is the key and a lot depends on what speakers he is going to be using with them, best to join a Facebook tube group or forum.

no doubt the old tubes were made better, I had some 6L6 metal case tubes a friend just had to have for his guitar amp. I still have a case of old tv/radio tubes, but don't think they are worth much.
