Somewhere out there
When I first started vaping I lived in a two story house - used to huff and puff after one or two times up and down those stairs - now no more huffing and puffing, but still have to use the cane - just don't feel like it is killing me trying to do it... :)
Good for you! I wish I could do stairs but it really activates the bursitis ACK!

stuck in a squishy pod called my brain
We just moved into a 3 story (renting for 2 yrs) my son can't walk up the stairs now, so we are trying to get out of the lease by 1 yr and find a single level.
my parents farm house is 2 story all bedrooms upstairs.. in 1988 dad got crushed and they wanted to amputate his legs.. he begged them to save them and he would deal with the pain. to this day his legs looks like frankenstien... mom had to have 3 hip surgeries (1 was botched).......so,, dad had a huge bedroom built onto the side of the house.....I think that bedroom is bigger than my condo lol. the upstairs are never used any more until we visit.

Our problems just began last month. We have a 3 hr. MRI next month and he's pitching a fit about using a walker. ( he's 12 )

Melatonin can cause weird dreams but sometimes valerin root will trigger some too.
I'm scrolling up reading from last to first..so you may have covered this.
When I worked at the satellite TV station I had the 11 PM to 7 AM shift, would come home change and head off to school until 2 or 4 PM depending on whether I had to do a show (radio news reader)
so getting to sleep as soon as I got home was essential.
There was a police station next to the station and cops would often stop by and shoot the chat with me
'cause they liked me..some knew me from when I worked for the court.
They suggested melatonin which a lot of cops and especially firemen who have rotating shifts use.
It worked great within a half hour of taking either the capsule or sublingual dose, never gave me strange dreams. The problem was that it took me 4 cups of coffee and a couple of hours to fully wake up.
I'd be running 3 TV stations in my sleep.
So I tried valerian, both in capsule and in tea. I got the worst hangover style headaches from both, like my head was going to explode.

What I found helped me sleep restfully and wake up fast was chamomile and/or linden tea.

You and me both! Thank you!
Oh my poor boy ! I sure hope everything goes well for him. Can he use two canes instead of a walker? I find I do better with two canes when pain and inflammation gets really bad cause a walker is just a PITA.

I already take a B Complex every day, among other supplements for bone density, etc.. It has 500% of the daily requirement of B-12 in it. No difference in energy. I'm positive my lack of energy has to do with my thyroid, which docs won't adjust meds for unfortunately.
Time for a new doctor? Someone to see it fresh.
After 30 years in a two story house with no ground floor bathroom, a ranch sounds great!
I used to love, love, love stairs. My knees don't like them anymore.

Melatonin helps a little. But, like you, I can't wake up from it. Unless I have a good 9 hours sleep first.

The only other thing I've tried is Nyquil. The alcohol is what does it, I guess. If I'm all ready for bed. Pajamas on, teeth brushed, bed turned down, lights low. Then jump straight into bed after taking it. Otherwise, it wears off and doesn't work.

I used it when I was working graveyard and having to wake up halfway through my day's sleep to run my daughter around, then come back and get more sleep.

He has to use the walker because he can't lift his legs and the walker supports his body weight. Trust me these past 2 weeks have been a nightmare. So for my sake one step at a time approach is were we are at!

amazingly yes,, before the accident he walked real fast,, now he is normal pace. up until a couple of years ago he was still walking the pastures to check his cows,, a few months ago he roofed some old ladies house. - there is no stopping him.

Time for a new doctor? Someone to see it fresh.

Unfortunately, my primary care physician IS my current endochronologist. I don't have other physical issues other than my thyroid, so chose him as my PCP, too, years ago.

I did see another highly recommended/qualified endo. just last month. Took me 6 months to get in to see him. He went along with my other one though...recommended no change in my thyroid meds. There are no others as highly qualified, nor recommended, as those 2, within 50-60 miles. I may have to resort to driving the distance though, if raising my nic level doesn't change some things for the better.

I sure did. Major headache when I woke up. I rarely drink, only a shot or two of Scotch on New Years' Eve,
a couple rum and cokes on Christmas, and a shot of cognac on my birthday. No beer or vino for me.
BTW, old superstition. Hookers would put valerian in their little purse to attract Johns. LOL.

Have you considered taking algae capsules or eating lots of mangoes?
Both are very high in iodine which kick starts your thyroid. My old lady
doesn't need to take thyroxin during mango season.
