Isn't water heater element wire galvanized?
Not this stuff. No zinc. Its actually from a 5500 watt electric tankless element.
Isn't water heater element wire galvanized?
Thanks guys, that's kinda what I thought on the wrap count, not gonna work in my KFL...just to wide.
Nemesis Dominick..
Phoenix V4 modded for bottom feed. Same as the ERA. My standard 2 twist 28, metering at .6 ohm.

After 2 months of flawless performance from the old 2 twist 28 coil, it gave upNew coil for the phoenix on Reo, triple twist 28.

How much of a difference do you notice with a triple wrapped wire vs. A double (2 strands) VS. 3? I just put a double wrapped. 6 vert in a Genesis with a reducer (pulse atty) and I'm a big fan!

Looks good.
For a first attempt, looks great.
There isn't an ironclad "if it doesn't look exactly the same" kind of thing.
Looks a little more open than what I do, maybe a hair more back wrap than my preference?
pdib & Xo your thoughts?
Main thing is it works and gives the characteristic flavor enhancement.
If you are getting the flavor enhancement other coils don't give you then you are doing good.
Vapor production isn't going to win any cloud contests with magic, just so you know.
(Although its no slouch either)
PS, try it in a dripper or bottom feeder micro coil size with cotton and you might find that gennie gets lonely.![]()
Thank you for the advice and when you say bottom feeder you talking about a protank? How do you make this coil smaller? Idk maybe I'm using the wrong size ribbon

The kayfun types are considered to be bottom feeders as well. Reo if budget can stand it....kayfun clone if not.
Take a look at the length of the kayfun lite thread. 'Nuff said?
If you have fairly short legs for the connection, 24 wraps should get you in the neighborhood, maybe a little above and you can unwrap what you need to for adjustment. That's just too long imo, I'd rather sick with 12 tight wraps of the single wire.
I used to wrap parallel wire wraps with 32 gauge, 8 wraps (16 coils) around a 1.5mm allen key. It performed really well. I'm using 28 gauge, 12 wraps, 1.5mm allen key, for ~1.2 ohms these days. Not really much difference that I can tell. I think the 28 may heat a wink or two faster. If the flavors any different, these tired old taste buds can't tell it.
24 wraps of twisted 28 gauge?
Try 8 wraps and go from there. Twisted 28 will give you higher resistance than single 28, not less.

Um... it may be slightly different in practice than in theory, but twisting the wire should give LESS resistance, for the same reason that a dual coil will give less resistance than a single coil.
It's not the same at all when you build a dual coil.
It's more like when you do more wraps on one side you get higher resistance. The same is true when you do larger wire you get higher resistance.
I.E. A 32 gauge 20 wraps will be lower resistance than a 28 gauge 20 wraps.
I build with twisted wire all the time.
